Pacman has a more of a in your face style, while cotto is more relaxed, slowly beating you down round after round

Pac.

Hatton?

Both Pacquiao and Coto are tremendous pressure fighters but Coto is just above the rest. The guy just goes in and punch his way towards maulling his opponents to submission without so much ado. And this is also the reason why he always gets tagged by the opponents bombs. :yep

. . . and putting Winky in that list is a big mistake. Yeah Winky exerts pressure but not the kind of pressure that the sluggers do. Winky keeps moving forward with his guards all up, he doesn't come in with both hands blazing. get what I mean? :think

Hatton is not a pressure fighter he's a hugging fighter.

06-27-2007, 06:52 PM
cotto, did you see in the judah fight how he never let judah breathe, he had to drop to one knee to get away.

Good list, I might even add Castillo and Arce if it wasn't for their last performance.

And R. Marquez is very underrated as a pressure fighter.

Rafa?

Yes, but you should understand that Rafa is a well rounded fighter who doesn't rely on pressure alone. The guy is an "old school" fighter with real power on both hands. He is a complete package.

Gotta go with Cotto.

Nawfal
06-27-2007, 06:54 PM
cottos is a fucking beast.

i love what malignaggi said

he goes something like this

if youre going to fight cotto, youre going to get beat up. i think in a few more fights, i might be ready for a rematch with him, and ill still get beat up, but maybe ill win a few more rounds.

that sums it up for me

Margarito, wtf? Cotto and Hatton do not let you breathe at all, Margarito sort of plods from a distance and gives plenty of room for a fighter to get away.

he keeps fighters at a bot of a distance due to his height and reach. . . he also keeps punching and landing from odd angles. He's a very effective pressure fighter.

Margarito, wtf? Cotto and Hatton do not let you breathe at all, Margarito sort of plods from a distance and gives plenty of room for a fighter to get away.

margarito is pressure fighter, once he starts he doesn't seem to stop throwing non stop uppercuts and hooks.

Funny, Margarito is a pressure fighter but Wright isn't? Wright pressured Taylor into every corner of the ring.

who said wright isn't???

and what are you laughin' at?

Funny, Margarito is a pressure fighter but Wright isn't? Wright pressured Taylor into every corner of the ring.

yeath but thats taylor

to be honest i dont think winky is the classic pressure fighter. he does throw lots of punches. HOWEVER, he doesnt walk you down like the rest of the fighters. he is a pressure fighter, but not a classic one

and he definately does not wear you down and out

you can take ONE fight from most fighters career and get a false impression of their overall style.

And that's exactly why I say he is underrated as a pressure fighter:deal

Yes absolutely. :yep

Pacman. He throws non stop punches, has insane speed and every punch has knockout intentions

Nah bro we are talking about Rafa being under rated as a pressure fighter. :D

Just wanna ask: When did Winky become a pressure fighter?

boxbox
06-27-2007, 10:11 PM
i say cotto..he's gonna be in front of you and you'll know where its gonna hurt, 2nd is pac, he'll unleash those combinations then.... you dont know whats happening!?

Ethan Trims
06-27-2007, 10:40 PM
I put cotto.

Oh and Winky does apply pressure, but to me he is more a defensive fighter.

He blocks punches, keeps his guard up and throws his jab to win rounds. He is not look to knock you out. He is not your typical classic pressure fighter.

06-27-2007, 10:53 PM
I voted Winky, just for comedy sake.

Secret Rival
06-27-2007, 11:12 PM
I'd say Pacman ahead of Hatton, they put pressure on right from the first bell. Cotto can look a little lazy at the start of some fights.

teetop
06-27-2007, 11:59 PM
Of that list definitely cotto, but those were some bad choices next to him. Julio Diaz?

mangtiny
06-28-2007, 12:03 AM
cotto
pac
hatton should be there too

MSTR
06-28-2007, 02:05 AM
I wouldn't call Pac a pressure fighter. More of a boxer-PUNCHER with the emphasis being on the puncher. What about Juan "baby bull" Diaz?

deram
06-28-2007, 02:14 AM
It is Kessler, Valero or Pac.

vasquez and katsidis, cotto fought of the back foot at the end of mosley, all during margo and clottey, and a lot after he was hurt by pac....prior to this I would have agreed though his beating of judah was brutal
