According to Povetkin's German promoter Sauerland Povetkin's next fight will probably take place in the USA.
According to the news Taras Bidenko could have been Chagaev's first title challenger. However, surprisingly Chagaev's and Sultan's camp have agreed on a date for a title unification.
Akinwande stated in an interview with German tv that he will concentrate on his upcomming title shot at the european title holder instead of Platov.
A rematch between Platov and Akinwande doesnt seem to come off.
Vladimir Virchis vs Henry Akinwande.Hm!
The African has to take some extra lesson from the best wrestlers in order to avoid Virchis' murderous punches.Guess that Virchis vs Akinwande will be a truly ugly fight and no fun to watch.
Spotlight/Universum has signed up two undefeated Argie fighters.
According to the news Povetkin 's promoter has been contracted by the New York City Hall as the main dancer as he showed much talent when he stormed the ring after Povetkin had won his encounter with Donald showing a wild and joyful dance. He peformed well in the ring.Even Donald and Povetkin seemed to be impressed by that unorthodox performance.
American promoter Don King has signed two German based talents:Russian talent Zapir Gereev(WBC world champ juniours),and German talent Rene Mahling.
Both Mahling(9-0),and Gereev(13-0) are 20 years old.

Wow, althought Akinwande is faded, I would still pick him to beat Virchis!
Undefeated Georgian brothers Shalva(20 years) and Levan Jomardashvili(18 years have been signed by a German/Danish box promotion.). Shelva Jomadrashvili present pro record is 23-0-his amateur recorcd 75-3.Levan Jomardashvil pro record is 16-0-his amateur record is 57-2 ................according to the news.
That German/Danish box promotion has also acquired exclusive agent rights to more than thirty Georgian boxers.
The most interesting piece on news is that olympic medalist Chanturia is among those 30 fighters.
Will Georgian heavy weight Chanturia soon turn pro?
Will Georgian heavy weight Chanturia soon turn pro?
:huh Chanturia is already fighting as a pro for more than a year.
:huh Chanturia is already fighting as a pro for more than a year.
You are right, nbt! What a surprise to me! I havent read or heard anything about him ! Absolutely nothing! Really amazing! Neither english nor russian speaking news have ever mentioned his name in connection with the pro business.
Thanks for the info,nbt!
Guess that means that Chanturia will probably soon fight for that Danish/German box promotion somewhere in the western parts of europe.
I am flabbergusted! Have read so much about that limited American heavy who represented the colours of the USA at the last olympic tournament, but nothing at all about Chanturia!

Glad to hear it! They already beat everbody in Georgia while they were in their teens. Georgian boxing seems like boxing in the Wild West in 1900. Two boxers fight on Saturday and have a rematch on Friday. Crazy!
Curious to see how they do against better comp. Especially Levan, he'll probably move to Cruiser soon.
Solis' American coach has been replaced with Werner Kirsch,a very experienced German coach who is known for his authoritative style in the gym.
Kirsch used to train the likes of Stieglitz,Dzemski,Konecny,Malik Dziarra, and so on.
Good news indeed! Solis needs such a coach as he seems to be quite fond of junk food.

Another news from Arena Box Promotion that ,Sinan Samil Sam will fight again until the end oh the year.
Vitaly vs McCline doesnt seem to be a done deal!
When asked by German tv who will be his opponent for the septembre date Vitaly replied that there are still negotiations with several fighters, but his foe will probably be a "world famous boxer" who is very known in Germany.
Made me a think a bit! McCline is surely no "world famous fighter" nor a very known boxer in Germany.
Russian cruiser Grigory Drozd(26-1) who surprisingly lost his last fight to Firat Arslan due to his poor stamina and the wrong tactic will be back on july the 28th on the undercard of Germany's female star Relina Halmischer.
He will face durable African journeyman Jean Claude Bikoi(14-5) who has already gone the full route with some known names like Ismael Abdoul,Vicenzo Cantatore,or Yoan Hernandez.
Russian heavy weight Vladimir Tereshkin will give his pro debut on the undercard of Luan Krasniqui vs Tony Thompson, july the 14th.

According to boxrec Argentinian top middle weight Mariano Carrera is scheduled to fight a journeyman on the undercard of Drozd vs Bikoi/Halmich vs Rodriguez, july the 28th.
Amazing news! Carrera will appear on a fight card of German promoter Kohl!
Very interesting! Does that mean that we have the chance to see him fight Sturm after he has defeated his next mandatory Griffin?
I would love to watch that fight!
Carrera is fun to watch, and he for sure could give hell to Sturm.Could go either way IMO.
Anyway! In order to gain respect Sturm has to fight these kind of opponents instead of fighters like his last opponent Alcola!
Goran Gogic will probably be Samil Sam's next opponent.
Dangerous fight for the Turk.Gogic is head and shoulders above Sam in terms of skills. The Serbian's weak spot used to be his weak stamina and his lack of mental toughness as well as his lack of firepower.
Very dangerous fight for Samil Sam:high risk, little reward.According to the news this fight may take place in Istambul alias Constantinoples, the old centre of the holy orthodox religion.

As for Gogic he is a very capable fighter, but lacks the mental toughness, and at times the stamina,to compete with good european heavies. He also doesnt seem to be able to cope with relentless pressure.
I wouldnt bet my money on him against Samil Sam.He for sure would be the underdog against the Turk.
However,Bugaj almost knocked out Sam,and Sam didnt look good against the likes of Montana,Arias, and so on.
Gogic is a better version of Arias, and Sam can be outpointed.
By the way have you ever seen him fight in a ring? Which fight?
Another mayor German promoter,Steinforth, has signed a Russian heavy weight.
Jevgeny Orlov is a former K1-fighter.The huge fellow(2,10m-270 pounds) impressed Steinfort while sparring with Ruslan Chagaev.
Julius Long and Larry Donald are Vitaly's Klitschko sparring partners for his upcomming bout with Jameel McCline.
Huge Ukranian banger Vladimir Virchis(23-1) may face American Robert Hawkins (22-9) on the undercard of Alexander Dimitrenko vs Timo Hoffman.
One of Belarus' best pro fighter, light weight Sergej Gulyakevich(23-1),will soon clash with Spanish based Armenian warrior Leva Kirokasyan(26-4) trying to take the title from the reigning european champ at super featherweight.

I think this guy is in his late 20's and has lost a couple of
times against so-so opposition, despite his size . Not sure tho.

That'll be a cracking fight , Kirakosyan destroyed Carl Johanneson twice and Gulyakevich looked a very good fighter while losing to Arthur(and I had heard a lot of promising things about him before that) .
I'd edge with Gulyakevich in that one , but Kirakosyan can punch very hard and is dangerous for anyone .

Kostya,I guess that Orlov was signed up by SES because of his huge size.

There is strong rumour that Taras Bidenko will be Ruslan Chagaev's next opponent.
Word is out that Bidenko will get a shot at Chagaev's title.
Chagaev was watching Bidenko's last victory over George Arias quite attentively when he flew back to Germany in order to attend the fight show with Bidenko.

I guess it doesnt really matter whether Sinan Samil Sam and Selcuck Aydin face a living body or not their fans will go beserk anyway as soon as they see their idols fight in front of the very own eyes.
A very important fight show for the Turkish fans, but a totally insignificant one for all us fight fans outside Turkey.
Cuban heavy weight hope Odlanier Solis is scheduled to appear in Italy at the end of februay facing decent Croatian journeyman Ivica Perkovic.
Perkovic lost his fight to Sinan Samil Sam,but could hold his own and offered stiff resistance to the known Turkish heavy.

Former cruiser weight title challenger Valery Brudov is scheduled to appear on a fight card in France,February the 21st in Paris.
Promising Polish cruiser weight hope Lukas Janik will showcase his skills on the undercard of Valuev vs Lyakhovich.
Highly ranked Russian cruiser weight Grigory Drozd will face Michael Simms on a fight card in Russia at the end of February.
A couple of days ago Spanish based heavy handed Romanian light heavy Alejandro Lakatus stopped an unknown Spaniard in round 4 of their encounter.
Lakatus is probably over the hill and surely past his prime.Nevertheless his firepower is a danger to any opponent.
Just three days ago talened Czech heavy weight Ondrej Pala stopped late sub Arthur Cook from the British isles in round 8 of their fight in the Arab Emirates.Though the young Czech fighters has won 16 out of 19 victories by way of knockout he isnt known to be the most feared puncher out there. Both his loss to German heavy weight talent Rene Dettweiler and his loss to one of the most promising young heavies on this planet,Denis Boytsov, were a bit controversial.
Most ring observers had Pala ahead on points against Dettweiler who won a close point decision on his home turf.I didnt watch their entire fight so that I cant really comment on it,but as far as I could judge from the short replay of their encounter on German tv Dettweiler vs Pala seemed to be a very close fight.
Pala was also able to hold his own against touted Russian talent Boytsov who was slightly ahead on points at the time the ref stopped their fight due to an injury Pala had suffered during the fight.
Boytsov's coach Sdunek stated after the fight that Pala would have a good future ahead of him.I very much hope that Boytsov will rematch Pala one day. They two still have unfinished business with each other.
Pala is now 19-2.

Pala is a young fighter with no western promoter fighting whoever is put in front of him.He is no big puncher, unitas. And neither is he the next undisputed heavy weight champ. However,he has the tools to go far IMO.
As for Dettweiler vs Pala as I said most ring observers had Pala ahead on points. But as you may know the fight took place in Germany,on a Sauerland card.It was Pala's 10th pro fight.Dettweiler had already shared 16 times the ring with an opponent in the paid ranks.Dont be too harsh on the young Czech! Just read that WBC Pres. Sulaiman has ordered Vitali Vs. Peter fight, this has not been totally confirmed, but...........
Silence from US Boxing media as usual.....................they hate Euro fighters.
Marco Huck will face an African opponent on the undercard of Sylvester vs Castillejo.Jaffa Ballogou(45-6) will be in the opposite corner of Huck's first outing to the ring after he was schooled by slick mover Steve Cunningham.
Wlad vs Thompson will take place in Germany, and so will probably Sam Peter vs Vitaly Klitschko.
Vitaly: " I know that Peter wants our encounter to be staged in his native Nigeria, but I am not happy about it. We will do whatever we can do in order to stage this fight in Germany, but it is difficult to negotiate with Sam's promoter Don King.Anyway! Our encounter will take place either in July or shortly after the olympic games"
Since the big money is in Germany chances are good that Vitaly vs Peter will take place in Germany.

Santos went the full route with Zbik in one of his previous fights. He is a decent journeyman, and a good opponent for Ghevor at this stage of the Armenian's career.I still hope that Ghevor vs Carrera will come off.
According to the news Vladimir Sidonrenko will defend his belt against Anselmo Moreno from Panama on the undercard of Chagaev vs tba at the end of may.
German fringe euro contender, Alexander Sipos and Spaniard Ruben Diaz will fight for the IBF Inter-Continental belt next weekend in Pamplona, Spain.
Sipos has a great chin which he demonstrated by going the distance in his losses, especially against Asikainen. But he is too slow and unpolished to cause any havoc within the european top ranks. Diaz is a promising prospect, having proven himself in his draw with Kofi Jantuah. Now Arena is sending Sipos against him, and it should´t get any better for them. Sipos will surely fight the distance though.
And WBA Inter-Continental title is at stake in Gevor - Barbosa.
Undefeated Ukranian welter Viktar Plotnikov will travel to Belgian to take on Belgian based African Jackson Onosei in his Belgian backyard on may the 3rd.
Behemoth Alexander Ustinov will face his first tough challenge at the pros squaring off against experienced American vet Sedrick Fields on the undercard of Nushnenko vs Garcia in Ukraine's capital Kiev on april the 19th.
Russian middle weight talent Pirog (11-0,10kos) scored a devastating ko victory in round 4 over very capable and dangerous Aslanbek Kodzoev.
Kodzoev is a top 25 fighter.Very impressive victory for the rising middle weight star from Russia.
Kazahk Beibut Schumenov (4-0,4kos) just needed two round to punch American Donell Wiggins(24-10) into submission. Schumenov is scheduled to take on Lovell Finger (26-2) in his 5th pro fight.
Fastly rising German based Enad Licina is scheduled to face Alexander Gourov in his next fight.
Licina has made some noise over the last couple of months by beating the very decent Lubos Suda(who once beat the present cruiser weight title holder Firat Arslan), teak tough Brit Robert Norton, and capable American heavy weight subgatekeeper Releford.
Licina has been toughly matched since he signed a contract with German promoter Sauerland.

Undefeated Russian heavy weight Alexej Soloviev(14-0) will fight African journeyman Raymond Ochieng(12-6) in Russia on may the 10th.
After a lenghty absence from the ring due to an illness very capable Ukranian supermiddle Vitaly Tsypko(21-2) will return to the ring on the undercard of Frenkel vs Phelps on the may the 17th. His opponent will be Martin Piatkowski(17-11) from Poland.
Former amateur star Ali Ismailov(12-1) is scheduled to showcase his skills against Pedro Otas(17-0) on a fight show in Russia, may the 22nd.
Ismailov is a hard hitting roughouse from Azerbaijan. He suffered his first and only loss in the paid ranks against cruiser weight top gun Vadim Tokarev in his 5th pro fight. Ismailov could have been a mighty force a few years ago,but he is now in a very tough race against time as he will soon celebrate his 35th birthday.
Vitaly Tsypko ' first outing to a ring after his long absence from the ring due to an injury was successful and convincing: he stopped his Polish foe Marcin Piatkowski(19-12) in round 3 of their encounter.

Neither of those journeymen will in any way prepare Povetkin for
Wlad. Terrible matchmaking by A.P's promotional team. They
strike me as money-grubbers with no concern for the young
fighters health or long-term career. Shades of Mancini, Arguello.
Ray was never the same after that beatdown even though he
did become champ for awhile.

Audley Harrison is kind of a poor man's Wladimir Klitschko, so he would be a good warm-up opponent for Povetkin. The word today was that he may or may not be fighting Sam Peter.
Dimitrenko would also be a good choice.

Now you mentioned it, Audley Harrison would indeed be very good as preparation for Povetkin. Plus we would have a fight between the last two olympic gold medal winners at super HW, one that proved unable to fulfill the expectations that were put in him as a pro (Harrison), and one for whom there is still hope (Povetkin).

I'd rather have AP fighting WK at the end of next year so that he can have some decent preparation fights. It looks like they are rushing him indeed, but I doubt that they are doing that for a quick payday because the main source of income from Kalle jr comes from football rather than boxing. Here is a link to his company:

I ve just read on a russian website that Povetkin 's next opponent will be Golota. Must be rumour as nothing has been officiallly confirmed or announced so far.
Corrie Sanders will be Wlad's sparring partner. According to Wlad Sanders has agreed to help him for his upcomming bout with Thompson.
Wlad has also stated that Thompson told him that he had already fought each other before.Thompson was one of his sparring partners for his fight against aforementioned Corrie Sanders.
:DDidnt help a lot,eh'! Sanders totally destroyed Wlad in 3 rounds.Funny that Wlad couldnt even remember anymore that Thompson had been his sparring partner a couple of years ago.
A very interesting fight will take place on july the 5th in the beautiful Ukranian city of Odessa.
Ukranian based Geogian Atvandil Khurtsidze(15-1) will clash with Argentinian vet Javiar Mamami(34-6). Mamami is a tough customer who has already gone the full route with Alcine and some other decent fighters.
Undefeated Ukranian cruiser Vitaly Rusal(20-0) will headline the show squaring off against Hungarian Josef Nagy(18-2).
Another Cuban fighters seems to have found a new home in Germany.Damian Norris(17-5) will probably fight out of Germany. Norris will compete at cruiser weight. He has lost against Chris Arreala,Malik Scott, and Fres Oquendo at heavy weight, but according to the news he showed a great performance against undefeated German based Ukranian Alex Mogylewski in his last outing to a ring in Germany.
According to the news Kessler's promoter Palle isnt very keen on watching his boy Kessler defend his title against the feather fisted German Haussler.Palle prefers Mads Larsen taking on Kessler in Germany to Haussler vs Kessler. Both Haussler and Larsen have a contract with German promoter Sauerland.
Kessler doesnt seem to be a big draw in his native Denmark. The arena wasnt sold out against Sartison, and Kessler for sure cant earn really big bucks fighting out of his native tiny Denmark.
It would surely be a good move to stage some fights in neighbouring Germany where pro boxing is big and big bucks can be earned.Kessler has the style and the charisma to be a big name in Germany.Besides Danes and Germans almost speak the same language and seem to be as close as Poles and Czechs.
EBU Middleweight title should be vacant soon, which means Amin Asikainen vs. Khoren Gevor is in the works. Either by P3 Boxing in Finland or Universum Box-Promotion in Germany.
EBU Middleweight title should be vacant soon, which means Amin Asikainen vs. Khoren Gevor is in the works. Either by P3 Boxing in Finland or Universum Box-Promotion in Germany.
Asikainen vs Gevor,eh! Interesting fight! Amin's chin isnt the best out there, but Gevor isnt known to be a big banger. On the other side the Finn has pop in his fists, but the Armenian can take a good punch.
Difficult to predict an outcome, isnt it! Gevor is the more active fighter so that he could probably win a point decision.I also think that the Armenian warrior is the mentally tougher fighter of this pair.
I agree that on paper, this match-up is very much 50/50. But I also think that Asikainen has demonstrated in his Sylvester fights and last Campas fight, that he has something vital that Gevor lacks.
Campas has an iron jaw, that guys like Duddy and Macklin pounded the whole night without result. Asikainen struck him hard only once, and he looked like he had just risen from coma.
Sebastian Sylvester, the guy who Sturm fears to fight now, who destroyed Castillejo, has been once on his ass and once on his stomach on the canvas because of Asikainen.
Anyway, I´m just saying that Asikainen has proven himself and should win. The title they are fighting for now, Asikainen already took from a better guy than Gevor!

Huge heavyweight Alexander Ustinov(10-0) from Belarus will fight Livin Castillo(14-5) on the undercard of Wlad vs Thompson this upcomming saturday in Germany.
Czech boxing 's hightlight 2008 will be staged in the Czech Republic's second biggest city Brno at the end of July.
The game and likeable Michal Bilak will rematch his tough compatriot Jindrich Velecky who went the full route with Czech olmypic silver medalist Rudolf Kraj a couple of months ago.
Czech cruiser weight Roman Kracik(28-1) will square off against teak tough French based Arab Rachid El-Hadak((14-7). Both fighters' record is a bit misleading. Kracik is a bit overrated whereas El-Hadak has already fought the who is who of his division.El-Hadak vs Kracik can really go either way.
Lukas Konecny(36-3) first outing to a ring after his glorious and exciting battle with reigning world title holder Sergej Dzindziruk will be against Brasilian journeyman Dos Santos(20-14).
Lubos Suda's first fight after his loss to Enad Licina on the undercard of Povetkin vs Chambers will be against the well known Argie Garay.
:DGot you,guys!
Juan Garay, and not Hugo Garay, will face Suda.Garay has a record of 14 victories and 7 losses.
Suda is the last fighter who was able to defeat Firat Arslan.
Ukranian olmypian Alex Mazikin(12-2) is scheduled to face undefeated Armenian heavy weight talent Artur Marabyan(11-0) at the end of august.
Spanish based Romanian banger Alejandro Lakatos (29-4) is still in the game.
He will take on an unknown French based African journeyman in Spain on july the 18th.
Sylvester´s team has now informed EBU that they will vacate the title. Asikainen will fight for it this autumn.
This thread was a great idea Odo. :good
Any news on Alexeev?

i think gevor will grind down asikainen late.
I think it will go the distance, and the winner will be the one who´s backyard they are fighting on... sadly.
Word is out that Erdei's next opponent will be his stable mate Braehmer.
Grigory Drozd(29-1) will face a limited journeyman in another stay busy fight. He is scheduled to face Tolgat Dosanov(10-9) in Kazan,Russia, on july the 31st.
Dosanov is a durable journeyman ,but not exactly the type of opponent Drozd should face in the ring at this stage of his career.
Romanian heavy weight talent Bogdan Dinu(1-0) will fight an American no-hoper(2-2) on native Romanian soil on august the 1st.
Czech hero Lukas Konecny(36-3) will square off against decent Brasilian Dos Santos(24-12) on the big fight card in the Czech Republic's second biggest city Brno on July the 29th.
Undefeated Russian based Armenian heavy weight talent Artur Marabyan(11-0) will enter uncharted territory in his upcomming fight with Alex Mazikin(12-2)
Mazikin, a former Ukranian olympian and experienced amateur fighter, has already faced some very good names in his pro career. He will be the first big test for Marabyan in his short pro career.
German based ko artist Marcos Maidana(23-0,22 ko's ) scored a second round ko victory over Argentinian Da Silva(10-2) in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires two weeks ago.
He will challenge the reigning wba champ Andrej Kotelnik from Ukraine at the end of this year.
Kotelnik(29-2) will defend his title on native soil on septembre the 13th. His challenger will be Norio Kimura(34-5) from Japan.
Denis Inkin(33-0) won wide point decision in a one-sided tune up fight against unheralded Russian journeyman Sergej Boroshapkin(6-1) in Jekarterinburg,Russia.
Former Ukranian amateur star Ismael Sillakh has turned pro on American soil.Surprisingly,he hasnt turned pro in Germany, but over there in the USA.
I am positive that American fight fans will enjoy watching the Ukranian talent do his job in the paid ranks.
Robert Helenius will fight 5th of September in Sweden and 4th of October in the undercard of Abraham - Marquez at Bamberg, Germany.
Asikainen will now face Roberto de Oliveira de Jesus (13-2) of Brazil on next saturday´s tune-up fight for the EBU MW title clash with Gevor. I personally have a strong feeling that Asikainen vs. Gevor might take place in Finland! Will Gevor even fight then...?

Uzelkov vs Lakatos in a title eliminator on november 15th in Kiev.Winner gets Garay/Brahmer.
Polish olympian Alexy Kuziemski(15-0) will clash with former world champ Yuri Barashian(25-4) on the undercard of Garay vs Braehmer.
Kuziemski cant crack an egg with his soft punches, but his awkward style poses a huge problem for any opponent. He has already collect some decent scalps: gatekeeper Karanevich, rising German based Bosnian Enad Licina, and olympic silver medalist Aripgadziev(who lost the final to Andre Ward).
Barashian-a former kickbox star-can bang as he proved in his encounter with German Thomas Ullrich.
By the way Enad Liciana is scheduled to take on Otis Grant on the undercard of AA vs Marquez.
As for Ullrich according to the news he will compete at cruiser weight for the remaining time of his active pro career.

I guess that you were speaking about Kuziemski then. I usually get bored silly watching that feather fisted Polish version of Sven Ottke.

Does anybody now exactly why now Kuziemski is scheduled to fight Tarvydas and not Barashian?
Barashian's coach said today that Barashian was offered a fight with Erdei in the USA - but that sound like a load of bullshit to me. Or his coach doesn't know where USA are or who Erdei is and that his fight with Francis on January 10 had been already announced.
Anybody in the know?

Francis fight is off - Francis declined for some strange reason.
My guess is that Erdei will face either Barashian in January or another average fighter and then Barashian.
He may be waiting to see if Braehmer beats Garay Saturday for a unification fight that will be big in Germany

Thank you, micky!
Your words do make some sense out of this. Braehmer-Erdei would be big in Germany!
Oral - Sipos rematch today!!!
Former amateur star Ali Ismailov(14-1) will headline a fight show in the beautiful city of St.Petersbourg/Russia today. His opponent will be an undeated fighter from Argentine, a boxer name Rodolfo De Domicis(13-0).
Three fellow cruiser weights will appear on the undercard: French based Valery Brudov(36-2) will take on Erdei's victim DeAndrey Abron (16-2),and hard hitting American based Vadim Tokarev(25-1) will square off against Emanuel Nwodo(22-6),and last but not least Alexander Kotlobay(11-1) will duke it out with Hide's victim Michail Nasyrov(19-1).
