"Battleship" Povetkin.

Povetkin by stoppage. Gomez beat a 42 year old McCall who is slow and immobile. Povetkin is fast, mobile, has great combinations, and will the fight very uncomfortable for Gomez. Gomez has neither the strength, skill, or power to withstand Sasha.

very close fight thanks to Gomez ring-generalship and his lateral movement...this would be a harder fight for Povetkin than Byrd already is...

This would be one of the worst style matchups out there for Povetkin. I'd give the edge to Povetkin on activity.

JCGomez is very good but not known well. He was a very dominant cruiser weight champion, but lost some precious years due to managerial problems. He has great hand and foot speed, skills and some power ,usually easily outboxes his opponents. His KO % is also high, so he can knock ppl out, but at heavies he is more content with fast arm punches outboxing them and does not go for risky big punches. He can be a threat for anyone including povetkin and wlad.

If the old and slow McCall can get to Gomez then Povetkin will knock him out.
I am not impressed with Gomez even though I stated he would easily beat the "B" grade McCall. Gomez is soft and has little desire to take punishment required to get to the top. Povetkin busts him up and Gomez gets koed or finds a way to get out of the fight. Either way don't be fooled by his slick style. Povetkin has more skills better speed and most importantly the willingness to go to war. Povetkin by ko.

Gomez hand speed can't be matched by any heavyweight of today, though he has problems on the inside when slowing down - but it could be a very hard time for Povetkin fr at least 8 rounds and this overhand left by Gomez is nothing to joke about...

Povetkin is as fast as Gomez on the outside and faster at putting punches together on the inside. Like I said before Gomez is soft and not willing to pay the price. His spitting out the mouthpeice every time Sam hit him with any force at all says it all. Combine that with getting ktfo in about 30 seconds by a no name and you have a classic underachiver. I am not saying he has no skills because he is talented. At some point even the most gifted fighters have to go to war. Gomez IMO is not willing to go to war. He simply does not have it in him.

Povetkin would KO Gomez, Alex is far to busy in the ring for Gomez to cope with, he would bull Gomez into the ropes and combination him to a 6th round stoppage. JCG is better suited to the immobile 40+ boxers like McCall who can't be arsed to drive inside and chop him down.

Yeah anyone who wants to compare how Gomez did vs the 42 year old McCall to how he would do vs the 28 year old Povetkin, who is a more mobile and faster fighter than a prime McCall, is making a huge mistake.

it surprises me how all of the sudden McCall became an stiff 42 yrs old bum, before the fight againts Gomez i saw so many threats mentioning how ripped McCall was,how ready, how good he looked against Sinan.Than Gomez took him to school and he went back to the shame list.
Povetkin has a big test in front of him, even if this is a rusty Byrd, past his prime, still i hope he has the speed and footwork to test the talented russian.
Styles make a fight, never forget that.
