What do you think each will bring to the table?
What do you expect their strategy to be?
How could each win?
How do you think this fight will play out?
Will Khan's chin hold out? Does Earl have enough in the tank to cause an upset? Or won't it matter anyway because Khan is too good?
:good
Apologies to those who have already contributed to the previous thread. :)

I'm going with Earl, although it's a hunch more than a conviction.
If Earl can catch Khan with some of the counters he threw at Katsidis, it'll be VERY interesting to see how Khan can take it.

khan by systematical beat down. too young, too fresh, too big, way too fast...
earl gets fucked up

katsidis and earl were toe-to-toe all the way through. i very much doubt earl-khan will be the same kind of fight. earl will be the one getting countered all night and i can see the fight getting stopped by the ref.
it'll be an interesting one though just to see if khan has made any progress since limond.

I was once very impressed with Earl - thought he had real potential; but hasn't really set the world on fire.
Think that Khan will take him to pieces inside 6 rounds.
As Stuey puts it; khan is too young, too fresh, too big, & way too fast.

I see it going a similar way as katsidis not actual fight styles as khan deffo wont go toe to toe or he shouldnt anyway with his speed but we have seen him get too aggressive and lose focus and get caught. But i reckon hell dominate mostly but earl wont go quietly as he showed in the katsidis fight which was one of the best fights id seen in a while.:thumbsup

Graham Earl is a shot fighter, who has been passed his best now for over a year.
If Khan performs to the level of his last fight, with the improvements which he implemented then this should be an easy fight for him. He needs to use his mobilty and speed to confuse Earl.
I think Earl will never get into the fight and never even trouble Khan.
I think Khan will deliver a one side beat down, stopping Earl on his stool at the beginning of the 9th round.

Earls corner may throw the towel in also. No way a ref throws it out a la Katsidis fight against Khan.

My head says Khan clear winner and maybe even stoppage depending on ref but I will be hoping on a Earl win.
I think I have it closer than most people but for different reasons such as I rate Earl and think he will have alot left.

earl cant punch.....so he should be able to handle him.
but what is the point?? if khan wants to prove something he has to step up and meet someone with a little steam behind his gloves.

Just another can for the record isn't it really?
Longer term I do have major doubts over Khan's chin though, hopefully that is just a weight issue.

I think it's a good fight for Amir. Earl will look like the poor relation in styles as per the Romanov fight - but has the necessaries to get through and test Amir.
I see Khan winning a UD.

earl is an established british top 2 lightweight. wouldn't really call him just another can. if he you really think he should be skipping this level of competition and going straight for world class opp you must be a :nut

Earl is no can, which makes this fight a very good choice and a good test for Khan. It is still very early days in his career, and I think he was absolutely excellent in his last win. Lets watch this space.

Perhaps I am being a bit harsh on Earl, and no I don't think Amir should be skipping these fights. On the other hand Amir is a bit special and should win this easily, which will make Earl look like a can whether he is or not. Earl is a solid fighter but coming off a loss its going to be a tough night for him.
Its rare to watch the early fights and developement of a fighter like Amir on TV these days and a lot of people are a bit impatient. I'm not. He should work up to world level in the time that is right for his body and skill not the TV schedulers.
I don't really expect Amir to be seriously tested till he's fighting someone like a European champion or genuine world top 20 level fighter. At that point we'll begin to see if he is the real deal or just another nearly man. Till then I expect his opponents to get the can treatment. At world level though I've seen enough to be a bit concerned about Amir's chin, but I'm quite sure his defense will improve with every fight.

I wanna see him work his way up and stay there not be catapulted and then come crashing down to earth again

Personally, I will give Khan a lot of credit if he doesn't get KD'ed and if he wins this one...if he stops Earl, all the more so. We know Khan has heart but if Earl puts him down, I don't think he will let him slip as eaily as Willie did...I am very much looking forward to this fight, banking on my hope that Earl is true to hi word, that he IS hungry for this and has trained hard...

I fancy Earl in this one... i'm a big Khan fan but Earl just is such a solid operator when motivated. Khan can't stand and trade with him because Earl hits hard enough to put Khan out of their IMO.... So Khan has to box and move and go back to his amateur roots.... Now when you train in the same gym as Jamie Moore and Oliver Harrisons main training ethic is concentraining on keeping those hands high and intelligent infighting you have to wonder what Khans game plan is going to be?
I think Earl is too experienced and not quite as shot as people think. If Khan wins i'm a believer again.

If Earl gets a crack on Khan's chin then who knows what may happen. But if Ricky Burns can beat Earl then so can Khan. Speed will be the factor thats why i think Khan will win. The only way Earl can beat Khan is if they brawl, but i can't see that happening.

My official prediction is a Khan stoppage victory.
The stoppage victory will occur between the 5th and the 8th rounds.
The nature of the stoppage will be the referee will wave the fight off, after a series of unanswered punches while Earl is laying on the ropes. Earl does not look hurt though when it is stopped.
Lets see if I get this one bang on.

My mind knew it would be a disappointing fight entertainment-wise but I hoped for an exciting fight in my heart. :-(
Altho I was hoping for a Khan win i wanted to see him tested a little. I thought 'on paper', as they say, this would have been Khan's toughest fight domestically but I think Earl's current state meant that went out of the window. Hope the guy retires now.
I must admit I was one of those who thought Earl would be more of a test than Thaxton and I still maintain that Thaxton was behind Earl before tonight in terms of really testing Khan. But i guess he'd probly do better against Khan than Earl did tonight.
I hope Khan now goes over to the US to train and really build his skills with better training and sparring. I'm not suggesting he completely skips the UK fighters but I really don't see anyone really challenging him here.

I think my can theory has been vindicated.
If Amir is going to be world class, and i think he will, decent but limited fighters like Earl are going to be dominated.
The one thing that struck me anout the fight was the fighter's aparent size. Khan looked to be a fighter from a couple of divisions above.
Claypole
12-09-2007, 10:33 AM
I hate to say it, bur Earl was about as shot as a fighter can be. He used to have a rock solid chin, and Khan is not a big puncher, yet he fell apart so dramatically it was a joke.
He barely threw a punch himself, and when he did it was in slow motion, no pop whatsoever. His didn't even make any attempt to defend himself properly.
Perhaps I would give Khan some credit if Earl at least looked a bit like the fighter he once was, but to be honest this was just a very shrewd business move on the part of Frank ******.
The biggest laugh of all though is the way ITV are harping on how fantastic this win was. The website even reports that Earl was No.1 in Britain, and how the fight was competitive up until the end.
Are we really to believe that Khan is improving at such a fast rate? I ain't buying it.
