He caved in when Briggs was able to land on him after a few rounds, Danny managed to use straight and fast punches in the 1st round and hit him and he shit and he caved in from then on.

Well done to Green, he can only fight what is put in front of him. But that was a pathetic display of boxing from Drews and if that guy Mundine fought on Monday was a cab driver, then Drews is still on his L's.

Yeah that was possibly the worst fight i have ever seen, it's a shame Green didn't have more power to make it interesting and the boxing brain to throw something other than jab-jab-straight or jab to the body, Drews came for a payday and a jog and that's it. Sad day for the true boxing fan seeing these guys fight for a legit world title, even with all the different belts neither guy is/was worthy of holding a belt.

Green looked very good, especially seeing hiw unwilling the opponent was. Green is much stronger at 175. Greens hands are faster and he has a great mind set.
Mundine vs. Green II is a 50/50 fight at 175. But I fear it will take a while to happen as Green will demand (and rightly so, Mundine will be fighting for his title) most of the cut, and Mundine is doing well and could be rated no 1 at 168 very soon anyhow.Did Green look good winning?

Green couldn't really do anything because Drews just got on his bike, when Drews threw punches he landed but that would happen maybe once every 3 rounds. Green looked like he always does, caught Drews 2 or 3 times with no effect, spent most of the fight watching Drews run and throwing jabs to the body, horrible fight for both guys Drews did nothing and ran for 12 rounds but at the same time it displayed Greens lack of boxing skills and power so everybody involved loses apart from Green getting an underserved belt. The biggest losers were everybody who watched this atrocity of a fight.

Come on mate, you've been doing nothing but talk up Green lately, you know that fight is a mismatch and shouldn't happen again, all it is is a payday for both guys, Mundine needs to move onto bigger and better things but we all know that' not going to happen.

Unfortunately, what can you do? Drews decided not only he was to stay on his bike, but not to throw a punch?

Great for Oz Boxing and even better for a guy who works so gone dam hard in his quest to be the best. Danny stuck by his game plan and executed it beautifully tonight. I was disgusted in Drews and he shouldn't be paid. Some rounds he didn't throw a punch. The result would of been different though if he had. He woulda got Koed as he opened up. He stayed tidy and defensive because he knew he was goin to get hurt and knocked out. He is not a fighter more of a fencer. For Danny all I can say well done champ you deserve it. You beat some boxers ive trained and always respected them and treated them/us very well. After he beat Jase the 2nd time he took him out to dinner and gave him some extra money out of his own pocket. How many fighters do you see do that. A gentleman. The rewards will now come and his team have done extremely well. I wish Dan all the very best and a big congratulations very soon.

green has the title and im sure mundine will want it. IMO green has the power. he already has plenty of money and they can both make plenty off a rematch but danny is holding the cards.
Im so stoked for green. He may never be an all time great but he definatley deserved a title. Now the dvd shoul have been made of greens career. seemed unfinished before he won the title.

Drews Threw The Fight...........bet Loads On Himself I Guess
Green Looked Ok...hard To Ko A Guy Who Is Always Running But It Showed That He Is A Limited Fighter...mundine Will School Him Again If They Fight No Matter The Weight
Willie Looked Great On The Undercard
Shame Green Had To Win This Way...at Least He Will Have Some Big Pay Days Next Year And Has A Real World Title To His Name...unlike Mundine Who Will Look To Fight Green Mid Next Year

Ageed that was a pretty weird fight. Why didn't the lanky mofo throw any punches? Every time he opened up he got tagged, but still you'd go out on your shield wouldn't you. Drews fought scared the whole fight. It was so boring it reminded me of Siaca vs Mundine. Green schooled him. Dipshits like hazeman must feel like total knob jockeys, the exact opposite happened in the fight to what they expected. Schooled.

It's just such a shame that this is already starting to reflect poorly on Green. Like "he didnt make the fight happen"..or "theres something dodgy going on".. The fact is Green threw down on this clown from the get go and after that Drews' chin went in hiding. I think people's expectations of Drews were set a little high (rightfully so considering he was the champ) and now it just puts a certain smell in the air, which is a real shame for Green. Green looked great regardless of his opposition. Congratulations Greeeny!

Yeah i should of known a guy who according to people round here was a worthy champion was gonna get paid off and run, look through my posts and you'll see i always said Drews was shit and was given the belt, i just think green is even worse, from the fight you can tell that if he came to fight he would of beat green, everytime he punched he landed and when green landed there was no effect, green looked as shit and one-dimensional as always, what a joke that he can call himself a champ. Trying to look slick posing and shit in the ring then that disgraceful rant after the fight, how anybody can be a fan of the robot i can never understand.

I am really happy for Green, he has proven if you have some guts and are professional and committed to your craft you can take your level ability to good places. He has peoples respect and that is something that is very marketable. I don't rate him very highly as a boxer and think he is far too hittable and will struggle in upcoming big name fights but he deserves everything that life has afforded him.
Stipe Drews - nothing short of a disgrace. I have no other explanation but that this fight was fixed, he threw no punches despite Green being there to hit with the left hand. I hope we find out that he was being pressured by the Croation underworld or something so he can regain some semblance of respect

Fuck a belt, there's a million and one belt holders out there, i respect champion fighters with champion skills, not shit fighters who pay off other shit fighters who got given a belt for beating a shit super-middle weight. Green fans can go as crazy as they want, everyone knows he isn't a true champ, the people who think he is don't know boxing, and that's it.

ok, so echols did not win that belt officially? He never held it to begin with. Mundine and Echols were fighting for the vacant WBA belt, which became vacant after Ottke beat Mitchell and unified. The same scenario happened when Kessler unified against Beyer and Soliman and Mundine fought for the vacanted title.

That's very disappointing to hear about Drews. I thought he might be able to get himself into the mix a bit.
As for Green, Showtime likes him and likes the idea of a beltholder in its main events (HBO doesn't really care). Showtime has had a hard time getting decent fights for Chad Dawson, and if Johnson and Tarver don't work out for April, it wouldn't surprise me for him to get offered a Dawson unification fight.
I'd make him a longshot to win, but it would be another good payday and a great opportunity. Probably best that this particular bout was not televised, from the sounds of it.

No, you weren't "just" saying that... You made a specific point that the fighters he fought to get his belts were of the middleweight variety. Need I remind you of that infamous post: :deal

but you're right. Mundine hasn't officially taken a title from anyone. Methinks he will soon though from Green. To me it wont mean much if he gets Greens title though because 1. He's already beaten Green convincinly before (if it had been a close fight it'd be a different story) and 2. Green got given his belt on a platter.
If Mundine fights green and wins, to me he'd have advanced little on the world stage, in any ranking etc.

Lets get real here... Stipe Drews was fucking garbage the other night.
Yes I had him a slight favourite to win, but I had no idea he would have put up such a weak effort in defending his title. It's the weakest defence I've seen by far.
Now this isn't Danny's fault of course, but it's a bit misleading when he says he's beaten 3 or 4 world champions to Mundine's 0. Everyone knows Mundine has fought and beaten the better opposition of the two. Also, who are these 3 or 4 guy's he's talking about? I can only recall Drews and Lucas being champions.

I think mundine fought the start of career as a middleweight, not 100% sure but I think the first soliman - mundine fight was at middleweight??
Actually Mundine has beaten a former world champ in Lester Ellis
Im gonna keep this thread going and say...I think if it was Mundine in against Drews we might have seen a diff Stripe?! One that was more offensively orientated because he would have been told and saw footage that Choc gets uncomfortable under pressure.
Mundine would have had his hands full in my opinion.
