Excuses then rematch.

Would Khan be finished in the eyes of the media, even though it would not be a disaster if he lost to Earl at this stage of his career? Or would it be a disaster, even if you looked at Khan objectively...?

Nah, too much too soon etc, Benn-Watson blah blah. They'd close the wagons, I actually like Amir as well but see it this way. Excuses would be made, he would not do a Benn and go to the USA but rather would take on smaller guys who cannot hit and pick up the WBU belt.

People would forget the Earl bout but any dangerous fighters would be negotiated out of a bout then besmirched in the popular press.

Still...sounds to me like it would be GAME OVER for Amir Khan...he would be just another celebrity who happens to box rather than a boxer who happens to be famous.

...BUT, if he makes it, if he beats an Earl that is not too faded, will people give him the credit he deserves?

What has actually brought on this Earl faded theory. If Khan did lose it wouldn't be game over... look at David Haye.

He did well against Katsidis, but do you think he is still there, mentally? Do you think he is as motivated as he used to be? Is he not on the slide?

I like your Haye analogy...except that no one thought Haye would be p4p when he started out, did they? Khan wants to be the best and thinks he is good enough.

He seems motivated at the press conference and he seems a very proud man i'd be suprised if he bails against Khan... If he's at his best I think he can beat Khan I think he could be a little too solid and experienced. I thought he might have been on the slide after the Burns loss but of course redeemed himself with the Romanov master class. Earls a funny character- who else could struggle with Jon Honney and then completely dominate and outpunch Steve Murray. Khan-Earl for me is fascinating. Khans last performance was excellent and he looked to have improved from the Limmond fiasco. Should be entertaining and I would think any form of stoppage for Khan would be pretty sensational.... i'm 50-50 between an Earl upset and a khan w12.

Thanks for that...I feel that if Earl is as good as he has ever been he should have a very good chance against Khan...I don't think Khan's last fight tells us anything because his opponent did not provide any challenge at all. In my view, if Earl is not faded, or not considerably faded, Khan will have improved a hell of a lot and would deserve much credit, if he could beat him.

i think he already is a celebrity first and boxer second. not the required attitude to succeed, although i still think he'll get through this fight.

it would be rediculous no 1 can take such a career ending beating and still have some thing left
