Hi all iv been training now for about 1 year and i am in pretty good shape. However my work out consists of pretty standard exercise and im not very knowledable about plyometrics ect and all the different aspect there is to more advanced training. So basically has anyone got any exercises or adivce for increasing my workout in complexity. Like i said at the moment its pretty standard.

This is an example of a work out i do , not the hardest in the world but has got me in shape.

Roadwork (obviously)
Push ups ( i do 15 in a set and do at least 4 sets sometimes 8 if i break it up throughout the day)
Heavy bag
Skipping
Abwork
Hill sprints
Burpees
Clap push ups
Squats

Also latley iv been using a 2 ft heavy bag (not through choice) and have been taking it down and using it as a weight . lifting it as quick as possible above my head until failure. And silly things like that.

As you can see not the hardest work out in the world and mine is far from an exact science.

Basically im looking for anything i can do to make it harder, or something i am missing maybe. Basically any advice , links or information of anykind would be welcome on this thread.:good

Cheers

In general terms, it is not what you do that is most important, it is how you do it. Staying completely focussed is absolutely vital. Put yourself on a schedule, keep track of your progress, try to improve a little bit every week. It won't take more than another year or two and you will be the toughest guy any of your opponents ever faced.

That might have been a joke about the bicep curls. Or if it was serious, don't listen to him.

Thought it might be

Thanks for the advice so far ( and not laughing at my current work out. So do you think it might be worth keeping more focused and doing this current workout at a high intensity. Is there nothing else you think i should throw in there . Ill consider bicep curls. At the moment i dont do any weight training , not got nothing against it just havnt needed to yet and i dont enjoy it that much. But yeh anything i should add to my workout. I reckon i take it pretty easy on that work out if im honest like ill do one exercise pretty full on but then ill get some water and walk round a bit till im fully recovered where i should probably just keep going. That rossboxing is brilliant iv already used his sight extensivly and thinking about getting his book.

Circuit training , could you give me an example of this (probably dumb question) , would you do circuit training instead of what im doing , or as well as on different days , or just on the same day as what im already doing.

Also i probably shouldnt do too much boxing specific at this moment in time as im away from my gym and wasnt there for long before i had to leave to go traveling and i dont want to pick up bad habbits. I probably already have with the heavy bag but i enjoy it too much to give it up.

What do you mean haven't needed to? At what point do you think you need to start lifting weights?

I mean iv gone from being completely out of shape to getting into pretty good shape without them so far. Bodyweight exercises i have found to be very effective therefore i havnt felt like iv needed to so far. like i said im not against weights or think im doing it old school or anything stupid like that , i just havnt got into doing weight training yet. Maybe thats something i should look at now , have you got any good ideas then at incorperating weights into my training ?:good

Another reason is i really dont enjoy doing weights at all i find it very boring so it would be more of a chor for me .

pull ups, dips, handstand push ups, and of course good old one legged squats is something i would recommend to be added

cheers mate, pull ups i cant at the moment as im staying at my dads in australia and cant really keep adding equipment to his house lol. And iv never had a dipping station anyone know any home made alternatives. I was thinking of finding like a kids play ground and going there early morning and see if theres like somewhere i could do pull ups and dips ect. And 1 legged squats sounds pretty hard. Has anyone got a link to a site with just a comprehensive list and diagrams of exercises. Thats what im really after cos so many people talk about exercises that ill be honest i dont know what they are. Im sure its stupid but like i hear people talk aabout dead lifts , dont know what they are , and many others so could do with like a reference sight with names and diagrams that would be great!:good
