What is the point in making articles like this. There are so many backstabbers and bastards in this world. Evander Holyfield has did nothing but be a dedicated professional, revolutionized the sport as a athlete. He is still fighting and still loves the sport, a win is a win. Evander Holyfield is stilling wining, no matter what anybody says. Mike Tyson couldn’t could barely last 6 rounds when he was 38. All I know is that Evander Holyfield has a heart, determination and is defiant.
In life you only life, this is no dress rehearsal, that’s what people have to understand.
Die trying.

The guy who wrote the article is right Evander could end up a right state if he doesn't retire now.
You look like a fag.

I think Holy might just get the last laugh, boxing wise, when he beats Sultan/Chagaev or even Peter/maskaev. I think he may just grab another belt, but he won't be "undisputed" champ. One thing he has taught us fans.................you can't underestimate Evander Holyfield.

As bad as the current crop of champions are
Wlad, Chagaev and Ibragimov are not bad. :smoke

i saw the fight holy looked good and after the fight sounded articulate with no slurring. he is a grown up he is doing what he wants to do and his eventual retirement is no one elses business but his own. i personally think he can capture a piece of the heavyweight title. he can probably beat all the belt holders except wlad

that was the worst part of the article. Otherwise fairly accurate.

I would rather not see him continue fighting as he continues to pile on the brain damage, but he has earned the right to fight and he is a warrior, so I wouldn't be surprised if he won a title again. The thing that bothers me is that he said he wouldn't stop until he became undisputed champion.

Yea and his name has also been linked to steroids. Not that its been proven but look how big he got since the days he was fighting at cruiserweight......

I will watch you change your tune when Evander wins a version of the title..
Holyfield is as good as some of the active contenders , he is an aging atg who still raises eyebrows when he beats some semi decent names..

fuck all of you. You're not Evander's mommy, the man lives for this sport, and he is willing to die for it. Evander is a true warrior and I will support him no matter what he decides to do. Quit trying to break his spirit, clearly it won't happen.
I agree with this winner. I also enjoy watching this punch drunk faded ex-champ continue on the road to the undisputed heavyweight title! Watching him taking so many leatherings at the hands of men he would have eaten alive 10 years earlier has been very entertaining.

Yeah, but it took many years and an exceptional work ethic to get to where he is now, and he still isn't a big heavyweight.

I agree. A lot of people say they're doing it because they care about Evander, but so many of these people, including the writer of that article, seem to come off as condescending and insulting. And I hate it when people write an article about somebody as if that person is actually reading it.
A guy like Holyfield would rather get the tar beaten out of him then retire not pursuing his dreams. It's his choice, and he seems healthy. He seems pretty lucid in his recent interviews.

Allot of people are linked to Steroids. Evander Holyfield has never failed a drugs test in the whole of his career, thats the fact!. He is not excalty the incredible hulk; he is 6"3 and 215-220pounds. Evander Holyfeild revolutionized boxing a sport which was living in the past with training and sports science. Evander Holyfeild was one of the first to introduce modern training regimes "high tech training" he was a student of the sport and loved it. People try to break his spirit what’s changed after all this time.
So basically shut up, you are saying nothing new.

that's what everyone is afraid of.....that he WILL die trying to get a title. the guy is totally shot.

It's about how quickly he bulked up and how after training the same plus the fact that age adds weight naturally that he's still around the same weight now that prompts questions. Plus who is Evan Field?

Evander Holyfield is educated about training, he did not put on all that muscle mass in a matter of weeks. When he first started fight at heavyweight he was 200lbs. Evander Holyfield is no average joe off the street he is a athlete, obvious has great genetics. Evander Holyfield was training totally different when he was moving up to heavyweight, he was bodybuilding/powerlifting, high tech training.
Fact of the matter is Evander Holyfield has never failed a drugs test.
SO basiclaly shut up.

nor has barry bonds, but everyone knows he's juicing. that said, i don't know for sure if evander ever has, though...but it's not that hard to beat the tests.

I think Rocky VI had a big impact on these old fighters coming back from their retirements and giving it their last shot to once more get the thrill of holding one of these belts.

Holyfield is kicking ass lately, so it's silly to say he should retire for his own health.
All you guys squealing about brain damage etc. might as well say let's ban boxing. Maybe boxing is morally indefensible, but hey, that's not exactly news. Singling out Holyfield because he's old and used to be great is unfair.
Wladimir Klitschko has been KO'd more times than Holyfield has, and everyone kisses Klitschko's ass.
Holyfield's on a 4 fight winning streaK. Guys like Shannon Briggs, Lamon Brewster, Peter Okhello, Owen Beck, Jameel McCline and Monte Barrett all got title shots and who did they beat to deserve a shot ?
People hate Evander because he obviously has self-belief that the rest of us could never match. It's pure jealousy.
These guys who wrote articles a few years ago saying Holyfield is utterly finished and should be banned from fighting are now worried that Holyfield might actually prove to be among the world's best heavyweights. He might picked up a belt or two and prove all of them wrong.
Of course, he might NOT. But while he's winning I dont see how he can be criticized for fighting.
He's a fighter. That's what he does.
The only reason we know who he is is because of what he does. He fights and he does not quit.
And all you bitches who pretend to "care" about him, telling him to stop doing what he loves doing should just shut the fuck up !
You guys should just be thankful that you ever got to witness Holyfield practice his craft. None of you are worthy to tell him to quit.

I think you're delusional. He is 44 years old. A middle aged man!
How am I delusional ?
I say Holyfield is a fighter and that's why he fights. And he's winning his fights.
Exactly, where is the delusion ?
These are facts.
he cannot take the sort of punishment a big fighter would deal out to him now.
So what ? There are plenty of guys who cannot take his punishment. This is boxing. Most fighters out there cannot take the punishment from the top 5 HWS, so why single out Holyfield ?
His 4 win streak is against fairly sub-standard opposition and proves nothing.
What do you mean it "proves nothing" ? It proves he's too good for those 4 guys, and it also suggests he's too good for hundreds of others on that level.
If a young prospect had a registered close win over Fres Oquendo and a complete battering of Saverese in the last 10 months people would be saying he might be quite good. But cos it's old Holyfield you dismiss it totally.
Like I said, guys like Monte Barrett, Owen Beck, Shannon Briggs and Lamon Brewster and Jameel McCline got title shots with no better credentials.
These are the facts. Who's deluded ?
HW might be a weak division, but ANY of the current champs could beat his ass like a drum right now.
......... in your opinion, and maybe you're right. But since when has being a level below the elite been a reason to be thrown away and retired and told to give up ?
I mean, if everyone who wouldn't beat the champs was made to retire there would be no boxing.
The difference with Wlad is that KO'd or not, he's a relatively young man and those were straight KOs, not beatings like Holyfield took from Bowe, Toney or Lewis.
The point is, even the best get their asses kicked now and then. There are 30 year old journeymen fighters out there who've been beaten up 20 or 30 times, and are never in shape, so why all the fuss about Holyfield ?
Holyfield sounds awful - his speech is slurring, he's looking more glazed.
He's passed every advanced medical test going. He's undergone all sorts of tests. He's passed them all.
Like I've said before, if slurred speech and brain damage was the issue then perhaps y'all should be calling for a complete ban on boxing. Holyfield is one of the few men who has passed all the current tests , he's undergone the most extensive examinations.
There are hundreds of punch drunk boxers out there, young and old. Perhaps most boxers end up slurring - what do you want to do about it ?
yes there's hints of the old talent, but he's a million miles from who he was.
Of course. But he's doing well for a 44 year old. He aint getting whupped by the likes of Billy Zumbrun and Kevin McBride.
it's sad to see him continue.
It's not sad.
I am worried for any fighter who would ruint heir life for misguided notions of pride.
"misguided" in your opinion.
All fighters risk or damage their health.
I think it's far more worrying that these journeymen desperate for money are risking their health and ruin their life just to pay the bills. That's the real tragedy.
Guys like Holyfield, who are fit and are doing it for pride and glory, are a breath of fresh air.
We watch the "opponent" types get pummelled on a daily basis probably because they have children to feed and no qualifications for other work, punched into oblivion for a few hundred or thousand dollars to pay the bills, and people wanna shed tears over Evander Holyfield ? (a man who is doing what he loves, with a whole team and a load of cash behind him).
The hypocrisy is immense.

I just wonder how all the "let the man follow his dream" fans will feel when they watch Holyfield get the worst sustained beating of his career.
That's the way boxer's careers end when they hang around too long. But it's the most devastating when it happens to a beloved Heavyweight Champ. People never got over watching Joe Louis and Ali getting destroyed.
I was never a huge Lewis fan when he was fighting. But the guy seems much happier now that he's retired and can enjoy his fortune. It's good to see these guys fat, rich, happy and coherent. I wish Vander would do the same asap, but he won't.
