Stfu for a moment about Cotto, Hatton, Valuev, Tarver, etc.

There does not seem to be any active discussion of this welterweight slugfest on Versus. Current round is six (of ten).

Wise up...tune in.

I have it 67-65 Jesus Soto-Karass, which is almost identical to the average online scorer, and a couple of points tighter than both commentators.

Buendia was down a minute into the 2nd and survived without a single clinch or backward step...kid's punch resistance is uncanny.

Jesus Soto-Karass chin is fucking great as well. Imagine hittin a guy all night and they show no effects. Buendia still isnt discouraged.

Respect to buendia, that is one tough motherfucker. Great fight, hopefully it inspires Rahman and Lawrence to fight at a similar pace.

Yup, hell of a fight!! All out action, and I don't think there was even one clinch the whole fight! Freddy-Wak told us to watch out for Soto-Karass, he was right for sure.

Here comes the main event fellas.

Sick punchstats...

Soto Karass, 523 connects out of 1288 punches thrown in 10 rounds. :scaredas:
Buendia, 331 out of 900.

97-92, 98-91x2 official score for Jesus Soto Karass :happy

I had heard the buzz before the Ojeda fight but unfortunately was unable to catch that one when it was on. Someone's got to have a vid.

Buendia??

MIS-MANAGED!!!

Guy has some talent for a shorter type fighter. He really looked like he needed to be at 140 and his Trainer Keith Jackson?? If they werent having a heart attack asking for the uppercuts?? They werent doing their job:nono

Buendia gave a valiant effort despite being out sized and powered.
Not as impressed with Karass as AMAZED at how mismanaged Buendia is:good

Karass?? Margarito, Cotto, Williams, Cintron....:rofl

PLEASE.. dont go there, for the sake of Karass's confidence, chin, and self respect:hey

Rees vs Buendia at 140?? THat sounds like a great fight, but its only a FANTASY away from being true:lol:

No shit. From a barn burner to a snoozer. Zuri is showing more stamina even after a short notice fight than lard ass.

Priceless.

Zuri is actually landing some good shots.....but no mustard on em.

Daammmnn! Nice finish by Rock. And although his best days are behind him and what not he was averaging over 80 punches per round (not bad at all for a fat ass heavy weight).

Shitty ones though. A good many of those weren't legitimate punches, like the 1288 that Jesus Soto Karass threw earlier.

Aparrently you're sniffing around so maybe you tell me??

Who said anything about not tough?? STFU:good

Buendia desreves credit as the smaller and mismanaged guy against the over sized opponent.

In terms of SKILLS?? Buendia's better!! Karass is just big and can endure agaisnt the NON - ELITE!!!

Go ahead take you're pick, either ONE is getting annihaltated vs the top 4 or 5 fighters at 47:yep

Please,,, whats up you're ass for even asking??

Calm down. It was a great fight. Nobody cares to hear you making excuses for one fighter or trying to downplay the other. Pretty much everybody agrees it was a great fight and is able to give respect to both fighters. You can't, that's your problem. Nobody really wants to hear about it.

No argument from me bro that the undercard was where it was at. Karass and Buendia put on a hell of a fight and I wish both future success.

Who appointed you guardian of "everyones hearing":huh

How's bout you wait and catch drops of sweat in you're mouth as they roll off my nuts:good

It was a great fight but regardless of who won?? They;rwe getting fucking killed by the top 5. My problem is a guy like Buendia could have spent this time better even though he gave a very solid account as the smaller opponenht.

you don't have to measure every fighter against the rest of their division after every single fight, especially in the case of still-developing prospects.

i just don't want this to deteriorate into yet another thread about the dynamics of a weight class and who at the elite level could beat which prospect or each other more decisively, blah blah blah. there's plenty of that crap.

why can't we just live in the present and say tonight, there was a good fight, those of us who saw it appreciated it, and that's that? does there have to be speculative analysis to go along with that?

Definitely.

This is why I'm dying to see Soto-Karass vs. Ojeda. I want to see how the guy finishes. I don't want to judge him just off the Buendia fight because I suspect there was some truth to what Wally Matthews said, in that Jesus has demonstrated highly capable boxing skills but seems to prefer to slug it out with guys like JuanMa Buendia. I think this was especially apparent as Soto-Karass waited a couple of rounds to feel the range of his opponent's power before adopting a more reckless and wide-open style for the middle rounds. There were flashes of versatility, but until I see a bit more I'll reserve judgment on just how effectively versatile he is.

I was pretty impressed with what he did, even if he was "fighting the other's guy's fight." He threw an impressive amount of punches, and showed a little pop, too.
