View Full Version : Between Manny Pac and Miguel Cotto, Who is the More Exciting Fighter?

To me its a no brainer, these two fighters bring more action than any other fighters in boxing.

Its hard to say which one brings more excitement, as of now I would go with Manny, but in two to three years Miguel Cotto will be the most entertaining fighter in boxing.

Manny Pac.

Its not even fucking debatable.

Manny Pac.

Its not even fucking debatable.

Sure it is. Cotto keeps racking up wins by KO, dislocating peoples shoulders, breaking their jaw bones, making them quit, one by one... he is an exciting fighter.

I also say Manny takes it at this point, for the level of competition he has taken and destroyed in past years, although I think he needs to now do this against the younger fighters in his division.

I'm not a fan of most raw bangers like Pacquaio, but I really respect and enjoy what Cotto does. He goes to the body, hurts the guy, and makes him quit - either with broken body or broken spirit.

Let's put it this way. Pacquaio does what Cotto does (and arguably better) and yet Pacquaio does it to HOF'er and ATG's whereas Cotto does it to garbage bin and puerto rican no names and still manages to get rocked and almost KO'd.

Nuff said.

zab judah is a no namer? cotto is still young. You need to give him time before he starts fightin all the top guys. no one starts off fightin top dogs

:rofl:rofl:rofl

He's 27 and has 30 fights. Don't try to make him out to be like he's a beginner. There's PLENTY of fighters I can name right now that have fought for and won world titles at or before their 20th professional fight, Mayweather being one of them. When is Cotto gonna fight his first name, when he's 50-0 like Hatton after years of fighting tomato cans? :rofl

Oh sorry, I forgot according to you Zab Judah is equal to MAB, Morales, Marquez, et al.

Pacquaio is a southpaw headhunter... Cotto is an orthodox body-puncher. Pacquaio's bread and butter is a straight left to the face... Cotto's bread and butter is more of a looping shot to the body. Pacquaio squeezed a draw out of a fight in which he knocked a man down three times in the first round... Cotto is undefeated.

Yes, very similar.

Edit: They do both wear boxing gloves.

Pacman for me, Cotto is no.2 though. Pac carries more power and is explosive and fast. Watching Cotto, hes more technical but its a slow process. With Pac his man can fall anytime if that left lands correctly and his explosiveness, energy just makes it a hell of a fight. Watching him get pissed off at the 6th round against Solis for example and he just lays into Solis not giving a crap about incoming shots, throwing none stop power punches.

Pac is not a one punch KO guy. He may get some knockdowns. But dont put guys lights out with one punch. He is a hard puncher just like cotto. Both have power in both hands. Styles are very different, but both have been down and hurt in fights. Hey thats whey they are exciting. Cotto getting hurt, he is like a wounded animal. Dangerous. lol. PAC to. Remember. Pac should be fighting at 135 now. He comes in on fight night at welterweight. But Pac is the most exciting and Cotto #2.:yep :yep :yep :yep :yep :yep :yep :yep :yep

I don't know, but if they were both on at the same time and i had to choose I would likely be watching Cotto. (depending on their opponents too).

Please lets not go start a Cotto vs. PAC

These two are the saviors of boxing and so far everyone has enough respect from both of their fans to not start a thread pitting these two against one another with one of these who beat who better BS!.

Theres nothing there to start a controversy, lets leave it at that.. they are both great fighters and classy as well.

If you don't want to debate, why are you on a forum? Secondly, if you think boxing hinges on two fighters, you can't know much.

I think Pac right now has no competition in the most exciting category. Pac is running for the most exciting fighters of all time. He's in the league of SRL, Hearns & Tyson. One thing you can say to all these guys are, "They simply are amazing." Cotto is my top 3 favorites but he hasn't reach the amazing category yet.

Similarity? They both destroy opponents.

Difference? Style!:yep

Cotto stays there and exchange bombs until the opponent surrenders.

Pac? Dances, moves in and out and when he sees the opponent hurt? He'll attack with a hail of punhes coming from all directions.

Now which is more exciting?

I find Cotto more exciting. The way he looks at his opponents with that ice cold stare with no emotion, his methodical pace in the ring. The guy is a cold blooded killer in the ring who enjoys hurting people....he's pure evil.

Well from everything I've seen and heard from expert trainers and analysts, and from everything I've observed myself, the ages from 26 to 29 are considerd to be a pro fighter's prime. So most fighters really don't start to decline till about the age of 30. So at 27 Cotto is dead in the middle of his prime.

i think he's just about to peak. therfore near the middle of his prime

MSTR
07-05-2007, 04:19 AM
Cotto for me. I love the way he stalks his opponents and closes the distance. that said Pac is a very exciting fighter also.

DanePugilist

In terms of excitement - Pacman by far, but Cotto has some likable assets as well.

MSTR
07-05-2007, 04:39 AM
Definitely, it is Manny Pacquiao.

Its like comparing Wade and Iverson in their physical prime. I mean Wade does his damage. But then you also look at Iverson, he does the same things that Wade does, only that you play the fast forward button a little bit and a little bit more. After you can put them to each side and compare. From there, it is easy to distinguish that Pacquiao is just quicker, faster, throws more and as hard hitting w/c makes him a little more exciting to watch than Cotto.

Pacman makes Cotto look boring in a head to head match-up IMO. And I am not saying that cos I am pinoy, but because its the truth.
Your biased opinion does not constitute the truth. Don't even think for a second that it does.

Cotto is exciting but he is very methodical - not saying it is bad. Pac, although he tries to be ver methodically, usually throws the strategy out the window and gets wild.

Both are exciting but it also depends on which style you enjoy more. I personally enjoy Cotto's style of breaking a guy down with body shots and then chopping the head off, and don't mind that he gets in some exchanges here and there, makes for a more dramatic fight.
Some other guys enjoy Pacquiao's erratic movement and unpredictability.
