i have the same pick as pokerbox.

i attended honeyghan v sylvester mittee and then saw honeyghan brutally destroying horace shufford an american in a final eliminator and curry`s fights were all shown on uk tv with the exception of the south korean he beat and thought honeyghan would beat him.

on a way lesser note i also thought lewis would beat ruddock, which at the time ruddock was the favourite to come out on top of the 4.

at the risk of jumping on the bandwagon, picking that fight was my claim to fame. I told all and sundry that honeyghan would flatten curry. my dad and brother were so unconvinced they never bothered watching the fight. honeyghan's win made me look like a proper smart arse.

i never saw honeyghan v curry live.

i think it was shown the next day on grandstand or world of sport, but it had a surreal feel to it.

there you had the number 1 fighter in the world being mullered from the first round in front of a scant few people who did not have a clue what was occuring.

sad that honeyghans greatest acheivement was not fought in front of a large boxing crowd.

Sergei vs Lamon was an upset of sorts i guess.

Wlad vs Peter was that one?

i don't pay attention to the odds so i am not sure if its an upset or not.

Calzaghe Lacy probably was so i called that one.

Also picked Barrera over Hamed and more recently Sprott V Harrison - I never made a pick before the fight but during the 2nd round when everyone was expecting Harrison to finish Sprott off I said to the guys I was watching the fight with that Sprott would connect with a left haymaker and that'd be the end of it, I got lucky on that one, picking the outcome and the punch that did it too :yep

Oh, come on. You are saying that noone picked Douglass? There were more than a few that called that fight. It was at this time that Tyson lost his focus (after the death of Cus) and you could see that Douglas (after the death of his mother) was in shape and not afraid. It was actually an easy call if you looked at the details. Since you won't believe it anyway, I won't tell that I did call the fight correctly.

I think the truth of the matter is there were a lot of Tyson hatters around back in the day, and all these smart arses who claim they picked Douglas are probably telling the truth. What they always fail to mention is they probably picked Tyson to lose against Berbick, Thomas, Bruno, Biggs, Holmes, Tucker etc etc etc too. I remember those days well and anyone who hatted Tyson would spout before every fight this 'this guy has the style to expose him' and were always proved wrong. In the end Tysons immaturity combined with his shit choice of wife and 'team' is what exposed him, Buster Douglas takes full credit for the win but damn Tyson is a real 'coulda woulda shoulda'....

Yes, Douglass was a somewhat timid fighter but when his mother died he became dedicated and fearless for that fight! He said he was fighting for his mothers memory. Plus with Tyson hangin out more then training it was a easy call. I remember more than a few that called it. Of course they were the more astute fight fans that based their pick on observable science rather then emotion/hype:hi:

Tyson was my favorite. When Tyson was focused and dedicated i picked him over anyone. But one could clearly see that Tyson (mentally) was aloof for the Douglass fight. Most know that the mental part (at the top level) is the biggest part. You could even see the defeatism in Tysons eyes during the stare-down while Douglass looked fearless.

Foreman over Frazier. George had the 38-0 record over Class B Fighters, and Frazier had been on cruise control since the Ali fight. My Texas Air National Guard Officer managed 185 lb Terry Daniels who fought Frazier post Ali, and told me Terry had seriously hurt Frazier once early in the fight.

So, at the Close Circuit screen in Austin, there is Big George towering over Frazier and telling Joe he is going to whip him like he is his daddy, and Frazier blinked.

Then you gotta go with George.

I like this one because there is a good explanation as to why you went with that prediction.

So what's the rationale with all these guys kicking Tarver to beat Jones?

Ive only followedboxing since 2004 but Ive HONESTLY correctly picked Hatton over Tzsyu (One of the only posters to do so but everybody is lieing about it nowadays) I picked Hopkins to SCHOOL Tarver which was the title of the thread I made about it, and Calzaghe to UD Lacy, none of them are more than 3 or 4-1 odds but come this weekend my biggest upset correctly picked will be Brewster to KO Wlad again:happy :happy :happy
