View Full Version : Calloway turns down Enzo Mac

10-23-2007, 10:33 PM
Enzo's opponent then STILL undecided as Rob Calloway has posted on boxrec saying that he wasnt going to take the Enzo fight on such short notice.
Hopefully ****** will run out of opponents to match him with and we'll get to see the fight the fans want Ding vs Enzo.
Or...
****** could do what he's been doing for 20years and we'll see Enzo in the ring on Nov3 with someone like Ray Mercer or Bobby Gunn rematch.:patsch

Ding would lay out Enzo and he knows it, Ding should be going against guys that our in his league like Bell, Mormeck, and Haye. Ding has the chin and pop to give any one trouble at cruiser IMO.

Calloway is turning the fight down because it's short notice and also probably because ****** asked for a crazy amount of options. Like he pretty much always does.

Yeah, but at 38 you can't expect the champ to come to your
hometown. You have to step up and take the opportunity because its
likely not to return anytime soon. In Rob's case(38yo), time is of the
essence, especially while he's been active and on a roll.:good

Wasn't Calloway publicly calling out Enzo like a week ago? If you're a C+ level fighter at the end of his career, you don't just turn down a title shot because the money is bad or the other promoter has options, unless you seriously think the other fighter could end your career and halt your earning potential. I could see Calloway being one of those types who continues to fight D level opponents and prospects for the next 7 or 8 years after 1 more big fight (a la Buck Smith), but I think only the WBO ranks him, so I'm a bit surprised that he turned down the biggest fight he was going to get there.

Less than two weeks to go.
Would you still take the fight (of course assuming that the money is right)?

I have to assume Ding's been training for it. He knows there are limited options. As I see it, there are only about 5 potential opponents left, unless they want to cancel the fight or make it a non-title fight. WBO top 15:
1 Marco Huck GER - Mandatory for IBF, has another fight scheduled
2 David Haye GB - Scheduled fight with Mormeck
3 Johnathon Banks (NABO) USA - Not currently training
4 Vincenzo Cantatore ITA - TBA announced for December; probably too far off to already be in training
5 Gregory Drozd (Asia-Pacific) RUS - Already has a fight scheduled with a real opponent
6 Giacobbe Fragomeni ITA - ??
7 Darnell Wilson USA - Ready and waiting
8 Herbie Hide GB - Like Universum would stick him in with a puncher
9 O'Neil Bell USA - Not in training
10 Alexander Alexeev (Int-Cont) RUS - ??
11 Alexander Gurov UKR - Might be a viable option; training for the omnipresent TBA
12 Rudolf Kraj CZE - ??
13 Rob Calloway USA - Refused fight
14 Wayne Braithwaite GUY - Already beat him recently
15 Vadim Tokarev RUS - Also dangerous, but did fight a few weeks ago and won by early KO, so might be ready

Other than Gurov, he's probably the least dangerous of the remaining opponents who are ranked. Of course, being Frank ******, he can probably convince the WBO to approve some scrub who isn't even close to being ranked in their top 15 if need be.
Unless he also prices himself out, my money's on Gurov, who's old and slow and overranked.
it is rumored ****** is scrutining boxing rec and is currently on his 458th phone call today and finnally found a fighter
ivor nobolloxov who has accepted the fight for 3 sheep/2 pigs and options on a lada.
Smith

Other than Gurov, he's probably the least dangerous of the remaining opponents who are ranked..I dont agree:-( Giacobbe is a solid fighter. Again, higher risk and lower reward, more so than some of the other contenders.

a WBO cruiserweight World title is not that big of a deal IMO
More titles than very good fighters in that particular divisionoi calm down:roll:

wilson

Pull the other one mate!
You actually thought his name was Ding didn't you!!:D
Brickhaus
10-24-2007, 10:27 AM
I realize you're a Haye fan, but Fragomeni is small, slow and has little power. He's not a threat to KO Macca, which is greater than half the threat of him losing. All the other guys have one punch KO power, and all of them other than Wilson can box pretty well too.

STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not a groupie, but justify Sellers and calloway over Ding:scaredas: :yikes
:rofl Its a fucking JOKE:lol:
Wilson has positioned himself for an opportunity with KO VICTORIES and is certainly a worthy challenger.
If Macaroni is the CHEESIEST?? Then let the taste test begin:yep
****** looks like the pathetic promoter trying to stuff a turkey rather than helping his fighter get to the top.
NOTE; Macarenill himself is free and clear from blame. he cant help it his promoter is s self serving clown who's behaviour is part of whats wrong with the sport. If I was him though? Soon as the contract's up??

Na Ding feels no pain, can knock out anybody!!!!!
What a pathetic question, why do half the posters on ESB make Ding out to be an elite wrecking machine, ok he is on a good run but c'mon guys, just because he posts here dont always try to suck up to him.

I like Ding - he's my kind of fighter (crushing punch, iron chin), and he seems like a real nice guy. But that's not the only reason I think he blows out Maccarinelli. Enzo was starched by some tomato can - and lest people think that's some sort of fluke, he's been rocked by ordinary fighters SINCE then. The guy has, at the least, a SERIOUSLY suspect chin.
Ding doesn't HAVE to be the more skilled fighter against this guy. All he he has to do is get ONE solid punch in and this shaky chinned hype job will fold like an accordian. :yep
And he will get that punch in - which is why ****** and Maccarinelli don't want to be in the same ARENA with him, let alone the same ring!

He was a novice himself when KO'ed by Lee Swaby.
At least you achknowledge Mac has the better skills.:yep:yep
Yes you will have to be skilled to land a punch on Enzo's chin. A year or so ago I would of agreed but Enzo's Improved alot.

Well since I'm just a caveman with no skill throwing hayemakers, why
the fuck has ****** gone to 4 other guys besides me when I was
willing to accept the minimum $ and options.:think
You guys highly underrate my skills, I'm a proven master of timing
and that I'm a bigger puncher than Bell and Mormeck(check common
opponents). Good thing for Enzo's health that ****** doesn't think like
a caveman like some of the posters here. When I had those 4 loses I
fought with a major physical impairment thats well documented across
the web. I've been getting treatment for it since mid last year when it
was discovered, hence the recent KO's over world class opposition. :thumbsup

Call Ding whatever you want, but there is a reason why this fight hasn't been made: Ding will KO glass-jawed Enzo :deal. If Frank wasn't afraid, why would he avoid an openly available #7 ranked fighter and try to get one who isn't even ranked?

Just for the record, I'm not convinced that Maccarinelli has "better skills." It's far closer than many here seem to think. What I do know FOR SURE is that Maccarinelli doesn't take anywhere NEAR the punch that you do - which I think would make the difference in this fight.
And, like you say, the proof is in the pudding - you're available, Maccarinelli needs an opponent, but your phone ain't ringing. :-( That tells me that Maccarinelli's handlers know that he'd be headin' for a brutal beatdown if they took the fight! :nod
Yo Ding....been meaning to ask you. Have you ever been hurt by a punch?
Yeah a little. When I fought Emmanuel, there was a shot behind the
head. I was buzzed for about 15sec. Nobody else knew, just
me.:D
When I fought Owen Beck(246), he hit me with a body shot that
caught me off guard. I didn't let him or anyone else know that it
bothered me a little. Yo man, when I fought him I was fat as a mother
and really won the fight. Anyone who was there will tell you. He was
out on his feet at the end of the 7th. I had no gas to finish him
however. LOL
To the people who don't already know, I took that fight
on 3 days notice way outta shape. I had a life situation and needed the
money, no regrets. :deal

I didn't say you had no skill.
You seem to like to trade more than box and that works to your advantage because your chins solid and you can bang because you stay flat footed to put your full weight Into the punch. You mention your power too much In your posts and do seem power reliant as well.
Just because Frank might think Enzo could lose doesn't mean Enzo would lose or agree with Frank.
Enzo hits as hard as you at the least as well.
Not saying your telling lies or not but some sites have you down as a possible choice for Enzo, yet you think he's looking elsewhere.
No offence either but you got to Dale Brown and Davis by the time they were not world class contenders even though you are a solid top 10.
Problems In the ring or not, you didn't have to fight with those physical Impairments.

:nono I'll have to upload some clips so you can see the difference between his knockouts and mine. If I ever fight Braithwaite, he'll be done inside 5.:deal

In addition to your being out of shape, and taking the fight on short notice, you also went up to heavyweight. That's not your division.
