USA!!!
Just read on Russian news that Povetkin's next fight is going to be on Sep. 29th in the USA(no City stated) possibly against a Top-10 fighter.
I hope HBO picks it up as well. After all, we are talking about the best young HW out there.

The date isn't fixed yet. It could also be the 6th of October on the undercard of Peter - Maskaev...

I think it would be an American fighter, so lets not count Virchis.

Not a bad choice either.

the 29th is the date of the Taylor-Pavlik fight in Atlantic City - that would be outstanding if Povetkin is on the undercard! That would be more incentive for me to drive out there and check out that card live! I don't know if he's ready for Brock or Rahman though...
I'd like to see him fight another undefeated prospect like Eddie Chambers or Chris Arreola.
Calvin Brock wouldn't spell that much of a problem for a top prepared Alexander Povetkin - remember, he was fighting with a minor injury vs. Donald...

I would not mind either if he wipes the floor with either Chambers or Arreola for that matter. However, do you honestly think, their promoters will let their undefeated puffs anywhere next to Povetkin at this stage. By the way, Povetking with only 13 fights has a better resume than both of the combined which is 49 fights.

How about barrett?

Povetkin is one of the better prospect in the boxe, that's great for boxing, that gonna be nice if the media hype him a lot 'cause he has the talent for what the people expect from him.
:good Povetkin is going to do big things in the heavyweight divsion.
Great fighter. Very impressive aggressive style with good power.

I actually think after dominating Donald it would be a step back. Donald is a much more dangerous of an opponent than Barrett.

Rahmen would be perfect.
Good power, shakey chin, and we know him well. So this would be a good test of Poevetkin's power, chin,a nd other skliis.

Could be a good fight.
But i want to watch him versus Solis, that would be a Step Up in competition for Sasha.

This is outstanding news. It'll be truly exciting to see him finally get covered on HBO. I think if they haven't seen him yet, Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley (and Max Kellerman) are going to have their eyes opened to the future of the Heavyweight division-Alexander "Poppin' Fresh" Povetkin. Can't wait to see who he fights and if it'll be broadcast.

Solis has two fights, at the moment Oldanier has no name and does nothing to further Sasha' ambitions outside of hardcore boxing fans. Solis will stay in Germany for the time being, and Sasha will fight an American heavyweight with a name I assume, in order to raise his profile and prepare for his takeover of the Heavyweight division.

danny williams would be a good opponent. povetkin should tame him in about 8 rounds, however williams has the punch to test any prospect.
would be a good follow up

You didn't understand what I said. Do you think the American fans, who follow PROFESSIONAL boxing, have any idea who Oldanier Solis is because of his amateur career? They don't. For God's sake, Aleksandr Povetkin was one of the greatest Amateur Super Heavyweights ever, and has more pro fights, and he's just looking to begin getting a name in the USA.

The american fans also don't know who is Barrett, Donald, Beck, Fields, Lyachkovich, etc.
They could really hype this fight to the casual fan, as the battle of the 2 best prospects in the Boxing World.
And they could fight in Miami.

If Lyachovich beat Sasha on that show it would be a great double for team Elite.. ( Sam Peter , Sergei and Ivaylo Gotziev..) It would make a lot of sense..

They aren't going to fight in Miami on September 29 if that's the same night Taylor-Pavlik is on. It'll be on the undercard probably in Atlantic City, which is good because the Russian community in NYC can come down to cheer on Povetkin. But saying a guy with 2 pro fights is one of the best prospects in boxing is going to be hard for a casual fan to swallow. A guy like Lyakhovich, on the other hand, has a good record, and you'll get those fans who may have seen him fight Brewster; with his record and expereince he's promotable as a major step up for Povetkin.

1) All of those guys are more well-known, even by noxing fans, than Solis. Yes, even Fields and Beck, who are jokes and would be a big step down for Povetkin
2) Solis has visa problems with getting into the US and couldn't fight here even if he wanted to.
3) If these two guys are going to rule the roost in the future, why face them off now? Wouldn't it make much more sense to have them fight each other 3 or 4 years from now, when they both have belts and it could actually be a huge fight?
Lyakhovich would make sense as a good fight. I guess Rahman could work too, but I doubt DKP puts Rahman out there like that. It'll be tough for him to get that big of a name at this point unless a body is willing to sanction the fight as setting up a #1 contender spot. He's dangerous but not well known, and doesn't bring money to the table. For that reason, a US prospect on prospect fight would make sense, possibly Chambers. Povetkin would probably destroy any of the decent US prospects, but at least it gives them a shot to prove themselves, which is what a few of them have supposedly been asking for.

It will likely be vs an HBO veteran heavyweight boxer. Brock, Barrett, or Rahman come to mind.
Please bring on Lyakhovich on the Maskaev undercard. PLEASE.

The only bad thing about being on the Maskaev undercard is that the event will probably be on Showtime PPV. Larry has already mentioned Povetkin as the best prospect out there and his style is exactly what Larry loves. Being on HBO would make this perfect.. too good to be true.

This fight could be on Showtime as well. That is the Showtime free preview weekend and they are reportedly looking to put fight on that day as well. They thought they had Maskaev-Peter, but, that fell apart when King ended up promoting the fight and got MSG to do it on October 6th. Showtime is reportedly working on Tarver-Dawson. They could put Povetkin on that undercard too.

Not on Youtube. I am still researching some Russian websites but have not found yet.
From what I have read in this thread, it seems that the undercard of Pavlik and Taylor is the most logical place for Sasha. I would rather seem him face an American heavyweight, as opposed to Sergei. Barrett or Rahman would be fine by me.
Me,too. To be honest I would rather see him against any fighter apart from Lyakhovich.
Sergej couldnt hold a candle to Povetkin at the amateurs, and he has zero chance to win a fight against Povetkin at the pros.Povetkin plays in a different league.
Monte Berrett,Sherman Williams,or Sinan Samil Sam would be good opponents for Povetkin's next outing to a ring.

Sure? That was an out of shape, inactive and old Donald. Barrett in shape is not worse, maybe even better. But i would like Povetkin to fave Byrd or Rahman next.

No way. We tend to agree on many things Brooklyn, but certainly not this one. Not only did Povetkin trounce him in the amateurs, but Povetkin is the bigger puncher of the two, and he would definitely stop Sergei. And I'm saying this with Sergei as one of my favorite current heavyweights. (Just something about him, I don't know)
