I think ESPN gets carried away with Teddy Atlas. Ok, fights ar ein his area,or near it. So we see his alleged day in town. Then later, the football nonsense. He gets more time than many fighters on there.

I never complained about Atlas as a commentator but today i officially grew sick of hearing talk about the tall guy fighting or not fighting as the taller fighter.

Not only does he talk about this same shit everytime a taller fighter doesnt fight tall but he cant seem to stop talking about it for the ENTIRE fight.

His downside IMO is his constant critiqueing of every fighter not fighting the way he would fight if he were in there. He should concentrate more on calling what is in front of him instead of talking like a trainer all the time.

I'm sick of Teddy. He always overreacts and screams to get his point across.

We get it, buddy...

He maybe annoying and not so entertaining but the guy knows what he is talking about. :yep

Yeah he keeps talking on how the fighter should fight pointing out weaknesses and these are a pointers, clues or hints to those trainers and fighters who are watching and to those who wants to learn.

So if you guys who are complaing will just try to listen . . . maybe you'll learn something too. :yep :D

I mean he is a lot better than other panelist who keeps pointing out how great a fighter is . . . while he is fucki'n being pummeled inside the ring at that very moment.

I like him as a person, but his commentary style gets on my nerves. He has about five points to choose from for a given fight, and whichever point he chooses for that fight, he gives it to you over, and over, and over. ...

"First he has to get inside and then BANG BANG"

I think the only way to shut him up is to have 2 fighters that are the same heighth and have the same reach.

Worst boxing commentator out there right now.

Go ahead, let him talk before a fight, even after.. but STFU during the fight.. just call the fight, instead of trying to play the "what if I was his trainer!" bullshit.

The only people who could possibly be Teddy fans are people with severe short term memory loss.. you know.. people who gotta hear something 81 times before not forgetting it.

I think Teddy Atlas is a very good commentator, but i can see the argument from people who dont like him such as

his brutal murders of mexican last names
annoying voice
loud personality

i personally like his commentating style except for the first fault i mentioned

His book is so full of shit. He has all these situations where he is right, other guy always wrong. Oh, and Shannon Briggs PLUS 3 of his friends from Bed-Stuy needed Atlas to protect them from a racist. And as a teen in jail, big guy came over to start something, and backed down to Atlas. And on and on. I was expecting to read 'Godzila had a FEAR of King Kong, so I had to step in and smack Kong around, to SHOW Godzilla that fear....."

Guy is a crackpot, but great self-promoter. He sucked as trainer.

Teddy never learned the less is more.

Oh for the days of Howard Cosell, when what a commentator said was relevant.

You cant deny Atlas takes shots at Tyson any and everytime he gets a chance.

-his shots are a little wide/fat/larger
-he has long arms and they are good on the outside but on the inside long arms are a disadvantage.(tell that to hearns ,lennox, louis im sure they would be really happy)
-what he wants to do is land the right hand(in the wilson-davies fight which darnell drops a left hook to lead to the ko.)

i've actualluy heard a new one that "he holds his chin to the right he should hold it on the right".... (prey tell what that means)

decent trainer passionate about boxing, knows the ins and outs of it and is a good talker but he just seems to talk over joe tessatore(who is the best commentator to date)

The less Teddy the better. I watch ESPN2 fight in spite of Teddy, just goes to show how desperate we are for actual boxing matches these days.

He knows boxing ,
he is a fucking old school genius...

You will learn a lot by listening to him talk.

Michael Moorer was heavyweight champion because of Teddys passion.

He became heavyweight champion because he outjabbed Holyfield when Holyfield was having an off-night, perhaps a case of "too-much-HGH-itis".

Moorer slept-walk thru the rounds after Atlas got in his face and yelled at him.

Moorer showed more passion before and after he was with Atlas.

Am I reading this correctly? Are you actually saying that Cosell was a better boxing commentator than Atlas!?

You're joking right? Right?

Rumor has it HBO has dumped Jim Lamprey, and we will get "The Eel"
every Friday nite in the future in lieu of Teddy.

:-)

My solution with Teddy is to watch the Pre-fight analyis..which is good, then mute the fight commentary until the Guest Host and / ESPN Fight Center comes on between rounds.

And yes, Teddy does score the fights pretty good, but his comments about
weak Commission States irks me a little, because some of my friends are Commissioners and/or referees and have done a good job in my opinion.

All fights don't just occur in Las Vegas or back East.

His pre-fight analysis is the best thing he does.
