At heavyweight, of course. How does it end?

Tyson KO1

I think Roy could hold him off for a little while but eventually Tyson would get to him. Tyson would put him in the corner and where Roy could usually pot shot to the head and body enough to get most opponents to back off, he wouldn't have enough power to even so much as get Tysons attention. Tyson KO 3.

How does it end? With a Mike Tyson knockout win.

I'm a huge Roy Jones fan and I think he's an ATG, but I am also realistic. I'm afraid the only reason Tyson would need medical attention is to remove pieces of Roy's skull out of his knuckles.

Prime Jones was phenomenal, but even a glancing shot from a prime Tyson would've had him in trouble. The fight would've been an awesome spectacle while it lasted but as soon as Tyson connected with anything half decent it would've been over.

How is Roy going to hold off a 1986-1988 Tyson for any significant amount amount of time? (And by significant, I mean how the fuck is Roy going to make it out of the first round against a prime Tyson?)

Roy was slick, but against a prime Tyson, he gets knocked out. Tyson would be able to land on Roy, and when he did it would mean pain. Knockout win for Tyson.

Style wise this is like Foreman-Frazier, Roy would get hurt and hurt bad. If your going to match RJJ up with a heavyweight of this calibre then look at Holyfield, I think Jones would cause him fits but would probably get caught late on.

I t would end with Jones running out of the ring after the stare down. That's if he didn't have a panic attack in the dressing room.

Nah, he'd at least try to survive for the money. Anyone would. He would have made 10-15 mil for this massacre.

why are you putting Jones against a heavyweight like Tyson :/

They would have to hit him with the same radiation that made Hulk for Jones to win.

Jones makes Tyson quit just like he always did when faced with adversity.

Agreed, all he'd have to do is not be intimidated, stand up to Tyson, and punch back to beat Tyson.

Punisher33
10-22-2007, 09:04 PM
Ruddick stood up to Tyson and hit with his signature punch, the smash. Jones has also showed his weakness as well, if Tyson hit him with one left hook Jones would be looking up into the lights again.

Agreed, Prime Tyson was SOOO quick and powerful it was ridiculous. I watched him punch natural 220 pound heavies and send them flying across the ring, I can't see how Roy is going to handle that sort of power.

MSTR
10-22-2007, 09:13 PM
I know seriously, Tyson folded as soon as anyone stood up to him.
You are joking right?

Punisher33

Bottom line, Tyson never got into the ring with a beast like Jones, and would get his ears boxed off before quitting around mid fight. He just never had what it took to stand in there with a phenom like Jones. A prime Tyson never quit even when all the chips were down against Douglas, Tyson only started that at the end of his career. If Jones would of got hit clean with a hook it would of been over, now Tyson in 02 vs Jones 02 now that would be 50/50 match IMO.

this is not much different than saying prime PBF verse prime RJJ, or Prime Morales against prime Hops, maybe prime Pac vs. prime McClellan. I can go on and on when you ask ridiculous questions your gonna get obvious answers, and i'm a huge Roy fan

does anyone think tyson was more of a physical/ athletic freak than rjj? rjj in his prime was a freak of nature, but i always found prime tyson more of a freak. some of the fastest hands at heavyweight, quickest heavyweight i've seen, crushing power etc....

tyson by brutal ko 1 after uppercutting rjj head off, by the way.

Roy's main asset is speed, and a young Tyson might have only been a hair slower nullifying his only real advantage.

:huh

Foreman was a huge puncher and Frazier was a come-forward fighter. Tyson is a huge puncher but Roy is everything but a come-forward fighter. I don't see how it is comparable to Foreman-Frazier other than that one of them (Jones) will be knocked out badly.

Tyson absolutely destroys lesser fighters, more so than fighters who are better than him like Ali.

Well I didn't necessarily mean he would hold him off with punches...I should have said he might be able to stay away from him for a couple rounds.

That about sounds right. RJJ would escape Tyson's barages for maybe a round or two but eventually, he will get caught and then it's over.

Tyson without a doubt was fast, but he was very fast for a heavyweight, I honestly dont believe he hand near the handspeed of Roy did, and thats not a diss on Tyson obviously since Roy has probably top 3 all time when he comes to P4P handspeed

Metal Man
10-23-2007, 06:41 PM
i'll have a feeling they'd need some industrial type machinary to scrape the remains of Roy from the canvas.Tyson obliterated pysically bigger stronger more powerful men than Jones,so its not an exaguration to say that he could possibly kill Jones with a flush powerful left hook with all the weight and torque behind it if landed clean.
