Boxing FROCH: I COULD EASILY STEP UP
Wednesday 27th June 2007Carl Froch believes he could 'easily' move up a division to fight at light-heavyweight. The current super-middleweight boasts a professional record of 21 fights without defeat and he has not ruled out making the move, if he was required.
"Fortunately, I have no trouble with my weight," Froch told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"But, if I can't do super-middleweight as comfortably as I can now then I could easily step up to light-heavyweight."
Froch, who is currently recovering from a knee operation he underwent in May, has also declared that he wants a showdown with European champion Christian Sanavia.
"As soon as I can get my fitness back and I'm back in the ring, I want to be straight into a meaningful fight. I'd be happy to face Sanavia," said Froch.
The Nottingham boxer has also admitted he would love the chance to prove himself against the American Jermain Taylor in the future.
"I relish the opportunity to fight any big name, like Jermain," said Froch.
"It would be brilliant it Taylor would step up to super-middleweight. He's a dangerous fighter." [Only registered and activated users can see links]

Ha ha! Laughable! Froch would move to LHW "if he was required" - by who exactly? Stay at SMW if you're not struggling where your power will at least give you half a chance against the top guys!
And like Jermain Taylor even knows who Froch is!
Stick to challenging for a European for now Carl!

Fuck the European title. It means fuck all. He should be bending over backwards to get Inkin to fight him. After that, he would be better off going to America and chase a fight witht he winner or Manfredo/Green.
Sanavia aye... :verysad
Inkin would be the perfect fight him, Sanavia isnt really any more ''meaningful'' than Robin Ried...
This is how the 'traditional route' slows down the progress of British prospects.

^^exactly. At least he vacated his other belts. All well and good if your fighting for them after 10-12 fights and make a defence or two but to hold on to them is pontless and stalls their career.
Magee and Tatevoyson were good fights but what was the point of Dodson and Westerman? Sanavia is another backwards step for him. He's a top 10 SM for christ sake. He needs to get a move on.

Its hide time Froch STFU and started facing some true world class fighters. He could step upto LHW, but hed be looking at the same level of fights he is at the moment. And discussing Taylor, OMG Taylor probably doesnt have a clue who the hell he is!

only reason why he "calls ou" Taylor is because he thinks he might KO him as he is not as big as the SMW guys...as if Taylor would move up just for Froch...:patsch

Without doubt Carl Froch is an idiot, he bad mouths boxers in hope they would be daft enough to bite and box him.
Froch had an opportunity to box for an IBF eliminator but he pissed it away. He contradicts himself stating he wants to win all the British and European belts before going for a world title shot. He now states he's looking at stepping up to LHW, does this mean the twat will start from scratch again; Common Wealth, British, European and then he should be ripe for retirement.
I'll bet a wod of cash on it that Carl Froch never has the opportunity to challenge for a world title fight for one of the top 4 belts. He's too thick and boxes bums.
The day he steps up the pace and boxes someone with substance he'll probably end up getting chinned out!

Carl would fight anone at SMW given the chance IMO. Why fight for the Euro title? Because he'll make a decent wedge ad will be bumbed up the WBC rankings. If he was that fussed about fighitng Calzaghe surely the logical thing to have done would have been to stay on the ****** show that Frank won the purse bids for!?!

He was already offered the fight and turned it down.
Everyman and his dog can see that ****** won the purse bid so Froch would fight on the undercard of Calzaghes next fight, prime time on ITV thus setting up a fight with Joe - yet he pulled out of the fight so he could face... no announcment.
Carl is keeping himself in the spotlight nicely by calling out Calzaghe, Kessler etc... Hennessy release more press than the News of the World, all of their fighters are kept in the spotlight. John Murray is desperate to fight Khan, Junior Witter is desperate to fight Hatton, Carl Froch is desperate to fight Calzaghe .... and they tell us so every month, and have done for bloody ages.
