Hopkins is the biggest money fight Calzaghe could hope for.

A fight with Woods, Bute, or Dawson won't be any bigger than the Kessler fight, which don't get me wrong was big ofcourse, but if Calzaghe wants the astronomical payday fight that the whole world will be interested in then he need not look any further than B-Hop. Not to mention a fight with Woods or Bute will do little for Calzaghe's legacy.

A fight with Dawson on the other hand will probably account for something but nothing as much as a fight with Hopkins will. Calzaghe is already being touted as " past-his-best " so a fight with the also past-his-best Hopkins is his best bet for a big payday and a mainstream achievement.


As I've said before.. Calzaghe vs Hopkins = Hagler vs Leonard. :good

Its hard to blame either guy for taking this fight $-wise, and its--really--hard to criticize it: former MW champ/current LHW champ/Living Legend BHop vs. top P4P'r/GOAT(?)168 lb'r/current & long-reigning SMW champ Calzaghe.

I wouldn't blame BHop for retiring, W-L-D, he can't fight forever!

I'd like to see Joe-C take another couple of fights, if he wins--esp if he does so in dominant fashion.

Actually right now Pavlik is the hottest item at the middleweight level. Hopkins has never been a big draw and never will be.
