Hi all since iv been a member iv seen loadsa posts about this problem when people have taken a piss and seen blood in it after boxing. Firstly i recommend you go see your doctor but i discovered something i didnt know about it today when i went to the doctors. Yesterday i had a piss and it was nearly all blood. Went the doctors today and he said that it can happen when youve exercised to the extreme and it occurs in alot of top atheletes. Basicaly im only saying this cos iv seen people on threads shitting themselves about it. Go see your doctor but chances are itll be this like i had if youve been exercising. Just a little trivia there for you boys lol

Still see a doctor tho.:good

Its a condition called haematuria. It is caused by impact on the bladder whilst doing things like running, sparring etc. over a long period of time. If you get enough trauma to the bladder area this is quite common. One way to avoid this issue is to always keep a small amount of urine in the bladder; if you have some fluid then the trauma is usually far less. There are a few other causes but they are far less likely :)

If the problem persists ask you doctor for a cystoscope; it is like a little camera that will check the bladder walls for damage

I have been a medical student for 5 years so if anyone else has boxing related health issues or whatever ask away :)

I've got one but first of all i ask can you please change that avatar? It truly scares me.
Okay my question has to do with boxing and alcohol, there's a couple of questions actually. If i decide to drink are there any extra negatives if you work out beforehand or go for a run while you are drunk or shortly afterwards?
I ask because i'm planning on drinking tonight, i drink rarely so i want to minimise any damage i might do to myself. I've heard things about alcohol affecting your testosterone levels worse if you workout beforehand. Please advise me what to do! :thumbsup

What i really want to know is will occasionally drinking possibly do any damage to my blinding speed and reflexes? I don't plan on getting smashed but i still will probably have 5-10 standard drinks, bad idea?

Kool yeh i reckon my bladder was empty and any water i drank about 2 bottles , probably was just replacing sweat , im in aus at the moment and ran on the beach around 1 in the afternoon in 29 -30 degrees , probably not the smartest thing. Good to see a med student on here , im a doctors receptionist lol funnily enough so you pick up a few things but i always tell people to go see their doc even if i know wats sup lol. But this id never come across , just posted this so people dont crap themselves if it happens , still need to see your doctor but dont panic its not likley to be anything serious from what i was told.

haha sorry no can do - have to wear this after losing an avatar bet :-(

I dont advise running whilst drunk  firstly, you risk injury like falling over or getting cleaned up by a car. Secondly, you are at a huge risk of massive dehydration. Sweating hard and having the remaining fluids being sucked up by the alcohol could cause liver, kidney and bladder damage. Thirdly, you wont get the same benefit i wouldnt think because your body is breaking down the alcohol and not the fat you are trying to lose. Your lungs capacity will also seem smaller from the effects of the booze

if your going to workout and drink... exercise at least 3 hours before you drink to give the body a chance to rehydrate and for your internal organs to return to normal function; hitting them with ethanol when they are stressed is bad news.

You can get sloshed every now and then and it probably wont diminish your reflexes a whole lot (when i say now and then i mean probably only a few times a year, seriously). But with that said, the guys with the best reflexes never drank - RJJ, PBF and Ali were said to never touch a drop

I enjoy my life very much, i just feel like i'm very lucky to have the natural gifts i have so i don't want to do anything that could have a negative effect on my speed. I have a good time without alcohol but for some reason i want to drink tonight, i want to drink so i have an excuse for acting like a clown, it's a bit weak i know....

Back to original topic i googled it and it looks like your right having your bladder fuller is better. It says running in hot weather and for long periods when dehydrated gives more chance of it occuring. I did all three of those i think. Dr said to keep the exercise the same and if it happens again then to go back. Ill keep it the same but be more mindfull of hydration and keeping the bladder slightly full. Not very nice dont want it to happen again lol

its actually probably closer to 8 or 9. You do a science degree for 3, medicine itself for another 3 and then an internship for 3:good

mind you, im an aussie so med school might be different here :good

not strange for a lad - it would be good to have a bloke and a woman doing that job. SOmetimes you call to see a doctor about a male problem and a female receptionist asks whats the medical condition. Id rather explain to a bloke that i had herpes than to a woman

Yeah, I'm a Pre-med student as well. Depending on what your doing. Normally it's 4yrs college, 4yrs Med school, then another 2-4 as a intern/residency.
