This thread is in appreciation to American fighters. The greatest country in world history producing the greatest fighters in world history. It is truly beautiful and inspiring. I would like every one to name a fighter that people might not know, that is of course American, and tell us a little about them.

I will start it off.

Marlon Davis. Very good amateur, Cleveland, turned professional, didn't turn out, now he is in his early 20's and he is the head coach of the city wide team.

Juan McPherson, 2003 world amateur welterweight champion. Cleveland, had tons of wars with Andre Berto. Juan led the American team in the American vs Ireland competition of 2004. Great fighter.

David "Nino" Rodriguez

26-0 (25 KO) Mexican-American HW from El Paso. Fought recently on the Holyfield/Savarese undercard, and is fighting this Friday on Telefutura. To date, he has beat only a bunch of bums, but he's working his way up. The guy has some promise. Stay tuned.

Jack Johnson was born in 1878, He was an African-American Boxer, and the first Black heavyweight-boxing champion.

He turned professional in 1897 In 113 fights, over the next 35 years, he lost only eight. He is still considered one of the great counter punchers of all time.

I thought of starting a thread like this, but never got to it. I'm glad someone else did though.

Everyone has of course heard of him,,,but he got me into boxing....the ONE AND ONLY Marvelous Marvin Hagler, from Brockton Massachusetts.
Professional record of 62-3-2. A fantastic, fluid boxer that had a granite chin and could trade with the best of them if he wanted to (see Hearns fight which is typically brought up as one of the best ever). A real nice guy to boot that will sign autos and talk with fans. Had a work ethic second to none and always came ready to fight! Can you tell he's my fav? :D

Bernard Hopkins

His win over Tito was what got me into boxing once and for all.

He was in New York, which is Hopkins' country but Tito's back yard. And after he won he got up on the ropes and started screaming USA! USA! USA!

it was awesome. Im not even American

Beau Jack, a two time lightweight champion. Went from the bottom to the top back to the bottom. I think he is starting to get forgotten, so here he is, presented to you.

My personal hero, and the Biological Father of Bernard Hopkins, Mr. James Toney, former Middleweight, Supermiddleweight, Cruiserweight, and Heavyweight Champion of the Worrrrrlld!!!! He should be the WBC Champion, but the judges fucked up when he beat Rahman... Fuck the WBA and John Ruiz. If faggoty NFL, NBA and MLB players can juice it up, why not JT? He will school your ass on the juice or not. He still kept his IBA belt, until that fat pile of shit from Zaire stole it from him, "Fatso" Sam Peter, who I hope gets KAYOED like a mutherfukker when he fights Oleg. JT will be back, like Jason Voorhees this coming year, and with the HW division the way it is, expect to see some gold around his waist yet again, you Gay Ass Hatas. :fire :good

So true.

But I don't expect he'll try for a world title for till about 2014.

He wants to beat George Foreman's age record.

'The greatest country in world history?' Just a tad grandiose.

Anyone say Roy Jones Jr yet?

Unbelievable in his prime. How many titles did he carry at once while he was the light heavyweight champ? I mean, I know many of them were crap, but damn!
