I mean he has started out so impresive, and he looks so Fast, Naturaly skilled and Powerfull I think it will be hard for him to get the big fights, cause alot of boxers will know what he brings to the table.

What do you guys think ?

Its a possability, definitely at this stage of his career, as at the moment he is a high risk/low reward (money) fight.

It certainly wouldnt be the first, or the last time it has happened

Big names aren't avoiding Gamboa... That is not avoiding.. They're simply ignoring gamboa cuz he's still a prospect with few credentials so why should they even bother?

I know you're still fairly new to the sport Jaycuban but to say that Big names are avoiding Gamboa is rediculous.. It's not true and that's how it is in boxing. Fighters have to pay their dues before they stepping up to the elites..

Let's see Gamboa face a solid contender first before we even talk about the elites..

Hey men i think you didnt read the post well, I said "will" not "are" you would have to be stupid to fight Gamboa right now being a big name, thats why i said if people will avoid him not that people are avoiding him, it is impossible to avoid him now cause he is still a prospect so it would make no sence.

And im new to ESB, not to boxing, my brother was a boxer and his father (my stepfather at the time) was and still is one of the cuban national team coaches, and ive watched every single fight worth mentioning since 1996

Mybadd dude.

I believe you and everything but if you were a life long boxing who's born into a boxing family, why did you call Gamboa a PFP #1?

I never called Gamboa PFP # 1.... I called Guillermo Rigondeaux # 1

And i truly believe nobody in the world can beat this guy in a boxing ring, He is known as a better boxer than Gamboa and Solis, not only that but the coaches in cuba , the same ones he trained Savon, Kindelan and Stevenson have said that they have never seen anything like Rigondeaux, and my brother actually trained with Solis, Gamboa, and some of the new cubans that won the Gold in the 2007 Pan American Games, and he said they all used to look up to Rigondeaux, just look at his fights... he never sits and the coaches never tell him anything... even in the olympic finals.

I think you are doing a nice job as an alias Jaycuban but it is clear to me that you are writing typos on purpose now. That plus you have never said a word of spanish before and you've ignored me(a fellow cuban) repeatedly. So therefore, I think you are an alias with a bias for cuban fighters. You've done a good job until now my friend.

Nice to see him stepping it up once again...and huge.

Damn, I must tell you this: I know it will be televised on SHO; at least a few clips if not the whole fight...as you might remember I told you that Öner was in negotiations with SHO way back in mid October about it...

Man, this is crazy... Gamboa has so much talent and he is jumping up in classes like it's just a f.king game. If Öner somehow can work out a fair deal with Showtime, in 2 years, Gamboa will bring down HBO...

Imagine that this guy from Cuba (and not from the USA or Mexico), living and training in Germany, not speaking any english or german can be a superstar, a big TV/fan draw both Stateside and in Europe and maybe a world champion in LESS THAN A YEAR! I can't remember ANYONE who did this. Of course, someone like Oscar with an instant TV deal... but this is different. It is the WORLD CLASS SKILL that gets the attention, not the nationality or popularity.

If Gamboa works harder than the rumors say, he can be THE ONE. But nothing is written in the stone... Cuban boxers usually give very wavering performances. Look at Gomez, a guy who looked to take Lewis' position after cleaning up the 190lbs class (this wasn't just a dream if you watched carefully his carreer) or Casamayor. I'm sorry to hear, but a source told me that both Gamboa and the more lazy Solis like the bottle... I hope it's not true... but Barthelemy have already left Germany and training in Florida. He left without his manager's permission as far as I know... it's very hard to manage them with prizefighting's perfectionism... But I hope for the sake of this sport that Öner, German and US televisions will somehow find the way to keep all 3 of them in the gym...

Barthelemy left with Öner's permission...imo Öner was not amused at first sight but saw that Barthelemy would do much better in another enviroment.

Can't wait to find out if Gamboa has a chin or not because if he wants to be pfp #1 any time during his career, he will need one, especially the way he holds his hands down.
