Nothing comes close to the Coggi-Gonzalez fight. It's corruption at it's finest.
Everytime the hometown guy was hurt they would ring the bell to stop the round.
Another strange event was a protester entering the ring in his underwear
The fight slips me now but it was between two guys who has unreal KO percentages

Easily that parachuting idiot.
But who was the comedian that Marciano "fought" and the guy kept falling down and hiding behind the referee. There was something pretty surreal about that.

stuff like that happens in germany all the time. like when krasniqui got ko´ed in round eight by brewster ( even the tv people from germany said so).........but the ref just counted to nine then stopped. then he told the still down krasniqui to get up.........imagine that!

There was something pretty surreal about that.Bob Hope performed with Rocky once, as "Chicken Delight," wearing pillow sized gloves, and accompanied by a couple of hot girls in nurses uniforms. Could that be the episode you're referring to? (Hope was also a former boxer, and always retained those reflexes.)

The parachut guy.
I was astonished when I saw it ! The poor man got his ass handed by the crowd and seemed to have lost consciousness... man that was awesome.

"Macho" Camacho wearing a skirt in the ring was pretty demented. (Why didn't he accessorize with a pair of 5 inch heels to give himself a height advantage?)

This isn't the strangest thing, but it was funny.
Rock Newman pulling Elijah Tillery over the top rope, during Tillery's bout with Riddick Bowe in wich Tillery had previously tried to leg kick Bowe.

Oliver Mccall , losing it
The Tyson Hannibal Lechter Bite's on Holyfield
That Huge Bump on Rahman's head in the Holyfield Fight (was obscene)
Fan man during Holyfield Bowe 2 (was it 2)
The bombing of Hagler with bottles and cans after his destruction of Minter to win MW title
Honorable mention
Riot in the MSG after (Golata v Bowe) ok not in the ring
Riot fight in ring after Mayweather - Judah

with Hagler

I hadn't thought of it right away but "fan man" does take the cake. How often do you see a parachutist land in the ring.
I did see something bizarre in the New York Golden Gloves back in the early '70s. It was at the Felt Forum in Madison Square Garden.
A latin featherweight knocked his opponent down and kept kicking him in the head. The referee and both corners tried to grab him. He wriggled free, jumped out of the ring, eluded fans, and ran out the front door in below zero weather with just his trunks on and disappeared.
A week later it was reported in the paper, he was shot dead in a holdup.

Yeah, Eder Gonzalez v. Juan Coggi I has to be the most flagrantly obvious fix ever. Man, oh man. That referee was simply not going to allow Coggi to lose.
And yeah, that ref for that Brewster-Krasniqi fight should be banned for life. Any sport that would allow him to ref should be banned.

Tony Tucker in an exciting fight, can't remember the opponent, but it happened...once.
The only good Tucker fight I've seen was Tucker-Lewis, and that had a lot more to do with Lewis than Tucker. Tucker-Swindell and Tucker-Douglas are two of the worst stoppage wins I've ever seen. Tucker-Tyson was even worse than Tyson-Bonecrusher.

This incident, fanman, the Golatta riot with Duva's collapse. Strange, bad things almost always happened when Bowe fought.
Could you imagine if he fought Tyson?

All fine choices, but I have a better one. There was a fight in the 50's once where one fighter charged out of his corner, missed badly with a punch, and fell clean out of the ring! He was then coutned out. The winner won via KO without even thowing a punch.
fists of fury
07-05-2007, 07:28 AM
 That's nuts.
The Bowe v Tillery incident where Tillery kicked him and Newman pulled Tillery over the top rope WWE style was insane.
One of the most bizarre incident involves Jimmy Abbot, a local heavyweight who stood 6'6 and weighed around 280 lbs. or so. Big guy.
The opponent was the Zimbabwean champion, who was literally too scared to throw a punch, or even stand up. He cowered in a corner kind of like a frightened cat and refused to come out.
Abbott walks on over and as soon as he gets close, this guy darts to the opposite corner and cowers again. This goes on for about a minute with Abbott looking totally bewildered and the other guy looking petrified, when the refs stops it.
I'm not sure if they ruled it a TKO or a NC, but the "fight" was totally bizarre.

The title fight Aaron Pryor had before Arguello, where he was floored and did something like a somersault and was back in his opponent's face.

To be honest, I can only remember Tyson ducking a right and getting his by a left uppercut against Tucker, followed by lots of clinching. The entire last round of Tyson-Smith is clear in my mind.
Aside from Lewis-Tucker, which had some really warlike rounds, Tucker's entire career was non-descript.

In 1999 Lou Saverese boxed Lance Whitaker in Las Vegas, Lou was thrashing Lance but in round 6 he took a knee.. The referee knelt down next to him and spoke very clearly, I think you had better get up and start acting like you want to win this fight....
Lou indeed lurched back to his feet and won a shutout.....

Remember when Rafael (not quite as good as his brother) Ruelas messed up his knee count against Gutierrez?
Brothers Gabe injury against Jeff Franklin was perhaps not strange, but it was certainly the worse I saw in the ring.
