Southpaws are a rather rare commodity in the heavyweight division, and when one of them fights safety first and can stay active at the same time, it becomes a difficult experience for an opponent who wants to dig in and tee off, specially when that one is 42 year old Oliver McCall. Gomez fought 34 times in Germany and he's almost 6'4'' tall.

McCall by decision or late TKO
8-7 to mccall on the votes so far.
surprising since there was absolutly no evidence in the first fight between the 2 to suggest mccall can beat goimez by anything but a mistake by gomez.
mccall has a punchers chance all the way through , no doubt, gomez has been ko`d and mccall has power, but in skill they are not equal.
main factors.
has gomez trained and is he in condition
mccall knows he cannot outbox gomez ,will he be willing to throw the kitchen sink and walk through gomez to get the win.

Well, I am in a bad situation here. I'd like to pick Gomez but unfortunately you always pick Fraudley Embarrasment to win everything and that is absolutely ridiculous, so I'll have to go with Oliver McCall.

Mccall will win, this fight is his career in a nutshell. I think Mccall knows if he doesnt pull this fight out his chance for title shot goes out the window, the WBC belt is around the corner and he can taste it.
Mccall should be very confident knowing he beat a tough guy in Sinal Sam in his own back yard on points, he also says hes more prepared for his oppenent and knows what to expect. I think this time around he will make the proper adjustments and take it to Gomez, this will end in a 10th round TKO.

McCall is in great shape and I see him getting a KO victory not to far into the fight maybe around the 5th round. I think McCall is still a wild card heavy weight who may yet shock the world with a heavy weight title win in the next year or so.

McCall KO 1.
Man, that is the only round Oliver can surprise him... Did anyone even bother to check on Gomez-McCall 1 to acknowledge how the Cuban double jabs, flurries to the body and gets off on extremelly light feet whereas Oliver walks aimlessly across and doesn't move his upper-body? The Cuban physical shape issue is very misleading cause he's long-muscled and loose, about the same weight and is very versatile... When Oliver goes for that right hand, Gomez can sense it early enough by McCall's head movement and block it with his left arm. And in the meantime, Gomez pumps fluid jabs against which Oliver has no defense... Still Gomez by UD from that boxing's POV, after all it's in Germany and Samil Sam is a completely different animal.

Please read back my last post written before JC Gomez outworked Oliver McCall this night in Berlin. Hardly surprising...

Being in great shape is part of it. Natural power and skill, athleticism, and the desire to fight the mother fucker... now that's another story...

What about Corrie Sanders? Of all the older HW's, I think Sanders packs a major punch and can still be dangerous. He has the Foreman factor, that he could level a fighter with one punch still.

Of the older heavyweight, only Golota and Sanders are the ones that need to be exposed. I doubt one of them wins a belt.

Exactly. Clearly Sanders is trying to earn another shot at Wlad for big bucks but he doesn't deserve it unless he beats a true top 10 guy like Thompson or at least a Chambers or Ruiz type.

I think he should get a shot !

:good I think the fact that CORY blasted VLAD should give him a position of special treatment ! I think he should get a shot ! Why, Sanders beat him like 5 years ago what will that prove. He got no credit for beating a one eyed Brewster, what makes you think he will get credit for avenging his loss against an overwieght part time golfer?

:good I think the fact that CORY blasted VLAD should give him a position of special treatment ! I think he should get a shot !Maybe. But you only have to look at Punisher33 reply (and he's not among the biggest Wlad haters) to see it's a no win situation for Wlad. His wins will always be tainted by the haters, e.g. he beats "one-eyed" or part time "golfer" fighters :| If Wlad even struggles with Sanders the haters will consider it a major win - even if they don't like Sanders either :(

Gomez UD 12Immaculate…
Gomez is destined to beat the Vitali/Maskaev/Peter winner to become a WBC 2-Weight champ.
He’s one of my favourite fighters of all-time.

Nothing that Wladimir does will ever impress you I'm sure, so why should he even try? Just unify and let history speak for itself.
For your information, Lennox Lewis avenged one of his KO losses against McCall by beating a guy who was on crack & crying yet he still gets credit. Rightly so too.
It's not Lennox's fault that Oliver showed up in such a state, just as is isn't Wlad's fault that Brewster showed up with his usual skill set. :yep
If Wlad has a rematch vs. Sanders and Corrie isn't in top shape & ready to fight 12 rounds that's Corrie's problem, not Wlad's.

Brewster was cleared to fight because he had 2 eyes not one. Lamon even said after the fight that the eye was not a factor so I'll go ahead & believe him instead of you. :thumbsup

Peter will have his hands full with Maskaev, and even if he wins he'll have to fight Vitali or Gomez, and Vitali will KO his fat ass & Gomez will outbox his fat ass.

Gomez would get his head taken off, and Wlad will certainly have his hands full. Vitali is 0-5 in his last 5 matches against his training camp, he is done as far as boxing is concerned. I thought he was running for office or something?

This is one fight where I didn't use my head. I didn't pick with my heart either as I am not a fan of either fighter and never have been. Basically, it was a stupid pick with no logic behind it.
