Can anyone who works w/ boxing administration confirm this?

I went to the chiaropractor for the first time ever today because my neck was bothering me, but this guy was pretty cool. He had a pretty good knowledge of boxing and he said that amauter boxing organizations are condsidering getting rid of the head gear b/c it increases the chance that you get whip lash because its bigger and theres no chance of punches sliding off your head with it on.

Can anyone confirm this?

There have been rumors that the AIBA wants to get rid of it. However, IMO, it will never happen.

The headgear has substantially reduced eye injuries. I don't see anybody getting rid of it.
