not yet - Bute still needs some fights to become ready for the level of Calzaghe... and by then Calzaghe will ave retired :)
Prime versus prime - well time will tell - but from what Bute has shown so far I don't think he'll reach Calzaghe's level.

No, Bute looks pretty good but he has a lot to work on. He seems heavy footed and needs to be set to punch, against world class guys that is a very bad thing. Bika hit him with some shots that suprised me, I was not blown away by his performance. I have seen all of Bute's stuff on youtube, he is a good draw in Canada but not a world class fighter yet . He should fight Andrade next.

I think fighting Andrade now, would be a backwards step. Froch, Mundine, Inkin, Berrio and even Beyer would be better fights for him.
Andrade got battered by Kessler. He needs another win or 2 before stepping up to Bute.

Bute has little to no chance. He should continue to fight set ups for the while. That is his specialty. That and fighting at home .:-(

I fail to see how Andrade is a step back from Bika - atleast Andrade earned his shot at the title by winning fights and not like Bika - who earned his shot by doing better than exspected versus an ill prepared unmotivated Calzaghe...
I think Andrade-Bute could be interesting - Andrade is as big and strong as Bute and will be able to put Bute under some pressure and he has a 12 round garantee.
Berrio is about the same level as Andrade - but of course holds a title which makes him interesting.
Mundine - aren't happening - Mundine is WBA regular and Bute IBF mandatory.
Beyer - not going to happen - unless of course he takes the IBF-title.
Froch - I think Froch will go after more lucrative domestic fights - a lot to loose and not much to gain for Froch in such a fight.
Inkin - seems he is going the WBC-way for the moment - and he has lots of "german" opponents to pick from and he is going to be hard to get out of Germany - but if the fight could be made it could be a interesting fight - two of the top contenders facing off.
Other than Andrade I think Tsypko, Mendy, Manfredo, Larsen, Oganov and Lacy (once back from his injury) could be interesting fights.

ok man calm down, I'm not trying to insult anyone:hat
I'm only saying it's a backwards step because if Bute fought Andrade now, he won't get any credit for it. I wanted to see these two fight and would of preferred to see them fight before Andrade-Kessler. It would of been a good fight between 2 undefeated up and comers.
As it stands now though. Bute's on the verge of a title shot while Andrade is recovering from a beating. Bute would further increase his standing by fighting Berrio, which as you said, is for the IBF. That's his best route to go as it will get him more recognition and earn him more money, should he win.
Froch, Mundine, Inkin ,Beyer and even Lacy are his other best options. They may be hard to make, but if he was to win the IBF, they'd be a lot easier.
Andrade needs another win or two to get his reputation back on track. Most people gave him credit just for having an iron chin after his fight with Kessler. If Bute was to fight him now, too many people would be critical of it. Andrade would be better off going for Reid, Catley, Larsen or Tyspko. Good fights and very winnable for him.

Bute would imo. have a shot, but would of course be underdog. Bute is not prime yet, but will be in a couple of years.
why the hell not, its not as if Calzaghe did that much better than Lucian against Bika. Hell, some people around here actually thought Manfreddo would beat Joe. I think the comment about Lucian having to be set to punch is accurate and would be a factor against a fighter like Joe. At this point in time, Joe would win, but it would not be as 1 sided as some seem to think.

No. Bute's not very good and is as overrated as anyone on this board. He seems like a poor man's Jermain Taylor to me.

i think bute would definitely be one of the toughest fights joe's had, but i do agree with all of you he is not ready yet.
bute vs peter manfredo jr. would be a good draw and would get bute alot of recognition. even though bute probably ko's him.

Well I was think of which fighters could develop Bute - not just give him a name on his record. For that purpose Andrade would do good for the reasons mentioned above.
