That's the most amazing stat in Joe Calzaghe's career. To be in this cruel sport more than 17 years, since becoming an adult, and not to lose even one fight is incredible and I'm pretty sure it never happend before and maybe it never will happen again.
I agree his competition could have been much better but even to beat bums 17 years in a row without a loss is impressive, so Beating world champions and contenders is very very impressive.
In my opinion, basaed on this stat alone Calzaghe deserves to be in the hall of fame.

How can someone be in the hall of fame without having fought in the USA? Surely, that's what REALLY matters, not a boxer's performances/opposition/talent/anything?

It would have been much more impressive if he fought the top guys.

OMG i can't believe you said that. Americans are so biased! Every single one of them is an idiot!
Not one american can actually see things objectively! Especially not Kellerman, Steward, and Lampley who all acknowledged that Calzaghe was a great fighter.

Valuev the giant Heavyweight had what 44-45 straight victories before he lost, does he deserve to be in the hall of fame too? Theres alot of fighters that can fight nobodys for 15 years and not lose, it's who you fight and beat that counts.

There you have it: a straight admission from an American that they don't have a clue about boxing. Or anything, really.

WTF... So Virgil Hill fights almost all of his life in Bismark ND..
Svenn Ottke , never leaves Germany.. and are both embraced as great fighters... And you question Josephs route into anyones list of ATG's..

There's at least one recent fighter in the Hall who never fought in the US (Khaosai Galaxy)

I haven't lost a professional boxing match since I was eighteen. Does that make me a hall-of-famer?

Uhhm... excuse me Mr. Pharoh, but you know that was bull shit. Of course as with any country you get your share of idiots, but heres one single American that can see objectively that Joe Calzaghe is A+++ fighter and it would be a crime that should incite world wide rioting if Joe isn't inducted into the hall of fame.
Fucker.

Ottke is not going to anybody's HOF...Virgil Hill is, though he's still a titlist now at age 43 and unlike Ottke, fought the top guns in his respective division.

Which top guys were there to fight that he didn't. Hopkins(priced
himself out.) RJJ. Not in the same weight class when roy was in prime.
Look, your gripe w/ joe not fighting anyone doesn't hold water anymore.
So, give a rest wellya.

Amazing indeed. All the trainings he has to endure and all the fights, it takes a very durable body to do the task.
Ii hope Calzaghe finally fights Hopkins and beats him. That would really be good to his already good legacy.
did he fight bums and tomato cans as a pro? Yes. Did he fight in the Olympics as an amateur? No.
Somebody ban this hateful chump
