I predict another 'mercer v wlad' type fight with huggers and the gernam press going on like it was an amazing victory against a peak american.
i'm not taking anything away from povetkin as he's a decent pro, and byrds no can. but it's not anything amazing if he wins IMO, it's expected.

Considering he is taking on Byrd in his what 13th-14th pro fight i would say beating Byrd at this stage is pretty good!

It would be very impressive he he can beat Byrd in a dominant fashion as the only two fighters to have done so are powerhouses in Klitschko and Ibeabuchi. Granted Byrd is well past his prime, but Povetkin has only had 13 fights. I would put him in the top 10 heavyweights if he can beat Byrd tomorrow.

Povetkin is challenging himself. Byrd is still a top 15 heavy. It would be a huge win for Povetkin.

If BYRD shows some of his youthfullnes and POVETKIN conquers that style, it speaks VOLUMES of the young fighters abilities.

Both fighters will come in fat and out of shape. It will be a boring hugfest. Just another day in the heavyweight circus.

Nevermind, Byrd weighed in at 211.8, which is a good weight for him..

This fight might be much more difficult fight to Povetkin than we can assume..Byrd is skilled fighter and not easy to KO...Povetkin by points.

Byrd has never come into any fight fat or out of shape. Chris trains everyday and is a gym rat.

Unless Byrd has slipped beyond his years. This should be an easy outing for him. It is Byrd's to win or lose.

Byrd has a slick defense that most europeans haven't yet witnessed. Povetkin will have to start slow to learn Chris's footwork and angles before he can lean in and start clobbering away. I see Povetkin frustrated early and thrown off his game plan. Byrd will fight his fight countering with quick snappy flurries for points. CB by UD in a upset.

An aging Golota nearly beat Byrd. A young, skilled fighter like Povetkin who is not physically and mentally fucked should have more success than Golota had.

Chris Byrd is a tough fight for anyone who is roughly the same size as him. The guy has a lot of boxing skills. This is a tough fight for a relative newbie to the pro game like Po-fore-skin. I can easily see the younger guy being frustrated by the defensive skils and counterpunching of Byrd. I'll take Poforeskin in a close decision (due to homecourt advantage) but will not be suprised if it goes the other way. Bryd is a better fighter than many of you give him credit for.
Also, the endurance to go ten hard rounds is something that is developed slowly, over time, as is the knowledge of how to pace yourself to have something left for the tenth. Win or lose this fight, Poforeskin will learn a lot in this fight and will emerge a better fighter for having gone through it.

Ibeabuchi was not losing to Byrd. He walked him down until the stoppage. And he did so by keeping his punches short and hard to the body/arms.
