I've always dreamed of having a few amateur fights, but because of a lack of any nearby boxing gyms, its not to be. But it often leaves me wondering what if college boxing was still around? So what happened to it, was there some severe injury, some kind of scandal, or did it just die out on its own? The majority of the guys I know now would show some interest in training if it were accessible, though I doubt most would stick with it for long. But some guys would bound to be successful and it would increase interest in boxing overall.

University of Michigan offers it as a club sport. But not too many places seem to have it.

I guess "chronic traumatic brain injury" and "higher learning" don't go hand in hand.

I'm in Canada and I've been talking with a friend who is National Champion, etc., and we're working on some things to get it started in Canada again. Once we have our plans worked out we're going to try to get Russ Anber on board (from In This Corner on TSN). Canada is going through a boxing boom right now with Molitor, Bute, etc., and I think it could be big.

Well, if you were really good, you could always go to Northern Michigan University; the Olympic Education Center. :D

Well holy fuck, I'm near "San José State University". I should have gone here for my major. I should ask my boy that goes there if SJSU still has their boxing program.
