quick question- im new to boxing (and dont have any experience in wrestling, horse jockeying, or anything where "cutting weight" is common).
my question is, assuming someone is very lean (if this makes a difference), about how far under one's "walking around" weight would you want to fight at? 10 pounds seems about right?
I am 6 foot and a half, and about 180 pounds at like 8 pct body fat. I think I could get to the point (lessening any weightlifting) where I'd be 165-170 walking around. Would 160 be the division I'd want to fight in, or is it common to lose more than 10 lbs of water, etc before fighting?
I noticed that Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik came in at like 166 and 168 for their recent fight, which is less of a post-weigh-in gain than I would have expected.
Thoughts?
thanks in advance...
