Which fighters step up the most late in fights?
Joe C- Tremendous stamina and workrate. Even more impressive is his ability to maintain his technical form and skills late in fights. When the fight with kessler was close he just shifted into another gear, even though Kessler stepped his game up too. While well ahead against Lacy, he poured it in instead of playing it safe. What a great fighter!
Honorable mention: Pac and Cotto are also great late due to their incredible stamina and workrates. They both get stronger as the rounds pass relying less on their technical skills.
Jameel Mccline is another late round phenom :yep

I think Floyd should be on this list. Say what you want about him but his workouts are legendary. He maintains stamina the entire fight and is actually pretty smart about making adjustments as he goes. You may say he has stamina because he dances around a lot, but I guess that takes some ability too. I'm not a Floyd fanboy, this was just the first name I thought of when I saw this thread.

Pavlik has smoked a lot of dudes in or after round 7. Between rounds 6-8 is the average for his 29 ko's.

I wonder if PBF gets left off these lists on purpose because of his style? If you are going to beat Mayweather, you will have to fight all 12 rounds...he doesn't get tired and the longer the fight, the more he figures you out, so you have to adjust your gameplan.
B-Hop baby.
very true.
after fighting at nearly 7 punches landed a round through 6 he then steps on the gas and goes all the way up to 12 punches a round 18 shoulders and 21 forhead`s.
very few fighters can maintain that level of headbuts over 12 rounds.

Good topic, good guys mentioned. Calz. Mayweather, Cotto, those guys are great for 12. Pavlik probably is but it's too early with him.
How bout of the Heavyweights? Who's best after 6 in HW?
IMO valuev has the best stamina of the big men.
he can consistently fight at a high tempo over 12 rounds.

imo mayweather is much steadier fighter. he is consistent all 12 rounds. i really dont notice a huge pickup later in the fight but he is such a skilled fighter he really doesn't have to let it loose late. he is pretty economical with his punch output but he is one of the smartest fighters out there.
hopkins is a phenom but a little too dirty and economical for my tastes

i think valuev is one of the most overrated hws out there behind scam cheater and lyakhovich. i thought his output was pretty average in his last 2 fights against ruiz and the white tyson :patsch
he paws most of his punches and can only throw the straight right hand with any power.
imo, wlad has the best stamina of the hws. he threw 500 punches against peter boxing and moving for 12 rounds. he averaged 70 punches/round against brewster in the rematch and wanst tired at all. povetkin is way up there too in terms of stamina.

Well thats the whole point isn't it? Mayweather is one of the best fighters in the world 1-6....he is just as good in rounds 7-12. So it stands that he would be one of the best after the 6th round as well. If the question had been "What fighter turns up the heat the most after the 6th" I wouldn't include PBF. But one of PBF's strengths is the fact that he doesn't make mistakes the whole fight, picks you apart and beats you, for all 12 rounds.
Paul Williams keeps a fast pace throughout.

povetkin is not proven yet.
the first 5 rounds or so against byrd was fought at a canter , but he did step it up a gear late, albeit to me he does not have a 5th gear but chugs along in 2nd and 3rd.

Has to be JC and Pac tied at first place.
For a big guy, JC's workrate is very impressive. However his punches aren't powerpunches. Pac on the other hand throws mostly power punches.

Well 3 have, out of 31 so......
But he is known to get off a little slow sometimes (Zertuche) but by round 6 he's tearin into that ass and like you said by 9 it's 92% of the time already over.
