Lots of widows out there didn't have a husband that made millions of dollars, and need more money than her. :) I'd rather give money to the Red Cross or an organization like that.

exactly, all these keyboard politicians act like they gotta throw in their 2 worthless cents in it.....it's simple, if you wanna help, help...if not, then don't...but no negativity please....
and whoever called chico dumb, please man, many boxers get blinded by just wanting to fight for the love of the sport and all these pigheaded promotors take advantage of it.....

I am sure that Diego's wife and kids have more money than anyone on this site. Most likely more than the two richest members of this site combined. It seems like everyone is trying to get paid on account of Diego's death and I don't like it. The man was a high level professional fighter with several televised fights. Beyond the money that Corrales left her, she also has 1.2 million dollars coming her way from Castillo.
who's flaming. i just don't belive that diego had absolutely no money when he died. even if he didnt have a will, the rightful beneficiary are his wife and kids. im sure diego had at least a nice mill if not more, not to mention the rest of the family's assets.
He was in deep financial debt, and I'm sure that it's not going to be easy for his wife to provide for all of the kids with Diego being gone. I think I've heard that his entire purse for the Clottey fight, or at least most of it, went towards paying off his debts to the IRS- can anyone verify this? Anyway, I will consider picking up one of these shirts. I remember the family saying that, in lieu of flowers, people should instead donate to the charity of their choice. I thought that was a really classy move.

funny if he's broke he died on one of the most desired and thus expensive superbikes in the world. Pisses me off when people try to make a quick bit of cash off the back of a warrior like Corrales' name.

There was an ESPN.com article last year, I think, that detailed the financial troubles of Diego. It stated that he was in deep financial debt, including owing money on cash advances he had taken from his promoter. I'll have to try to find the article to get specifics, but I remember e-mailing the article to friends to show them just how much of a boxers purse is eaten up before he gets his cut.

I agree this is fucking retarded...everytime a boxer dies, it's "lets help their family" who wouldn't be able to survive off of the 3 million per fight salaries their husbands leave...sell your fucking three houses, eight cars, and two boats for God's sake. When a military members spouse dies, they get a check for 250 grand which is taxed and used to bury their loved ones...then they are told to take care of your finances and kids for the next 60 years with what ever the hell you have left...I'm not buying a shirt (for fucking $30 I might add) to support someone's Gucci fetish

He owed quite a bit of money, including a large amount to the IRS. Shaw raped him financially for years. Unfortunately, there are many fighters who are not educated enough to know when they are being fucked over money-wise. Chico wasn't the first, and he won't be the last.

I think what my fellow are tryin to say is that "official" boxing websites would have made something about that. When it is about helping boxers family, f***news or *****news are always on the scene.
That's why some people are a little cautious. I don't mind helpin Diego's family but if my money is on the line I would rather make sure it goes to the good person and not some opportunist bastards.

Chico was broke when he died.
Who's fucking problem was that...I mean he was on his brand new 2007 bike when he wrecked. If I died today no one would give my hard working ass or my family shit, let alone buy a shirt with my face on it. He has made millions in his life, I don't even think I've made half a million in mine. The point in this post isn't arguing about respecting his legacy in the ring or respecting his family in their time of mourning it's about the fact that it's not the average joe's responsibility to provide for someone who didn't invest in his families future. I make 50 grand a year and have 2 life insurances that value a 1 million, i take care of mine with a fraction of his paycheck. He squandered it...point blank.

I know that she would get Castillo's money for Hatton but my question is WHY?
It's ridiculous, Castillo lost money too because the third fight didn't happen.
I'm not hating on Corrales or his wife, but seriously, it's just not right.
Could anyone explain why she should get that money?

I am a boxing fan, but Ii agree that raising money for the wife of a dead boxer seems lets say strange. I do not know her or anything about her. Even if I believe that she has been left very little by Chico she is in a far better position than most of the worlds poor simply by being in America.
It is not having a go at her etc, but if I had a spare $30 to give to a charity it would be one that either benefits the mass majority of people, ie Cancer research or one that aims to change the lives of a few truly desperate individuals such as operations in places like Cambodia that try to stop the use of child prostitutes in the worst slums etc.
He was driving a Honda CBR 1000RR its one of the best bikes Honda makes but it's nothing "super". It only goes for $11,500 brand new. I have two.

A well intended thread going nowhere. That Diego did not prepare for the future for his family is unfortunate, but he is certainly not alone in this miss step.
A corporate assistance program by the casino's and promoters is the only viable plan to correct this issue.

Some of you guys are going deep and unnecessarily so.
It's a good looking t shirt. I might get one. Only 15quid, cheaper then a Nike t shirt and the money goes to a better cause than some big company.
Fact is, what Diego did with his money etc is of no matter. He was a great representative for the sport.

"Only viable plan"? I don't mean to come across as callous, but the boxers don't work for the casinos, so I don't know why they would be responsible for a boxer's money woes. How about a little personal responsibility? Look at Bernard Hopkins. He got ripped off by a promoter early in his career and struggled for a long time with purses below what the should have been getting as the IBF champ. But even before the Trinidad fight Hopkins was at least comfortable financially, based in a large part on living within his means. Boxers like Chico get taken sometimes, but plenty of other boxers are able to handle their business.
Whether you make millions in the ring or 300 bucks a week at Wal Mart, it's up to you to take care of your money.

I can't find the sort of Ts that I like. I wish I could. Generally what I see is a little whack.
One website had some sick shit, me and my mate spent over $300 but were then told about shipping taxes or some bollocks and left it or we would have been charged about $600 or something stupid.

Chico was not broke when he died. Broke to people who make Millions is only having a million or so left, not including all of your assets like whatever homes, cars, life insurance policies, and so forth. Also, you have to remember that his wife still has 1.2 million dollars coming to her from Castillo.
