This one of the most interesting matches in the next few months.
Both are solid wreslters with Hendo having the edge in ground and subs. They both have very heavy hands, and Hendo's chin is about as solid as they come.
I've got to give the edge to the first time ever Unified mma champ.

Rampage only weakness is the clinch which hendo does not use. I hope rampage takes the win. IBut I think this match could go either way. 50/50. We have already seen rampage fuck up some serious wrestlers. We don't see rampage on his back much either. I dont think hendo will be able to take him down and will be force to fight standing up which i think rampage has the edge over hendo.

Rampage can trade with Hendo because he has a good chin. The accumulation of strikes from Wand and Shogun is what stopped Rampage. Hendo from what I seen has very good wrestling and a good standup game so its going to be tough. But I think Rampage because he is naturally bigger and has similar attributes as well as the hunger to stay champ will win maybe by late stoppage but more likely decision

I really can't see this fight ending. I think it will be a decision, but I'm unsure which way it will go right now. Helluva fight.

Randelman had him down a number of times, Wandy, Arona, and Shogun all got him down with realitve ease. Henderson is a better wrestler then all of them.

Then you must of not seen the hendo and arona fight. Arona go the better of him on the ground game. Hendo is good but he got beat.

Hendo is still the better wrestler than Arona.

This isn't wrestling.....this is MMA!
Can you punch someones head on the ground in wrestling? NAY!
Not to mention Hendo is practically a striker nowadays anyway, he doesn't really utilize his wrestling skills much anymore.
the same with Liddell and his wrestling.

I wasn't saying that, just pointing out that Hendo is a far superior wrestler to Arona.
But you make a good point about Hendo, he should use his wrestling more, he is very good and GnP and can stay out of almost any sub, but in his last 2 fights he used his wrestling brilliantly.
He took down Vitor at will and ground him down the whole fight, then in the Silva fight he mauled him in the second round from top position, and had great takedowns throughout the fight, and it really helped to have two guys who could call them correctly in Trigg and Barnett; Mir is good at properly calling wrestling as far as MMA announcers go too.

Hendo has NEVER been KOed, or TKOed, so I'd give Hendo the chin advantage, so don't think Hendo won't trade with Rampage. Plus Hendo is a champ too (2 diff classes), what makes you so sure that Rampage is the more hungry champ?

I have to go with Henderson, although I feel that he should stay at 185 where he is at his best. I wouldn't be suprised to see Rampage win do to his size.

I like Mir he is technical as far as moves and has alot more knowlegde then dumb and dumber (UFC announcers)

Actually you can.
Practially a striker? Why cause he choose to stand and trade with Wandy? Watch the welterweight grand prix and tell me he is just a striker now.
Go watch some fights then come and talk to me.

I understand your point, I think that Rampage will win because he is naturally bigger and stronger. Hendo can compete with the heavier opponents because of the wrestling skills he posseses. I said stoppage because I think that page will get top position because of his natural strength and GnP his way to a win.
Also Chucks chin was never checked but page put him on his ass with one shot so its not impossible to lose by TKO or KO. And i mentioned the hunger of Page because now he in the limelight and will want to stay there because of the money it brings. Hendo meanwhile has been a champ for longer. Hendo will be up for the fight no doubt but I think Page will win.
P.S. i havent seen much of Hendo but i seen a few fights so judgement based on the few fights i seen

I hope rampage wins...I'm tired of seeing belt holders losing and not even defending their belt even once... Hendo is a very legit opponent , there's no shame to lose against a guy like that but it would be preferable to see jackson winning that one...imo

They will probably say this, but honestly he might as well put the Pride belts up on a shelf because they won't be worth anything unless they go against all indications and bring back Pride.

Let history not forget he won those belts during an era when PrideFC was at the top and had most of the best fighters.

Dana White has announced this will be a non-title fight.
So whoever loses will still keep there respective belt.

Sherdog.
I assumne they're doing this to stop one person holding 3 belts, with more people holding more belts they'll be able to market fights better and hype them up with the title 'Champion' beside a fighter.
Hopefully the word 'champion' in MMA doesn't become as devalued as it has in boxing.
Sounds like its on its way.
Why even take the fight then if you are Hendo. Hendo can what, say "I beat the champ but didn't get the belt for it!" Everybody would(and should) look at Hendo as the real champ and start looking at the UFC as a sham. Of course this is on the assumption that Dan wins, of course you can say the same thing if Rampage wins, although I still don't understand how you can win the PrideFC belt fighting in a cage (instead of ring) under American rules (as opposed to Japanese).
But I guess it doesn't matter anymore noboies belts will change hands anyway.
Oh yea Fuk Dana White!

Well, they are still following this farce that both organizations are separete brands, even though PRIDE has been stripped of all its fighters.
A new Japanese organisation will just be built up again to challege the UFC.
The 'new' PRIDEfc will have a more difficult task as UFC has now gone mainstream, one of the reasons PRIDE flourished was because UFC had been banned on cable at the time but now with UFC's resurgence and more money fighters might not be so willing to go to Japan and fight.
If a new Japanese org can tap into the Chinese market (a market of 1.3 billion people) then that will easily become the biggest and richest organisation. Although judging on the hatred between all things Japanese and Chinese that may well be unlikely.
Perhaps a Chinese organisation will apear or pan-continental european one.

I tell you what, Nobuyuki Sakakibara must feel like complete shit at the moment.
He probably sold PRIDE in good faith thinking it will be kept alive in its then current state, the Ferttitas said so much bullshit at that conference about how they respected PRIDE and loved it and will keep it alive for the Japenese fans.......then gutted it of all talentand installing pussy unified rules.
The unfied rules system is very slowly starting to take away the entire reason why, vale tudo/ufc was created.
I mean christ! it doesn't have to be like early UFC's but no knees or kicks to the head on a grounded opponent?
What will they ban next?
Are they going to ban punching opponents on the ground? Elbows? kicks to the head?
Will it become essentially boxing+grappling and move futher and further away from what MMA is really all about!
Josh Gross is reporting that his zuffa contacts are saying it IS gonna be a title fight. Just heard this on the Stephen Quadros radio show.
Report: Henderson and Jackson Will Fight for UFC Light Heavyweight Championship ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Posted by UFC Junkie on July 3, 2007 at 7:52 pm ET
[Only registered and activated users can see links] UFC 75 main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson (27-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and PRIDE welterweight and middleweight champion Dan Henderson (22-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will, in fact, be a title fight.
Today on The Stephen Quadros Show ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Quadros and and co-host Aaron Crecy passed along a report — citing Zuffa LLC (parent company of the UFC) sources — that the fight would be for the UFC light heavyweight championship.
Earlier today, we passed along a report from the Orange County Register ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in which UFC president Dana White was quoted as saying that the fighters’ belts would not be on the line. With the update from Quadros, though, yesterday’s report now seems erroneous — possibly the result of a simple misunderstanding.
And now, even though the fight appears it won’t unify the titles as White first mentioned, the bout reportedly will have the UFC’s 205-pound title on the line.
Henderson, it seems, will retain the PRIDE belt regardless of the fight’s outcome.
Jackson, a former PRIDE fighter who transitioned into the UFC earlier this year, picked up the light-heavyweight belt by defeating longtime champ Chuck Liddell at UFC 71.
Henderson, a U.S. Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler, won the UFC 17 tournament in 1998 before heading overseas for a successful career in PRIDE. After winning the organization’s welterweight title, he scored an upset of Wanderlei Silva at PRIDE 33 earlier this year to pick up the middleweight belt, as well.
Ever since UFC owners Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta purchased PRIDE earlier this year, the Japanese-based organization has been in a state of limbo. White even went as far as calling the business “a mess,” and with numerous PRIDE fighters being signed to UFC contracts, it’s remains unknown if an event will be held under the PRIDE name anytime soon.

I agree with you on shogun over rampage if they were to fight a second time but hendo is a different kind of fighter. You are so quick to judge on that one. All i have to say is it would be a good fight and I wouldn't know who would win.

Will it become essentially boxing+grappling and move futher and further away from what MMA is really all about! The fact of the matter is that Pride wasn't making a large enough profit after the fighter pay outs, etc etc without a TV deal. When their Japanese television sponsor dropped them, they had 5-6 more fight cards. They might of lasted a bit longer if they hadn't try to come into the mainstream American market at the time they did. Sakakibara is a very well known asshole, he backs out of deals and makes other possible deals impossible with his negotiations. If the copy wasn't at deaths door to begin with how come DSE sold out for all of 50 million?
Blame Sakakibara for being a asshole, he murdered his baby.
