Just look at Cooper's fights with Michael Moorer, Evander Holyfield and Ray Mercer. Cooper was a watered down version of Tyson who sometimes showed up in bad shape, but when he was motivated, LOOK OUT!!!.

Cooper had the style to beat Dempsey. He was a modern heavyweight who was built like a rock, didn't fold under pressure, and was black. He would have really hurt Dempsey. He was truly awesome.

Of course, Cooper would murder the skinny Dempsey, Bert looked mean, was black and weighed ca. 215 lbs at his best, IMO a clear case, Bert KO´s Jack pretty quickly...

Cooper was an all time journeyman who might have knocked Holyfield out if the ref did not give Holyfield some home cookin' on the count.

While Cooper has a punchers chance, I'll go with Dempsey here.

This thread's not to be taken seriously.

I'll sit this one out and wait for the "Nicky Piper beats Jack Dempsey" thread to arrive, closely followed by the ultimate "Dempsey never actually beat a professional fighter!" thread.

Having an opinion is not the same as trolling. If trolling is what you think I am doing, then don't click on the thread.

Simple as that.

Obviously this thread was started for the purpose of stirring the pot, and should not be taken very serioulsy. Although, I wouldn't give Bert Cooper a snow ball's chance in hell to beat Dempsey, its not entirely unreasonable to think that a motivated and well trained Cooper could have given him a fight for a few rounds.

I watched most of Cooper's better fights between 1990-1993. At this time he was facing mainly top rated contenders. He probably wound up beating about half of them, while losing to the other half in very competitive fashion. I'll never forget the summer when I watched him slug it out with a young Ray Mercer. The fight was periodically interupted by news reports of the unfolding Gulf war( the first one ). Mercer dropped Cooper in the first, but bert came back to take Ray the full 12 rounds leaving both of them with balloon swollen faces. Not long after, Cooper was dusted early by Riddick Bowe, but then put together a nice string of wins over Joe Hipp, Loren Ross, and a few other fights that I watched. The Holyfield and Moorer fights were classics in my opinion. Both were galant efforts against two very good heavyweights in their primes.

Once again, we can't stoop as low as to give Cooper much of a chance against the great Jack Dempsey, but if Bert could show the level of competitivness that he did in 90's, I'm sure he could give Jack or anyone else a game effort on the right evening.

And thats my whole point, one could name any heavy whos ever got into the ring, most would last a round or the whole way against any other heavy, they should at least give us all some reasons to the way they think,or else its kind of pointless, and will i promise you be laughed at.

Yes, I must confess that I started this thread to stir up a bit of a hornet's nest.

I appologize for its antagonistic nature. I won't post anymore like it.
