View Full Version : Hardest Active Punchers P4P
Its a difficult topic. Very hard to rate but my top few would be
(In no particular order)
Wlad Klit
David haye
Kelly Pavlik
Then I guess
Sam Peter (who's power is overrated, but still good)
Jorge Arce?
Vic Darchinyan?
Manny Pac
Kermit Cintron
If you rack your brains, there is not a huge amount of really concussive punchers right now. I am sure I am missing out some obvious ones, so please point them out and give your own lists:good

Cotto and Berto hahahaha, they dont even hit hard, Cintron hits harder than them two put together.
Castillo at 140 wtf?? Witter hits alot harder than Castillo.
Also get your dick out of Dings arse, Haye sends him to sleep.

What do you mean they don't hit hard? Cotto is 11-0 with 9 KOs in title fights. Do you want to rethink that?

I've never seen Shane's face so swollen at a press conference, the man was bleeding from his ear, Cotto never even pressed the issue. Berto's got pop to taking out a game Estrada is not an easy task.
But I agree Haye probably KO's Ding though I wouldnt suggest letting Ding hit Haye either. :!:

Cintron has concussive power. in fact, in his last 3 fights, Estrada, Suarez, and Matthysse, all 3 had concussions and at least 2 of them had to go to the hospital afterwards. I would say he is #1 P4P, with Pavlik either tied or right behind. Wlad is a huge puncher, but since he is a HW, it's kind of hard to do a P4P ranking. oh, and whoever said Cotto and Berto over Cintron is nuts. Those guys have good power, but nothing close to kerm. When kerm sparred against Wlad in camp, Wlad said he could not believe that a guy at that weight could hit that hard.

Gone are the days of Julian Jackson, Roy Jones in his prime at middleweight/super middleweight and Naseem Hamed.
We're missing a genuine one punch KO star in boxing right now.

Yeah those are on the level of ending fights with one punch.....
Guys like Cotto, Hatton, Mosley, Marquez, Manny P they have the ability, their just a step below....would'nt be a smart thing to get hit by any of the above mentioned though...I wouldnt suggest it.:!:

I think Cintron has that type of power. Pacquiao DID at 122, but not 126 and 130.
R. Marquez did as well at one point....there aren't many.

Kermy, Kelly and Haye are quite close.
I have only seen Haye 2 times....so I refrain from saying anything there.
I think Pavlik has Trinidad type power, which is awesome, but he usually hits you, hurts you and then puts you down. I don't feel he is a one punch guy where he hits you and there is no follow up, the fight just ends.
Cintron can do that.

Kermy can do that, with the right technique (Manny Stew) he can be that X factor that everyone know is vulnerable but can put your lights out in the blink of an eye.
Maybe Kermy should move to 154 and blast out that division :think
WW has to many skilled fighters for hime to steam roll them all. If Kermy had a Miguel ora he'd be Welter Weights all powerful Alpha male. :yep

Witter does hit harder than Castillo. Not being funny mate but I don't know if you have actually followed Witters career. Before the Judah fight he wanted to be a slick boxer like Herol Graham, he did not sit on his punches at all and just tried to look like some Sweet Pea stylist.
After losing to Judah he went away and decided to concentrate on his natural power..he then destroyed 15 straight opponents and if you want to see him against someone with a granite chin look at the N'dou fight. N'dou took everything Cotto had to offer and Witter had him down and almost out twice in the first 3 rounds before he broke his hand.
If he lands on you, you are in serious trouble.

Kermit Cintron is IMO the hardest P4P puncher. Well in terms of he will KO you with one. But I dont think that Wlad is too far behind, there arn't that many men in history that hit harder than his Straight right.
Haye
Wlad
Pavlik
I'm surprised there's been no mention of Enzo Maccarinelli... He's a dodging faux-champion IMHO, but the dude does hit rather hard (especially when he hits round the back of the head).
I'll give an honorable mention to Maskaev and all!

Daniel Ponce De Leon needs to be near the top of any such list. Seems like people also keep forgetting Rafael Marquez, who has 33 KOs in 37 wins, frequently against top opposition.

You're right about Pavlik. I am a HUGE fan of "The Ghost," but he is not a one punch KO artist, nor is he a guy that can turn a fight around with a single punch. I think the best explanation of Kelly's power came from Bronco McKart: "It's not that he hits that hard. It's just that everything he throws has something on it." That's what "Superman" said after he suffered his first TKO loss in more than 50 fights. Kelly sits down on his punches like few others out there today. And his follow-up is amazing. Just like with JT, watch closely and you'll see that the beginning of the end actually took place when Kelly landed a pefect 1-2 in the middle of the ring. That combo stunned Taylor, and Kelly just went after him with ruthless agression.:bbb

I like that McKart quote. There are definately different forms of power. A guy like Librado andrade doesnt throw those 1 punch KOs, but gets a lot of KOs by throwing hard shots consistantly.
