Just a small flash in the pan.... or will boxing actually see anything from the country? I've my doubts they can can produce much more than vodka and beet soup personally. Goes with the history of the country
They've got oil at present, I guess that makes them something..what? A third world nothing with a buch of third rate boxing talent... that's what!

Boxing is becoming more popular and Russia can compete professionally. They've already blasted just about every American heavyweight out of the top10 and they're here to stay. Well, East Europeans that is.

I'd rather read about a third world communist country being led by a former KGB twerp who couldn't whip his way out of a wet paper sack.
Oh yeah, there are a couple of recent boxing nothings from there as well. Assuming of course Chagaev is actually Russian, and not a person from Uzbekistan!
Forgive me for going outside the realm of classic boxing... some things just need to be said.

Have you seen any amateur championships with Russian boxers? Last Olympic games?

Well, guess how little talent is here, as compared to USA, for example:
22nd Olympic games, Athens ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Team classification
1. Cuba 5-2-1
2. Russia 3-0-3
5. USA 1-0-1

Sorry for the belated reply, was chatting with some UK mates. Yes, Cuba did quite well, nothing new in that.

Why don't you give some names of Cuban boxers who were champions in the pro's recently, to boast about how much you know about them?

You can do the boasting about all of Putins accomplishments............. a limited list, from a limited person, which in turn equates to a limited people... Sorry, that's just the way we see it.

So you can't list any recent Cuban pro champions? Ah, well, and I hoped to learn anything at all from you.
