I like Quarry in this one.
He does everything better than Ray.
Guarry by UD.

Feeding time for Jerry. Mercer loses a pretty lopsided decision here.

Mercer was made to order for Quarry, Jerry by UD and there are some fireworks
im seing ray soaking up an early beating and coming on strong, stopping a bashed up and bleeding quarry in the championship rounds...sure quarry could fight and box, but ya could hit ray with a friggin bat and he aint goin nowhere......remember prime mercer anihilated morrison and gave atg lewis hell.....i think he wins a war of attrition here...

Quarry, by decision. I can't see him stopping the iron jawed Mercer inside the distance, however he'd outwork him down the final stretch of 'Championship' rounds.

Quarry is really quite a good fighter, better than Mercer ever was - I like Mercer but not here - If Quarry werent fighting in the 70s against the best of the best ever he would have a better career

Quarry would beat Mercer easily, but wouldn't be able to hurt him.

Should be a good fight if both fighters are well prepared.
Mercer beat the likes of a Ossie Ocasio W8, a very determined Bert Cooper W12, Francesco Damiani KO9, a previously undefeated Tommy Morrison KO5, Jerry Halstead KO2, Jesse Ferguson W10 (and L10 in their first fight), Tim Witherspoon W10, and Darroll Wilson W10 among others. He also lost a very close decision to Lennox Lewis that some felt he should have won. He gave Holyfield a good fight as well. 6'1" with a 77" reach. He carried 238 Lbs. very well when he fought Lewis. He was outboxed vs. Larry Holmes but Quarry would have been outboxed by Holmes as well... even an old Holmes.
Quarry was 6' with a 72" reach and about 200lbs.
Quarry wouldn't be able to make Mercer blink with his best punch. Mercer would be able to hurt Quarry. Mercer would be able to cut Quarry. Mercer would be able to set up his power punches with a good left jab.
Mercer by late round stoppage.

This is pretty much spot on imo.

After eating Holmes' jab all night Mercer made better use of his jab. Sure, he lost to Ferguson in their first fight but he was far from his best in this fight.
