Apparently a good source tells me its in the offing should he come through against Earl - looks like Khan is going to be Britains youngest world champion. :patsch

****** takes the cheap WBU route yet again.

I just had a look at the WBU website at [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) - look at their list of 'world champions' .. its an absolute joke .... !!

Shouldn't the British Title come before a world title?! I can see why they want the WBU title. It means you can defend it against whoever you like.

LOL they are all ****** fighters. I dont think its a bad move though, fight this guy, then the winner of Thaxton vs Murray, then fight Romanov the euro champ, then an eliminator!

You've got to admire the WBU, they've done the impossible, somehow they are even less credible than the WBO.

Excellent news. He could then go on to unify the WBU, WBF, IBC, IBA, IBO titles and become the undisputed b grade world champion.

Wouldn't surpirse me at all , ****** can claim Khan is the 'best Lightweight in Britain' after beating Earl and thus can avoid Thaxton and challenge a very ordinary McCallister for a 'World title' .

If (and its a big if for me) Khan beats Earl I can see this fight happening. No disrespect to McCallister but he fits the bill of Khan's usual suspects - light hitter, low KO rate, etc.

To become the youngest world champion has always been a whim of Khan - more so than ****** so even I can't just blame him if this match up is made.

Would be a self indulgent move by the pair of them in my eyes. Not a credible one but the general public and casual fan may buy it. A lot may hinge on what ITV make of it - I'm convinced they are having a lot more say in Khan's opponents now.

If Khan beats Earl which he will then hes is the best lightweight in the country. McCalister would be a decent enough fight for him before Murray or Thaxton. McCalister has a decent record.

As highly as i rate Khan can you see him beating Diaz, Katsidis or Pacman if he moves up. They will be the belt holders for the next 2 years!

You are just giving credit to alphabet crap by suggesting that is one is better or worse than another. Be it the WBA, WBC, The Ring or the WBU they are all only intrested in one thing....££££££££££££££££

That shaggy beast, history, will dictate whether Amir Khan is Britain's youngest ever World Champion...

But be assured, a victory over McCallister probably is not going to cut it though.

The outcome of Khan v Earl is not a foregone conclusion as you suggest.

Even if Khan beats Earl you may proclaim him to be the best LW in Britain but to earn that right he will need to fight and beat whoever holds the British Title - currently Thaxton.

McAllister may have a decent record (W25-KO5) but it would be a step backwards from the Earl fight in my view.

There is no point in even discussing the likes of Diaz at this stage of Khan's career - he needs to prove himself domestically first.

But that is the thing: Ricky was not World Champion until he beat Tszyu; Naseem until he beat Vazquez....

nah, even the SN friendly ITV commentators mock the WBU title.

on the other hand, if he beats earl, he'll have to face his mandatory commonwealth challenger...i.e. thaxton. ****** may or may not allow khan to fight thaxton depending on how well he does against earl.

I would'nt write this lad off, he can box. He comes from a boxing family in Aberdeen and they are all good boxers (My son fought his brother Mathew a couple of years ago). His stoppage of Docherty suggests that he could hurt most opponents. I hope it comes off.

Its not a question of "if" Rooq, but "when" Khan beats Earl.

& to steal a phrase from Stuey, "Khan is going to beat the granny out of Earl"

& I will be cheering Khan all the way. I cant wait till he shuts Earls big mouth for him.

I do not give Earl a chance either, I don't dislike him as he and Khan were both 'upping their anti', but Khan has too much skill for him to cope.

I dont like Earl. Found a wee interview with him last week & he was slagging off willie Limond, saying, "Limond put Khan down & he couldnt punch his way through a wet paper bag, just wait till Khan feels my power blah blah... Disrespectful comment, from a guy who whinged when Ricky Burns schooled him also. I would take Limond to beat Earl right now, but I am happy for Khan to do the business instead, & show earl just how good Limond was to nearly beat him.

You know me AllyT, theres always a method to my madness:D Any fighter who disrespects a scottish fighter I want to see them lose. No ifs or buts.

And rightly so, I did not know he had had a go at Limond. I agree that Limond would burst his bag.

This McCallister fighter has 5 KO's from his 25 wins, the pattern of fighting fighters with a very very LOW KO % continues.

This tells us everything we need to know about Khan.

KR, it was obvious from the off that ****** was going to guide Khan to the WBU title sadly enough... Those big World title promises from ****** & Khan were always going to take Khan on the Ricky hatton route to success. ITV will lap up Khan & his WBU title if he wins it, Khan is going to be Ricky Hatton MKII when it comes to career guidance.

The most annoying thing will be when Khan is defending his WBU title & hordes of newbies appear here talking about Khan like hes achieved it all... Man, Im NOT looking forward to that! The place is jam packed full of newbie morons as it is just now hanging around in the hope of hogging some glory if Hatton beats Mayweather. I mean, the general forum is FULL of hatton fans I have never even heard of, all with under 200 posts... It will be funny to see them disappear.

Hardly surprising news. McAllister is, imo, shite. Well maybe not shite, but I'd certainly rate him below Willie Limond and by a fair bit at that.

I generally think Khan is really ambitious and as soon as he wins the WBU he will be onto bigger and better things. It isnt that bad to have on your resume. I can see Khan and ****** splitting in the next few years as Kahn will want to face guys like Diaz, Katsidis, Pacquiou (who will be at L/W soon) and ****** wont make the fights.

Khan to be signed to Goldenboy by december 2009!

I suppose he could move up to SLW and face Witter if he has grown muscles on his chin.

and Khan turns 21 on the night he fights Earl , meaning there should be no problems fighting Thaxton after that fight .
