What's the news? Anyone know? Has he finally hung the gloves up (I doubt it) or is he fighting tomato cans?

He'll be back from his suspension soon, which means expect to see him against regional journeymen until he can get a bigger fight.

Also expect him to weight 240+ pounds.

I believe Toney is shot. He's an ATG and should really hang up his gloves. His overall health seems to be deteriorating.

But what else is he going to do to make this kind of money?

As long as there is money to be made, and he wants to continue, and is healthy enough to be cleared to fight, let him fight.

Does he need the money? If so, he will definitely fight. But if he has put away money and been relatively smart with it, he should hang up the gloves.

He is incoherent now and not too healthy physically. He's going to have major health problems as he ages.

Toney is completely shot. I saw him fight live against Batchelder and it was sad. He has looked bad against competition that he doesn't get motivated for before, but I mean he just looked absolutely terrible in every way. It makes Peter's loss to him (1st fight) look even worse.

I think he may get stopped if he ever faces a top HW again.

To me, he has to be one of the greatest. What middleweight can blow up to Heavyweight full of grease, grisle and just pure KFC. And actually be competitive with top tier heavyweights. NONE. James Toney, FAT POWER. He is living proof that the fat man has a hero.

What was so incredible about his heavyweight run? kayoing 43 yr old holyfield? or was it his gift draw against washed up rahman who hasnt had a win of note since beating Lewis. or was it his decision over perennial dissapointment Guinn? or cheating during his heavyweight run? or two losses to peter?

or are you one of those delusional people that think that toney has been robbed in every loss of his career?

Toney is done sadly, no surprise though when you look at his career. He was in many wars against top opponents, he didn't pick and choose his way through a load of chumps like Mayweather or Hopkins did, as examples.

In all fairness he was ducked by Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Gerald Mccllean, Jullian Jackson none of these guys wanted anything to do with him in the 90's despite big money offers & very public challenges you might not like his mouth or his act BUT if you can't set that aside and admire the mans skill then you must have never REALLY watched him fight

he has INCREDIBLE skills, but I think he is overrated based on longevity, and his long career is never analyzed.

As long as there is money to be made, and he wants to continue, and is healthy enough to be cleared to fight, let him fight.I agree he should be allowed to fight if he wants to...but I can't seehow he needs money.

Toney is shot.

He showed that in the fight against Peter and Batchelder. This inactiveness isn't good.

He also showed signs of decline even before, in the fights against Rahman and the first fight against Peter. He was very different -and much better- against Holyfield, Guinn and Ruiz.

Well, seems as if Roach is fed up training him, so he'll continue with another trainer after his suspension. I guess he'll be back in the ring early next year.
