I like both of these characters...their work etchic, technique, and strength. I guess that GSP is younger and at his peak, while Hughes may be more ring-hardened and experienced. Both have beaten each other once. GSP lost the first time, but Hughes narrowly escaped. The 2nd time, GSP beat Hughes fairly early.

Would either one beat Serra?

I hoping against Hope that Hughes wins again , and he can. It will be very difficult though.

Serra would have been a walkover for Hughes, totally different class, Serra is an average lightweight, Hughes is the greatest welterweight ever.

GSP will easily beat Hughes imo - how Hughes beat him the first time was a one time deal and wont happen again - Hughes grappling is not good enough to keep GSP from controlling him most of the fight...

I have to go with GSP over Hughes.... he just has too much for Hughes at this stage of his career. However, I would definitely go with Hughes over Serra, in easy fashion.

Serra vs GSP II is going to be interesting, because I think that GSP's only weakness is his mentality. I don't know how his mind will be going in against Serra who blasted him out.
