If you want specialisation I'm going to admit that I've done more study into the Anatomy and physiology side of things, while having done comparative studies of Boxing against other martial arts. I have not had the access to proper professional level trainers (including bouts) since I left the country four years ago. So far I have had 3 officially sanctioned bouts (Exhibition type) against other Boxing gyms under semi-professional rules.
But good question. The moderators such as Achilles and Orishaman are legitimate trainers and have put their fighters into bouts.
Others may have mixed credentials or none at all. I know some people here are Trainers, of course their degree of knowledge varies, so do their opinions.

ripcity .... im no ali or angelo hyder but I know a thing or two about training. I'll give my opinion ... but probably take it with a pinch of salt. If you want 100% credible answers ask someone high up at your gym or your trainer.
Hi Ripcity,
Depends on what you're asking as to who can provide the best, or most realistic, answers. I've got 15 years of experience training in and teaching martial arts (Shito-Ryu Karate and Yi Chuan) so I've got a pretty good understanding of balance, form, body mechanics, etc.
However (and this is a *big* however), I've never competed outside of sparring with my training/sparring partners. While I may not be the very last person you'd want to ask about life inside the ring, I'm probably pretty damn far down the list. To wit, one of my training partners is a professional MMA fighter. He many only have three or four years of experience (compared to my 15) but he cleans my clock for me every single time. The best I can do is analyze what he's doing right and what I'm doing wrong. If you wanted to fight, amateur or pro, he'd have far, far better advice for you than someone like me.
As you already know, we all dispense our "wisdom" pretty freely here but you're very wise to be asking the question you opened the thread with with regards to knowing your sources.
Good luck and have fun!
No matter who's giving the advice around here, always take it with a pinch of salt. Except perhaps achilles, I never saw anything but truth posted by that guy.

I agree with you most of the times. Which either means you're very well informed, or you're just as clueless as I am.
