Well, its been awhile for me to calm down and everything, the fight didnt go how i wanted but i knew in the back in my mind that it was a tall order, vargas's condition isnt something that gets better over time (that being the degenerative bulging L-5 disc that caused his constant overuse of his pain medication to cause internal bleeding in the first place)

but i could tell from the first left hook that he tried to throw in the first round that it was going to be a long night, and my heart sank.

but feroz being the fighter that he is, made mayorga work hard for the victory and i came away pleased.

Mayorga to me looked decent, not at all the force of nature he was at 147, but still not as bad as he looked against trinidad.... id like to see him head to 47 and get some paydays, i think he could trouble cintron... but at the same time, mayorga doesnt have the chin he used to and id hate to see him take a lot of punishment.

To me, basically.... it was a good fight, and it was exactly what it should have been.... two awsome warrior spirits who physically were past it, but showed whats inside them, and ended everything with respect for one another, which i loved.... i loved how mayorga apologized to vargas and his wife.... shows what kind of man he CAN be.

seeing vargas go down hurt... but i knew that it came from him just not having core strength, leg strength, and balance to absorb them.... not from him being that hurt. but it hurt nontheless to see my once ferocious champion being sent to the floor.

anyways..... vargas rides off into the sunset and mayorga to a lower weight class. Vargas is still and always will be my all time favorite fighter, and mayorga remains near the top of my favorites as well....

being at the fight was breathtaking..... unbelievable and when i get the pics and vids up ill post em.

oh... and cintron proved the point i was trying to make in that thread i created about him.... 100% he is the same fighter as always. spirits usually dont change no matter how much physically better you may get. margarito will beat him again and i GARUNTEE you that williams batters him to submission. but lets also not forget that he did win.... and props to him on that, maybe he has gotten better as perhaps the old cintron wouldnt have won... and maybe this will make him better. damn his opponent, i cant spell his name, was badass... i wish he would get more skilled so he could take himself further.... ive seen from experiance now that fighters like that can only stand on being iron for so long.

anyways... great experiance. seen mosley, tito, stallone, the mexican heavyweight (forgot his name) talked to vargas's brother roger who says he has a fight coming up, ect, ect. good stuff..

shit and i forgot to add, kicked it and sat next to freddy LOL!!! our own freddy.... hes a cool cat for sure and knows his boxing. real nice guy.

Sounds like a great time Kirk!

Sorry Vargas didn't pull it out for you, but as usual, he showed great heart.

He is a fighter I will always like also, because although there were nights he was severely outgunned (Tito and Oscar come to mind) he always made it entertaining with his intestinal fortitude.

Feroz has nothing to be ashamed of, and I wish him the best of luck.

Thanks for sharing your experience. :good

While watching the fight I was actually imagining you being there and wondering where you and Freddy were sat , its always sad to see great fighters go out on a loss, especially when there a mere shell of themselves, Vargas did himself proud and I beleive he was in the best possible shape he could safely get himself into.

I don't know if I agree with you on Mayorga's chin tho, it look pretty solid to me, he was gettin tagged with alot of hooks from a bigger man and just taking them, if anything Mayorga's chin is just a testiment of how damn hard DLH and Tito hit :!:.

Vargas likely cost me a Prediction leaugue Championship, but yes he did fight and I hold my head up with that.

The worst was the 11th round that would have been 10-9 Vargas without the last second KD. He might have pulled it out, but he didnt:-(

Mayorga? Fuck him, I'll never root for the rapist, cant wait til he gets his ass whipped some more. Vargas is the first time I lost going against The Shame of Nicaragua:good

I was sure Vargas was gone take this fight, but from all of his comeback fights since the Joval fight, he looked the worst in this. His stomach looked bloated as hell and he had no balance. Even though Vargas has not been the same fighter since the Tito loss, you still got to respect the fact that he literally toyed with Castillejo who went on to become a middleweight champ as well as gave Mosley all he could handel in their first fight.

Im glad Mayorga won i had a little $ on him:D i figured Vargas would lose he has had just to many health-weight problems to win, it's hard to believe Vargas is only 30, he's been around forever and his body has just broken down, like an old man's, i was never a fan but he has given us a lot of damn good fight's over the years..
