Hatton had a huge fanbase when he was WBU Light Welter Champion, drawing in excess of 5,000-10,000 fans at his mid career fights. He has the fanbase because over here, where there are so many prima donna sports stars, Z list celebraties, etc, he has kept to his roots, and generally represents the 'every man'.

He has gained respect throughout his acheivements, and fans. He will only lose those new fans who perhaps dont appreciate his persona outside of the boxing ring.
