i missed the posts where you asked me why i believe aaa gets beat up by joan guzman. Well i thought i would try to explain.
reason 1. hand speed. guzman has incredibly quick hands and feet, amoungst the quickest i have seen, we all know the way to combt speed is with the jab, but aaa jab is simply not quick enough, hard enough, nor does he throw it often enough to combat the lightning quick attacks..
reason 2. combinations. guzman rarely throws single shots, he throws three four five shots, at pace with litte sgn of stamina issues, i believe these wouls simply overwhelm aaa who, for me tries to catch too many shots on arm or glove rather than moving to slip and avoid.
reason 3. confidence. this is probably where you will disagree most, but i dont think that aaa truly believes he is world class. guzmn most certainly does. i think once he starts to get tagged early doors, he is going to crumble mentally, get sloppy, and get stopped.
to summerise, i do not believe aaa is shit, far from it, by i do believe guzman simply has too much of everything for him...

I appreciate your getting back to me Stu, I really do:good All I see is people saying Guzman would pound Arthur into submission, but always without explaining themselves. Im glad you gave me some reasons, thats what proper debate is about.
But hey, in a surprise twist I am going to wait until the Soto fight is over before I continue the argument, I want to watch the cunt one more time. Guzman fascinates me, cos I hate him so much. So I cant get enough of analysing him. Or am I holding off in the hope that Guzman loses so that I can come in the smug guy? Nah. Im not that petty;) Aye right!:D
Seriously though, I want to watch him one more time. This is arguably his toughest fight as Barrios was a weight drained de-motivated mess. & Guzman still couldnt hurt him. Oh man, I want to talk, but Im holding my fire for now.
You Guzman lovers made me wait until now, so now its my turn:smoke I will get back soon:D

I think Guzman is overated. Not sure if AA would really live with him due to styles, but Guzman is not IMO the shit hot fighter everyone else seems to think he is.

This was a pretty easy win for guzman i think he is to slick for aa, if aa had more power he would have more of a shot but he isn't outboxing guzman.

Come on Strike, You know as well as I do Guzman is a hypejob, but cos your pal Stuey picks guzman you suddenly change your mind & pick him to beat Arthur?
Come on fella. I know its hard to pick a jock to win, but even you know deep down Arthur would hammer that feather fisted fuckhead. Dont let Stuey sway you.
Guzman is a feather fisted joke, & Arthur will stop him inside the distance. Its as simple as that! In fct, if Foster jnr beats Arthur I would pick him to beat that featherfisted bighead. Little Tyson:lol:

Guzmans speed would win the first 3 rounds, but after that Arthur would give him a sick beating. Honestly Hotti, Guzman is a joke.

I just watched the soto fight mate and he easily outboxed him, i thought he looked good he knows how to box and slip and parry punch's. How would arthur give him a sick beating he isn't exactly julian jackson in the power department.

Nothing to do with Stuey I gave Harrison the edge remember, because he would constantly be on Guzmans toes and would close down the gap with a solid jab and one two combos down the pipe.
Once in close he would be stronger than Guzman and the sheer volume of shots and aggression would have won it IMO.
But Arthur does not fight like that, he likes to counter a bit and box more from range. Even when attacking he is someone who likes to throw from mid range and stand off a little to look for gaps. Guzman is fast and throws quick bunches of shots, plus Arthur is not exactly slippery even though his defence has improved.
It would be interesting to watch and I would be supporting Arthur.
That said I think I need to see some more recent Guzman fights because guys like Amsterdam whos opinions I respect and usually agree with are raving about Guzmans skills and reports seem to suggest he is now a very very polished defensive fighter and slickster.
That is not something I ever saw when I watched his fights, I saw someone who was fast and threw nice combos but was open and not too hard to hit, plus someone who did not carry his power up at all.

Guzman beats any British fighter in history around his weight.
He has been by 2nd favorite fighter for some time and I am always right about everything. The better the opponent the more impressive the performance from him would be. He'll toy with all opponents ina similar way no matter how good they feasibly might be.

aye, I do remember.
Funny thing is though, my pal downloaded the fight but he cant get it onto disk yet, & he showed me the first round on his desktop. Usual Guzman, arrogant as fuck but he got hit plenty.
For the life of me I cant understand why Guzman gets the elite treatment.

Must admit Dunky im with you on this 1 i cant see what the fuss is about with Guzman yeah hes a good fighter but not an 'elite' fighter. I think AAA on a good night win by late stoppage but lets hope guzman doesnt decide to duck another scottish challenge and let us all findout!

OK. Apologies for the long wait, I only managed to see the fight last night. It was the defunct SKY version though, with shit commentary.
OK heres my take on Guzman. Same old, same old. I have finally realised what Guzman is.
Hes a faster version of Chris Eubank, but without Eubanks dig. i.e. Guzman has a great chin like Eubank, he counterpunches like Eubank. He takes full minute breathers like Eubank whilst openly running from his opponent until he gets his breath back. He poses whilst taking breathers to sway the judges. & of course, hes a WBO champion like Eubank was.
Guzman is good, but hes NOT elite. In his last fight, he was getting caught time & time again, to the head, to the body again & again. His defence is awful & he relies on his iron chin to get him off with his defencive deficiencies. again, like Eubank.
& again, like Eubank, Guzman tires when you go to his body. Fuck, I have went on about Guzman so much I cant be arsed typing anymore about him. Basically, Arthur will stop him with a body attack. In fact, Im sure Arthur will break the guy in half. THATS how confident I am.
Guzman is crap, & thats how Pac told him to fuck off.
Oh, & the scores were a joke too. But as Guzman is under the wing of GB, the result was a foregone conclusion as long as the arrogant bugger lasted the distance.

He was a different animal at bantam, now he's a poor mans mayweather... hopefuly he'll fight Diaz next, then we'll see how good he is.
I watched the Guzman fight on replay in the pub last week. He looks a good fighter, but certainly gets hit a fair bit.
Really Arthur has to be forcing his way into fighting people like Guzman...it is the only way to make the step up. If he doesn't get the fight after beating Foster (which he should surely do), then he's got real issues with ****** to deal with.

Dunk why don't you rate Guzman yet you rate Pacqiauo?
Pac Is badly overrated and took two attempts to beat a past his prime Morales and picked his fighters at the right time.
He's open to timing and counter punching. Marquez did that after the 3 knockdowns and won at least 9 or 10 of those rounds after the 1st.

IMO Max, it was Pac who ruined Morales. Remember back to their first meeting? Morales put on an excellent display outboxing Pac & then made the big mistake of showing his machismo in the last round & going toe-to-toe with pac. Mannny clubbed him, Morales was shaken to his boots & was lucky to survive the round.
I think that was the round that ruined Morales. He was never the same after that 12th round. manny Pacs power was so sensational back then, he had the punch to end careers.
As for Guzman? His record compred to Pacs is nothing, & remember pac is the younger man also. look at pacs record. wins & draws against the calibre of fighter Guzman has never faced in his career so far. And remember, Guzman is no spring chicken either, so if hes going to be superfighting, he better get his arse into gear!
Funny thing is though, I now think Pac is on the slide. not because of anything he has had to endure inside the ring, but because of his lifestyle outside of it. His last two displays have been awful by his standards, & his amazing power too seems to have deserted him. If it wasnt for a nasty clash of heads against Solis which concussed the mexican(IMO) & changed the fight, I think Pac would have lost that night.
So whoever gets Pac next, it wouldnt surprise me if they got a shock win, so take from that what you will!
