I thought about hearns too but there were plenty of fights were he took a lot of punishment. Take the first leanord fight for example. Leanord was a very big puncher at 147 and Tommy took a lot of big shots before finally going out. His chin may not be top notch but I wouldn't call it weak either.

Herbie Hide.

Haye actually enhanced his chin reputation tonight for me. He took some hard right hands without flinching, his problem is his defence. His chin is OK, not much better, but at heavy, he needs to keep his hands up.

Please tell me your kidding, he was knocked out once in his career against an opponent alot bigger than him, and it took that opponent 12 brutal rounds of punishment to finish him off, Tito has never had a weak chin.

People often think that Tito has a weak chin because he had balance issues early in his career

Certainly not. Cuevas had a titanium jaw before Hearns put a permanent dent in it.

Herbie Hide.Worst chin ever, I agree, but certainly not a good fighter. He would qualify as worse fighter ever, with an even worser chin.

I would say Tommy Hearns (even though his chin isn't bad at all) only because if he had the chin of Hagler and SRR he would have been the #1 GOAT and would have never lost in his prime.

Hearns chin wasn't that bad at all.

Ohh its bad enough...reason you think otherwise is because SRL and Hagler were the only two who were great enough to tag him

Lewis.

Grade A china for a Chin, yet managed to make the top 15 heavyweights of all time.

My favorite idiot.:-(

Have to go with Hearns.

Morrison, Wlad, and a few others have more bad defense and footwork than worst chin ever status. Hearns was more on the worse chin level.

Don't forget about Barkley, and how come Mike did not mention all the times Hearns was wobbled

Yeah but I dont give Barkley much credit thats a shell of Tommy

What about lewis chin Macall, and rahman.

He took massive shots in those fights..

I dont like Lewis but look at the guys he beat.

Tua,Tyson,Morrison etc..Massive hitters which didnt faze him..

Losing two fights in a long career by ko but pretty much never really hitting the mat other then in his losts doesnt constitute a china chin..

My man Iron mike lost all his bouts via ko/tko but you wont hear anyone claiming Mike has a glass jaw.

Both Joe Louis and Lennox Lewis are ATGs and have vulnerable chins too.

Anyone voting for Lewis or Jones in this thread is a cunt.

My vote would go to Terry Norris. Hearns hadn't got the best of chins yeah but no way was it glass. Herbie Hide does deserve a mention too because he did actually have good skills, same goes for Kirkland Laing back in the day - he was good enough to beat Roberto Duran skills-wise but also suffered some horrible KO's to nobodies.

This is post is fuckin stupid.

In most US lists he ranks in the top 5. On top of that, he was a HUGE draw over here.

Thing is, he crossed the pond and fought here, giving himself the exposure that others that have not made the trip still lack.

Get ya head out your ass, that bullshit dont apply to Lewis. Try the nationalistic shit with someone else.

Some good picks here. I don't think I really agree with the Cuevas pick, at least pre-Hearns. Before then, he actually had a real good chin. He went south pretty fast after that fight, but before that he was a tough guy.

Roger Mayweather rings a bell, also Bobo Olson's chin was maybe a little dodgy. If we're mentioning Patterson, I think it's fair to add Joe Louis, who tasted the canvas multiple times.

I was just reading an old mag, and he was considered to have the best chin in boxing pre Hearns.

Yup. :good Which makes what Tommy did to him all the more remarkable.
