I look at this two ways.
1) A mis-match recognized as such before the fight. Tyson Spinks was a good example of this. I remember seeing an article beforehad with a characaturrized illustration of the two fighting; Tyson swining a giant hammer for a fist and Spinks flailing away with an oversized flyswatter held in his glove. The vast majority of people I know and read about thought Tyson would make short work of Spinks. My heart was rooting for Spinks, but my head said this is a mismatch.
2) A mis-match that was supposed to be an all-time great fight or a coming out party for one of the contestants. Frazier Foreman was not envisioned by many to turn out the way it was. Most thought Frazier was just too tough and skilled for Foreman, including me, although I was only 10 @ the time.
To many, Calzeghe vs. Lacy was supposed to the passing of a cherry picking champion to the hands of a superfighter in the making. Did'nt work out quite the way many if not most anticipated.

That is what I think.
i dunno man. spinks was the last person to beat holmes in the heavyweight division and holmes was the man at that point. So the last person to beat the man in the heavys was spinks, so tyson beat the man that beat the man. Spinks was not some joke. Tyson just eradicated his ass like everyone else during that few years when he was actually hungry.

He said biggest fight.
Calzaghe v Lacy isn't even on the same stratosphere as PBF v Oscar, or even Lewis v Tyson. It just doesn't hold the same weight, independent of the outcome, the fight wasn't huge running up to it.
Tyson vs Spinks was huge, mainly because of Tyson and what he was doing up that point, but it was a huge event.
Honestly don't think most gave Spinks much of a chance, but then again, at that time NOBODY game ANYONE a chance against Mike. Yet, even those who thought Tyson would destroy Spinks had to be surprised with how quickly he made Spinks crumble, the truth is Spinks lost that fight before the bell ever rang, but that was the aura of Tyson at the time, the fear he brought to the opposition.
I think that wins hands down what the title of this thread asks.
It was the biggest fight, that was an absolute mismatch in fighters.

Gotta go with Frazier/Foreman.
Tyson-Spinks was a mismatch, but honestly every time Tyson got in the ring there was a pretty good chance he would decapitate his opponent in the first round, regardless of how well they were fighting. Spinks got fucked up, but I don't think it was as much of a mismatch as the blowout indicates - Spinks definately had the potential to at least last a few rounds (and that is impressive enough when you're facing Tyson), he just get caught and stopped early.
Foreman-Frazier on the other hand, that fight was as one-sided as possible. Frazier had NO WAY to win that fight, as you could see from the SIX knockdowns. He was fighting his heart out, but he was in there with an animal. Best example of a TERRIBLE styles matchup that nobody saw coming :good

B-Hop vs Trindad.
Considering all the shit and hype about tito at the time, he was peak and KO'ing fools so bad. No one was talking about Hopkins at all, like he was some random guy/nobody. Was so much of a mismatch it was ridiculous.

calzaghe vs lacy was very big as i remember, the fight kept on being cancelled or called off, they couldn't decide where to do it until finally lacy agreed to come down to the UK, it was massive.

Biggest one this year in terms of big PPV attraction. It's ridiculous that Floyd picks Hatton when he has a whole WW crop that is superior to Hatton.

I dont really see this fight fitting into this category. The consensus seems to be that Hatton is a considerable underdog. ...Unless Pim C meant Hatton's going to win

Honestly man a Herbie Hide fight doesn't really fall under the category of "biggest fight"

Honestly man a Herbie Hide fight doesn't really fall under the category of "biggest fight"true but at the time brit fans were thinking that herbie could be top of the rung in the heavywieghts. he was a top 10 heavy and in britian got a big reception...then boom knocked off by vitali and that was the end. kinda like audley harrison is today

Brewster quit from Wlad's jab alone and was never in the fight at all.
