I think you are right. Tito LOVES the adulation, he LOVES his people.

Fact is, he isn't happy that PR now LOVES Cotto in much the same fashion.

Tito blatently sees Cotto on the PR Parade, he sees the fans go MENTAL at his fights and it irks him.

Boxers like to get paid but they like other things too. One of those things is winning and another is the adulation.

Look at someone like Floyd, Calzaghe etc all bitter cos they lack adulation that lesser fighters like Hatton, Cotto etc get

Thing is, Tito is too ballsy. If he came back, got some C and B wins under his belt, his credibility would be ok. As it is, he may just be a name on someones record now. People will still tune in because its Trinidad.

This question should be asked after Cotto's next two fights ... 1. the Margarito-Williams winner and 2. Any 1 of Hatton/Mayweather/Mosley/DeLaHoya ... Winning two of those potential fights would solidify his status among the best, and the answer to the "Cotto-Trinidad" debate would be unanimous ... Trinidad is coming back, why not just let them settle it in the ring.

Many would think that Trinidad is finished and Cotto would kill him. On the other hand, Cotto's style fits Trinidad, like Vargas and Mayorga's did. Not that I should compare Cotto to Vargas and Mayorga, but I doubt that a bout between Cotto and Trinidad today would not be an easy win for Cotto.
