Good lord, talk about starting shit with the absolute worst person in the world to do so with.
From mmamovement.com:
"PRIDE veteran Aleksander Emelianenko got into a bar fight in Moscow last night. According to ValeTudo.ru, Aleksander was in the company of two female companions last night when a group of intoxicated men at a nearby table began to get loud and rowdy. The table of drunk men then proceeded to direct some ?inappropriate? remarks at Aleksander?s female cohorts. Aleksander, being the great man that he is, decided to stand up for the two ladies. He approached the table of hoodlums and shortly after, a fight erupted. Several chairs were thrown, and almost immediately the thugs realized they picked a fight with the wrong guy. Before long the hoodlums were screaming and crying for help. At this point, security officials rushed to scene and handcuffed Aleksander, mistaking him for the culprit. While detained, Aleksander gave his account of the story at which point in time the officials realized that they had taken the wrong guy. After 20 minutes of being held captive, Aleksander Emelianenko was released and even offered to be escorted back to his hotel to which the gentle giant refused."

I'd hardly call him a 'gentle giant' though!

In the United States he would have been charged with a felony. Our laws seem to protect scumbag instigators. God forbid if one of them were minority. Then you could add hate crime to the charges.
One thing i dispise about America is that fact.
Seriously, I was always a decent "B student" and was a guy who no one fucks with. In America those 2 are mutually exclusive.

The russian police must be good to just take one mans word for what happened.
yeah it sounds weird, the cops hear what he has to say and then suddenly believe him and let him go.....for all they knew he could have just beat up those guys for fun. But then again who knows what really happened. The story usually told is not always accurate.

He probably paid the cops some money, the authorities over there are crooked as hell, either that or he got his mafia pals to help him out.

He didn't pay them off, he was in an open area with lots of witnesses and is a minor celeb, the Russian justice system isn't totally corrupt. He didn't break the law, so he got off.
As far as Fedor, I want Aleks on my side when dealing with a bunch of drunks, more than Fedor any day of the week

why?
because at 6'6 and more of a mean streak in him he prob also has better standup than Fedor. Fedor's best weapon is his arm bars....not that Fedor can't throw hands....just ask Gary Goodridge, but Alex is the type of a person that would hurt a person.
And Beebs how can you say there is corruption in Russia?

Have you been to Russia?
The reason I would pick Alex over Fedor in a bar fight because Fedor wouldn't fight. He wouldn't even get riled up over some pissants. He would just walk away even though he would probably kill em if he wanted to. Alex is just different personality.

no, I havn't been to Russia.....I'm just going by hear say.....so I don't know for sure and as for the second part yes I agree with you. I couldn't Imagine going face to face with Alex he looks mean is mean and has the artillary to back it up. Fedor seems more passive and wouldn't fight unless really provoked.

I didn't say it was corrupt, I said it "isn't that corrupt" to blatenly take bribes in a situation so public people half a world away would hear about it in 12 hours.
Russia is not a 3rd world country. They probably took Aleks' account, the baddies account, the girls account, and probably the shop owner and a few witnesses and realized they happened to grab the wrong guy, which is a totally reasonable mistake as Aleks is somewhere around 6'4"-6'6" 240-270 and just generally very fucking scary looking.

I vaugely recall an interview with Fedor, where he admitted to using deadly force in a self defense situation. He never came out and said he took a life but it was implied.
No further details were given. I am hesitant to even write this and will probably regret doing so.
Never heard of such interview. Besides, self-defense is not exactly what happened in Alek's case. It was more like "they got what they were asking for."

Yea, you're right. Except there are loopholes to what you said. Such as:
You can't shoot that someone in the back.
You have to shoot them and KILL them. If you don't they'll sue you for all your money and posession.
So, it's pretty bad here don't worry.

I live in the States, and that moron is talking out of his ass. In Texas, where I grew up, concealed hand gun permits are given out like candy and you can kill the shit out of anyone who's stupid enough to come onto to your property in the middle of the night. Fuck, I remember a case in Austin around '99 where a guy got off without any charges after he killed someone who he'd caught breaking into his truck by chasing him down shooting him repeatedly in the back while the guy was actually running away from him. And the notion that people would be sent to jail for 'hate crimes' if they defended themselves against a 'minority' assailant with deadly force in Texas or many other states is simply laughable.
I don't know which Right Wing pundits have been filling Robson's head with the typical "criminals have all the rights, non-whites are running wild, and the sky is falling" tripe, but he's describing conditions in fantasy land not the US.

Different states have different laws. You're talking about a state that is radically left-wing so for generalization of america its a little bit skewed. As far as i can recall you can stand your ground when someone is breaking into your place but you still can't shoot them in the back unless they committed violent crime such as rape or murder.

Laws and the behavior of prosecutors vary from state to state, but the Austin incident happened just as I described, and I'm willing to bet that the guy would have gotten away with it in just about any state south of the Mason Dixon. If I recall correctly, the law was recently changed in Florida to allow people to fire any time they "feel threatened."
As I've already said, the laws are certainly not this permissive all over the country, especially not in major urban areas that have issues with gun crime, but Robson's insinuation that Americans by and large can't defend themselves from criminals (especially ones that aren't white) was ridiculous.
:-(( leftist drivel :-((
Way to defend your position asshat.
Oh wait..you can't because you're completely full of shit.

It certainly isn't "we can't defend ourselves" but there are so many loopholes that will get you screwed.
I remember a ridiculous case in Florida where a man walked in the house and tried stealing something and got the shit beaten out of him and he sued the person who beat him up and won. In reality he had the right to use lethal force and if he would've shot him in the head then everything would've been fine.

Really depends on the state or city, you can't even get a handgun in some cities.

What I will add and I do so with trepedation is that In The Peoples Republic of California, where I reside. Every statement made applies. While concealed weapons permits are essentially impossible to obtain.
Yep. Fucking commies.
Strict gun control => some of the worst crime rates.
At least it is not as bad as in the Big Brother states like Britain and Australia, where you can not even defend yourself at home.
Full of shit politician playing off commoners fears to rob them of fundamental liberties.

Tell you what, in Russia it all works out... neither the common people nor the petty thieves have the money to buy guns. So we use "law and order," which is a common name for left fist and right fist... why you think so many good boxers come out of Russia?

I have no doubt that Alaxander is no stranger to the Russian prison sysytem to have that many tatooes. All the Tatooes have a meaning, for anyone that cares to find out what his crimes were.
