In the same way that some guys have good chins, some guys have good livers i.e. they can take a bodyshot.

Thus,

100 proof liver ~ Iron chin
Lager liver ~ good chin
Lily liver ~ poor chin
Douchewater liver ~ china chin

Any examples for each category?

I remember Leonard Dorin being felled like a tree a couple of years back by Gatti...:lol: ...lily or douchewater liver...I cannot decide!

Eh what about that cat who Jorge Barrios fought (Janos Nagy?) on the undercard of the Barrera Juarez I card.

Barrios thought about hitting him in the liver about ten seconds into the fight and dude collapsed right then and there. It was my first live fight and I was like, WTF! :-(

I guess this is the right way of looking at it...in the same way that we look for suspect chins we should look for suspect livers...because unlike with chins, no one would keep hitting the liver if he thought you're not very susceptible to that shot...would they?

So any more lily/douchewater livers out there?

Anyone remember any more KOs from bodyshots?:think

Just youtubed it. Looks like he took one a few seconmds before in the same spot. Rest of the card must've been good, I'd've been throwing shit into the ring if I'd paid my money for that.

Hell, if you can't even take two shots, that's a nasty douchewater liver. Everyone qoutes Judah as a weakling when he took many body shots from Cotto, only to be stopped on his feet.

it is sometimes easy to underestimate bodyshots, especially since the effect is not always immediately apparent...unlike shots to the chin which are more dramatic...am I right?:think

I still think Nagy took a dive, that shot at that point shouldn't of put him out... same with Dorin.

Though the Nagy was worse, biggest let down in a fight I was looking forward to in a long time.

I'm not sure if that shot exactly hit the liver, but this guy has a very shaky midsection. One right hand over there is all it took to make him quit like a pussy.

When I think of fighters who don't like it to the body, Randall Bailey and Jesse Brinkley are the first to spring to mind.

It's good, except Toney is an iron man too, if you saw the beating Samuel Peter dished out and knowing that 15 years ago, Toney was a SMW.

Khan is douchewater, Mayorga wasn't Lily, he just took an insane beating and was exhausted, watch that fight and you'll see.

And DLH getting hurt by Floyd to the body....:lol:

Wayne McCullough , amazingly his liver(as you're putting it) is even better than his chin .

McCullough's comeback fight is off btw for anyone interested , his opponent had problems getting into Ireland and McCullough cancelled because he didn't feel focussed(he had been waiting ages for the opponent and then it didn't look like it was gonna go through) even though the opponent eventually got clearance .

He was meant to be fighting Francisco Mateos .

Well De La Hoya is definitly has a Lily Liver. Everytime he gets belted to the body you can clearly see him being affected by it.

But Brinkley takes the cake here. Out of the notable fighetrs out there he must have the worst ability to absorb body shots of them all. Guy goes down from a body shot like a fucking club fighting bum.

Judah I think belongs in the Lager Liver category. He absorbed many a body shot from Miguel Cotto and never once gave in to the torture. He also took a mega left hook to the liver from maybe the hardest hitting body puncher of them all Mickey Ward, and although hurt, he didn't go down.

Mate, if Judah did somehow bounce back, I don't see any other WW stopping him if he comes in like that, that was a brutal beating and he absorbed 3x what Carlos Quintana did and probably could have even made it to the final bell.

I think that's wishful thinking on your part Amsterdam. I'll give the guy props for the extreme toughness that he showed against Cotto, he revealed a lot about himself that night. But what he also revealed is that like in his youth, he can never stay fully committed to a set gameplan. He may be the most naturally talented out of any fighter out there but his inconsitency is what always held his potential back.. and that beating he received from Cotto probably took a great degree of that talent away. I don't think he'll ever be quite the same.

Sure he can still probably fuck up guys like Cintron and Gatti with ease. But the elites of his weight division will always have his number.

No, don't get me wrong, the elite's will get him. I just meant that it's going to be hard to STOP him, meaning get a KO or TKO if he remained as durable as he did vs. Cotto.

I'd probably even take Collazo over Judah in the end, but I'm not sure about guys like Cintron and Clottey, whom aren't very impressive.

I don't see either stopping him, Clottey is so inactive and is overrated and doesn't move well, which gives Judah the oppurtunity to box and get rounds.

Collazo would beat Judah, I'm sure of that. Collazo UD.

Gert Bo Jacobsen probably had more liver KOs than anything else. He went for the liver in every fight.

You probably already know but Mundine despite having a dodgy chin seems to take it really well to the body, never even seen him slow down from good body blows.
