Yep, Carl is going to try and avenge his first round ko loss. I respect that.
Not only that, but he is doing it for the EBU (European) Super Featherweight Title!
Credit to Carl. Many of us picked against him in different fights but as hes stepped up hes shown his strength, his power, his will, his tenacity and even his underrated ability.
He's a Brit so I'm rooting for him to avenge his loss.
Bring the belt home Carl!

Good on him for wanting the rematch, but Kirakosyan crushed him back in 04

Hes come on leaps and bounds since then, and he should be motivated like never before. I think he can win this fight.

True but Carl seems to have improved an hell o alot since then. It's judgment time to see if he has what it takes to step up or be another nearly man.

I hope so, he's one of the most entertaining exiting boxers we have and any chance to see him is not to be missed, i know he has limitations but he has a punchers chance against most fighters.
Any one see him dismantle femi femitola? That was cool.:nut

Femintola was the next big Ingle thing. He was systematically taken to pieces. Talk about throwing a sheep to lions..

He'll avenge this defeat. It was a relatively inexperienced Carl that fought the first time. Kirakosyan knows this, so don't expect him to jump in and go for a R1 KO like last time (when Johanesson was caught cold).
I see 5-6 rounds before Carl puts him to sleep.

I really hope Carl does it, but I fear for him......tis exciting...i love these kind of grudge matches

Carl initially looked like a bit of a raw brawler. The Burns fight showed me he is a little stronger and hits a little harder than most people think. That is the sort of talent he needs for the big stage. He has more improvement left in him. Seems like a good guy so i'll root for him.

It was shown in an advert i think, he kind of walked straight into a counter right hand and went down. He got up quick and was all over the place so the ref stopped it i think. He should do the business this time!
Do Yorkshire proud Carl:D

I would have gone to leeds for this one. I am going tonight and i do not know why they changed it especially after all the fuss they made about bringing live boxing back to leeds at the last fight.

Johansson looked superb last time out. I too fancy him to avenge the loss. His constant pressure bares testiment to the effort he must put into his training, and he could be someone going on to much bigger and better things.

how was the fight close? one sided?

I've just got back from the pub, thoroughly disappointed.
He couldn't cope with the uppercut at all. Just dodging a few of them and he might've been fine later on as Kirakosyan went out at a hell of a pace and I reckon he would've struggled later. Never mind, he's still young enough to learn.

Pretty one-sided to be honest.
Close first round, both standing head to head with Kirakosyan's superior speed taking the round.
Second round, Carl got KD'd from a nice shot near the end of the round that bloodied his nose.
Third round he got knocked down twice more but threw a few nice shots in the last minute.
Fourth he ate a nasty right uppercut and was struggling to get to his feet when the ref waved it off.

I think "Bugger" sums this fight outcome up pretty well.
johanneson looked terrified. complete contrast to the domestic fights i've seen him in when he's totally bullied and dominated his opponents. this time he was clearly frightened of his opponents power and this reduced his own offensive capability - it looked like he didn't want to put everything into his punches cos he thought he'd get countered and with that frame of mind lost before the fight had started
That Armenian is strong as a Ox. Id def watch him again.
I think this fight was a simple matter of level and the Armenian is a just a level above and johansen is now a proven solid, British title level fighter, nothing more.
Carl showed heart but every shot was shaking him to his boots.

Yeah Carl sure has guts. Perhaps European level too high for him, or maybe it was just that this guy has his number. We shall see, as I doubt that is the end for Johansson.

I think the opponent as VERY good for a European champ. If he moves up to world level maybe Johansen can step up?

Firstly mate he's nearly 29 hes not that young, secondly Kirakosyan would of struggled later? What fight were you watching? Everytime he hit Carl it looked like he was going to fold, that was a case of two fighters in different leagues.

It was a great atmosphere at the fight last with a very solid undercrd, all terrific scraps from local fighters, very entertaining from start to finish. Frank Maloney must be commended for it.
Fewkes vs Tonchv was a good little fight withe Fewkes showing he can step up in class even though he does not seem to have a big punch he could go onto better things at british level down the line.
Ajejtovic vs Maxwell was worth waiting for (anyone s the first fight awhile back which was one of the fights of the year so far at domestic level). Ajetovic is classy nd will be fighting for british titles at some point.
Carl Johanneson and his team were caught cold by a fighter that had thier number. How man times do you see a rematch where the loserof the prevous fight (especially if it had ended early) just try and see out thefirs few rounds?
He went out with atotally different game plan to the one he usualy does and got destroyed. I really like Carl but that was his best opportunity and he blew it b been too defensive against fighter who came traight out of the blocks. After a couple of early body shots that aught carl cold and hard you could see it was not going to last long. Great guts to keep getting back up, i rate his chin because he took som severe punishment and kept on trying till he was kod unconcious.

Johansson was exposed last night- he would never have beaten that guy in a million years and they were mental (though admirable) for chasing the rematch. The first time I got a look at the moments that lead up to the knockout in the first fight I knew Johansson was going to get beat. The guy is Carls perfect foil in the sense he has blazing speed and disguises which punch he is going to throw next very well. Couple that with Carls leaky defence and you have a blueprint for disaster.
Its pretty safe to say Alex Arthur would have annihilated him in a couple of rounds.
The fight itself was thoroughly one sided but enjoyable and I was rooting for CJ and he did seem to be getting a foothold after the second knockdown. But in the end class told.

Damn that was shit man:huh Kirakosyan was just too strong and too fast for Carl, To me Johannesson just looked shit scared of Kirakosyan. I think Johannesson is strictly a domestic level fighter unfortunately, he doesnt have a great chin.
Id definetly watch the Armenian again, he looked damn good.

I'd definetly watch the Armenian again, he's exciting. Carl just wasnt there last night, prob thinking too much about the previous fight, he did get owned but at least he gave it a go. Back to clean up the domestic level.
