PrideOfWales, if you think I should "take a break" from posting about Bute, why don't you say so...I wouldn't want to make him unpopular with the lads on these boards with my posts and views, which I would be surprised if he shared anyway...I would take your advice, I promise!:deal

I concur. Pavlik is too easy to hit for a good solid boxer like Bute. I think Bute would stop a Pavlik by round 9 or 10.

too hungry
Don't think with your heart mate. Why would he be any more hungry than Bute?

Last Friday I reminded my son the watch Bute vs Bika on FNF's. The next day he called me to yell at me for "wasting his time watching that garbage".
I have to agree. Bute showed me nothing.
Pavlik by KO.
i'm a bit surprised at how many people think that Pavlik can go 8 pounds north and KO a guy who has never lost. i'm a fan of both and it would be interesting. i would pick Bute by UD. this would be the match of the two most hyped guys on ESB right now.

seriously, Pavlik is way overrated. Bute is a southpaw, versatile, faster, and naturally bigger.

Pavlik gets stopped here, no doubt. Bute's too skilled for Pavlik and moves too well.

I think at 168 Pavlik will actually be a lot stronger than he is now. So I'd take Pavlik by KO.
I don't rate Pavlik that high. He gets hit far too often for me. Makes exciting fights but a well schooled boxer would do a number on him.

I don't rate Pavlik that high. He gets hit far too often for me. Makes exciting fights but a well schooled boxer would do a number on him.He brawls against brawlers and boxes (and brawls) against boxers. Maybe you've only seen him fight brawlers, such as Miranda and Zertuche. His boxing skills are very good, that just wasn't part of his game plan for his last few fights. You will see when he beats Taylor, unless he knocks him out too early to showcase his skills, but eventually, you will see.

Bute is 6'-2" & Kelly is 6'-2 1/2". Boxrec.com had 2 different reach measurements. Butes is shown at 27.5" & Kellys at 75", so not sure about reach comparison.
Kelly at 168 lbs will be scarey. He'll take Butes head clean off. Thats all Pavlik does. You boxing experts should recogize that by now. Oh, I see. Your blinded by favoritism...

How is that? By Taylor having some trouble with a former WW good mover and boxer?

im not sayin taylor has a good or great chin, im jus sayin IMO i dont think bute can hurt him
... and that's the reason why this fight could be even shorter:Dhow many of Bute's fights have you seen. as i stated i am a fan of both. i picked Pavilk ove Miranda because i thought he was being underated, which he obviously was. BUT, i do feel that Bute being the naturally bigger man and having the better skill is enough for him to win.

Where were you able to confirm that? I haven't even been able to confirm whether or not he's Polish.
AND THAT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER!!!
I like every damned thing about Pavlik. He knows how the dismantle his opponent. He's a lefty fighting orthodox, which gives him an advantage & shows he's got smarts in the ring. The way he picks his shots is incredible. And after the Miranda fight, people can't even argue whether or not he has a good chin, cause he's proved he does many times. His defense isn't all that bad either.

Pavlik is very stronger for 160 but no one will know what he will be at 168. remember Hatton at 47? i could be wrong for sure but i would have to say the smart money would be on Bute. the real question is do you think we will ever find out?

Absolutely. After Kelly takes out Taylor, maybe he'll defend at that weight, but for sure he will go to 168 & then 175. He's only 25, so time is on his side. Like I said, he will be more comfortable making wt at 168 & with his skills & punching power, I don't see him losing.

Pavlik by decision. Pavlik is actually BIGGER than Bute, so the size advantage doesn't come into play. Bute's probably more skilled, and while his body looks more developed, he clearly punches weaker. This is a boxing match, not a beauty contest. Also, Pavlik has shown the ability to pressure and use a high workrate deep into a fight, while Bute seemed to languish for long periods in an effort to conserve energy. All that extra muscle mass is using up too much oxygen, and as a result, he can't do as much as he should be able to. All three of Calzaghe, Kessler and Pavlik beat him on decision.
It's pretty obvious that all this Bute talk is just an effort by Calzaghe's fans to pump him up so that Calzaghe looks better when he pummels Bute's lily white ass while dodging the real fights against P4P quality quys :yep

I thing u are talking here about Pavlik that win with ''Just words and nothing else'' Miranda lill cat.
If it is so you should respect also Bute he is a strong boxer that showed reliability in the ring and i think the same as Pavlik.
SO it will be a very good fight.
In my opinion it can go eather way

Pavlik TKO9 Bute
If Pavlik gets by Taylor this would be a good first fight at 168 for him. Bute will have beaten Berrio for the IBF belt when this fight will be a possibility.

Good one! An obvious comeback. And I suppose you also don't see the KOing talent that Pavlik possess', while at the same time you would most definitely favor Calzaghe against him at 168 lbs., correct?

I do see Pavliks talent not only KO-wise but also overall. I predicted he would beat Miranda for instance.
You are right about me favouring Calzaghe against him at 168 though, and you are probably also right about Pavlik hitting harder than Calzaghe right now, but hitting harder doesn't necessarily equal winning, you ought to know.

Well, from the earlier stoppage of Manfredo, all I have to say is if the fight happened in the UK, Calzaghe would get the judges biased nod. But that won't happen, cause Pavlik will make sure the judges are required.

Who do guys think wins this fight?Interesting matchup.
I'm a Bute fan, living in the same part of town, followed his career closely.
Pavlik would be a tough fight for Bute but I think he outskills Pavlik enough to win the decision.
I don't exclude a late KO but I wouldn't bet on it.
