They both fought Duran. They both had good skills. Buchanan faced the green Duran, the other one faced the monster (in progress) Duran. Who do you think can take it. 15 rounds fight with the rules of that time.

Lets get it on.

Great match-up! Would love to have seen this one.

Both classic boxers, great straight punches.

Maybe Buchanan to edge a tight decisions? I like Buchanan and think he was tough as hell. You gotta admire a Scot with skin so white it is pale blue...

This IS a great match.Buchanan was a bit more skilled and polished, DeJesus stronger and with more pop. This fight would probably look a lot like Buchanan-Laguna with Ken getting pretty busted up but narrowly prevailing by decision.

Buchanan on a close decision over 15. Wanted to see this fight happen at the time.

Buchanan decks DeJesus en route to a well earned decision..the difference would be in toughness..not in skill.

Nice match up.

I'd favour Buchanan I think, it'd be very close though

This fight was actually going to come off if Buchanan had managed to beat Ishimatsu. At that point, Esteban should be favoured I guess.

But if ever a guy needed a manager...

Buchanan by decision, with him pulling away in the late rounds.

Quite possibly not:lol:, though he's one of those fighters who gets matched appropriately most of the time, not like Mayweather, Pacman, Mosley Moorer etc.

I thought he beat Ishimatsu, but as you say if he did get the decision then fought DeJesus, chances are DeJesus would have been victorious at that point in time.

Prime for prime though is different IMO.

I think in this match up you have a counter-puncher, in DeJesus, and a 'pure' boxer, in Buchanan. DeJesus normally took his stand in the middle of the ring looking to slip in off his opponents shots and land some nice combo's and that left hook, but against a guy like Buchanan - who would be jabbing and moving - it would be hard to spot the openings for DeJesus to slide into range with, as Buchanan's angle would have changed after his shots.

Buchanan should be triumphant but it is close, purely because they are quite equally matched, and Buchanan can't move for every second of every round and DeJesus would get in some hard left hooks.

I'd lean toward DeJesus in this. Buchanan tended to get sucked into rough fights, and DeJesus was a sharper, harder puncher.

The silky-smooth DeJesus that out-classed Duran the first time would give Kenny, or any 135-pounder, BIG BIG trouble.
